    Merlin made a decent debut in the ratings on NBC in the US at the weekend, according to overnight figures.

     

    The series - a new take on the Arthurian legend - pulled in 5.3 million viewers between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday night. The first two episodes were shown back to back on the network immediately after live coverage of the US Open golf championship.

     

    The audience figures were small, but enough to make NBC the second most-watched network of the night in the US. Merlin was beaten by gameshow Million Dollar Password and a rerun of Cold Case on CBS.

     

    In the UK, the first episode pulled in 6.6 million viewers on BBC One last September. A second series is currently in production for broadcast this Autumn.

    Queen of UK Soul, Beverley Knight, is returning this summer with her 6th studio album entitled 100%, due for release on 14th September. The album sees her working with industry big hitters such as Guy Chambers, Jam and Lewis and Amanda Ghost, and features a duet with soul legend, Chaka Khan. To give fans a taster of the new material, a track called ‘Every Step’ will be made available as a free download only on her official site from 6th July, followed by the first official single later in the summer.
