  1. Thanks Mikey ... Cooler Than Me is actually growing on a lot this week so I would expect a big climb for it in the next few weeks here. It would be a worthy top 5 hit officially.
  2. Cee Lo Green still says FU to a #1 hit! It seems that most are not forgetting Cee Lo Green as he gets a second week at the top with F**k You or Forget You. Recently it has become somewhat unusual for a single to get more than a week at #1, especially with the competition facing Cee Lo this week. The only competition I can see next week is from The Wanted or possibly a return for Bruno Mars, however the following week sees Cheryl Cole’s single release so a four week run is highly unlikely for this. It has stayed the UK’s best seller against the odds this week and has had very good sales indeed and is likely to be remembered in years to come. Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand enters at #3 In at #3 as this week’s highest new entry is none other than Barbra Streisand! It’s not the singer songwriter and actress with hits such as Woman In Love and The Way We Were, actually Barbra Streisand is the title of the song. The artist behind it goes by the name of Duck Sauce, a collaboration between DJs Armand Van Helden and A-Trak. Last year, the duo scored a #22 hit with the club banger aNYway and now straight into the top 5 at #3 with another club hit Barbra Streisand. Incidentally both this and Just The Way You Are were performed by acts on the X-Factor, with the latter back up to #2. Joe McElderry – Ambitions enters at #6 Similar to Robbie & Gary last week, the song that many expected to be #1 has fallen short in the end, actually missing top 5. In at #6 is the second single from last year’s X-Factor winner Joe McElderry, following a performance on the aforementioned TV show last Sunday. After famously losing out on xmas #1 with his winner’s single The Climb, he managed to climb a place for a week at the top. New single Ambitions is another cover, originally a #1 hit in Norway last year for Norwegian band Donkeyboy. Joe’s version was to be renamed Somebody, surely his Ambitions are to get a bigger hit than this! Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me climbs to #9 US singer, songwriter and producer Mike Posner entered at #22 last week with his new single Cooler Than Me, following some TV exposure of the track. This week the track shoots up to #9, looking likely to be a very big hit with several weeks to go until the track’s full release and parent album 31 Minutes To Takeoff. I think takeoff may be happening now! Pixie Lott – Broken Arrow enters at #12 Scoring her 6th successive UK top 20 hit is Victoria Louise Lott, better known as Pixie Lott with new single Broken Arrow. This is taken from a forthcoming re-release of her debut album entitled Turn It Up Louder, she’ll be hoping people do just that! Her debut single came last year with #1 hit Mama Do, followed by #1 Boys & Girls, #12 Cry Me Out, #20 Gravity and #11 peaking track Turn It Up. Pixie has written album tracks for Alexandra Burke and a free xmas download track for Girls Can't Catch. She has also been a guest judge on the X-Factor, covering for Dannii Minogue while she had her baby. Michael Buble – Hollywood enters at #17 Canadian singer and songwriter Michael Buble returns to the singles chart this week with his sixth top 40 hit and second highest peak with Hollywood. Mr Bubble made his debut in 2003 with his self titled album followed by It’s Time, which spawned #31 hit Home. Then came Call Me Irresponsible, which got him 2 singles in the form of #38 peaking Everything and #19 Lost. Last year’s release Crazy Love got him #5 peaking Haven’t Met You Yet and #34 Cry Me A River, now from the forthcoming re-release of Crazy Love comes Hollywood in at #17. Ting Tings – Hands enters at #29 Now for the return of the Ting Tings, who first came to light in 2008 with their #1 That’s Not My Name and debut album We Started Nothing. Well they did start something, as they also hit #6 with Shut Up & Let Me Go as well as smaller hits Great DJ, Be The One and We Walk. The band’s second album is due early next year, and from it comes a #29 debut for lead single Hands. BoB feat Rivers Cuomo – Magic enters at #34 Rapper BoB pulls off a magic trick to enter the top 40 with his third single entitled Magic, featuring lead singer of Weezer Rivers Cuomo. This follows his 2 chart toppers from earlier this year, Nothin’ On You (feat Bruno Mars) and Airplanes (feat Hailey Williams), incidentally the latter track flies a bit higher this week by reclimbing to #25. Expect this to magically climb over the coming weeks I’d say! Robbie Williams hits #1 with his second Greatest Hits album Drifting In & Out Of Consciousness is Robbie Williams with his second hits compilation album, now his 11th album maintaining his 100% hit rate of top 2 albums. Entering at #3 is the Bold As Brass Sir Cliff Richard, with his new covers album which is his first new recording in 6 years and set to coincide with his 70th birthday celebrations. Debuting in the top 5 at #5 is Magnetic Man, hot on the heals of their 2 top 20 hits I Need Air and Perfect Stranger. Glasgow band Belle & Sebastian enter at #8 to equal their highest ever album chart placing with new album Write About Love, no prizes for guessing the subject matter of that album then! Metal group Alterbridge enter at #9 with their third album entitled AB III, following an extensive live tour. Other new entries include The Orb with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Jason Donovan, Antony & The Johnsons and Sufjan Stevens. My Opinion I am pleased to see the mighty Cee Lo get a second week at the top of the charts, I also still love Just The Way You Are. I must be in the minority but I find the Duck Sauce song extremely boring, with the only lyric being Barbra Streisand. I even like Joe McElderry’s Ambitions better and it’s not brilliant – OK but could’ve been a lot better. One that is growing on me a lot now is Mike Posner’s Cooler Than Me, it is something a little different to what's around just now. I loved all of Pixie Lott's output so far including most of her album in fact, however Broken Arrow is a good song but certainly not her best. Whilst not a Michael Buble fan, I have liked most of his singles and Hollywood I think is very catchy and probably his best yet. The only song of the Ting Tings I've liked so far is Shut Up & Let Me Go, this new on Hands is ok and not as annoying as That's Not My Name. I haven't liked BoB's output so far and certainly don't rate the new song Magic, even the addition of Weezer's front man doesn't help a great deal. Still I'm glad to see Robbie at #1 with his new Greatest Hits album, he's done so many classic songs over his years as a solo artist.

  5. Thanks Nick ... 35 out of my top 40.
  6. Thanks Mikey, I did like Shame for a while but now I've gone off it a lot.
  7. Thanks GD I have been a big fan of Take That since their comeback, but wasn't sure how they'd sound with Robbie back. When I first heard The Flood I instantly loved it. I haven't actually heard Roll Deep's new one, I wasn't keen on the last 2 so we'll see about this one.

Cee Lo Green says FU to a #1 hit! The first of several chart battles this week has been between half of Gnarls Barkley and 2/5 of Take That, contrary to many people’s prediction Cee Lo says a big F**k You to Robbie & Gary, hitting #1. Thomas DeCarlo Callaway is a US hip hop, funk, neo soul and R&B singer, whose biggest commercial success came as the singing part of Gnarls Barkley. The duo scored a massive #1 with Crazy in 2006 as it became the first ever track to debut at #1 on downloads alone. Cee Lo was last seen in collaboration with Kelis on her top 5 hit Lil Star. Now from his upcoming 3rd solo album Lady Killer comes F**k You or Forget You, both combined to make the new #1 single. Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow – Shame enters at #2 Much has of course been made of the recent reunion between former bitter enemies and bandmates Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow. Robbie Williams of course parted company from Take That in 1995 to pursue a solo career, which got him 28 top 10 hits out of 31 single releases with biggest being the million selling Angels, also chart toppers Millennium, She’s The One, Eternity, Something Stupid and Radio. A month ahead of the first 5 piece Take That new material comes this duet entitled Shame, from Robbie’s upcoming hits album In & Out Of Consciousness. Shame enters at #2 complete with its Brokeback Mountain inspired tongue-in-cheek video! Swedish House Mafia feat Tinie Tempah – Miami 2 Ibiza enters at #5 Swedish House Mafia are a 3 piece collective consisting of house DJs Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. They scored a #7 hit just a few month’s ago with One (Your Name) and now get a second top 10 hit with new track Miami 2 Ibiza. The new single features a certain Tinie Tempah, who drops to #3 this week with his own Written In The Stars and crashes in at #1 with his debut album, on which Miami 2 Ibiza also appears. The Swedes’ new album Until One is due for release at the end of this month. Kings Of Leon – Radioactive enters at #7 The mighty Kings Of Leon return to the charts this week with their long awaited new single Radioactive, in at #7. The US rock band first formed back in 1999 but didn’t chart in the UK until 2003 when debut What I Saw EP made #22, followed by 3 albums with critical acclaim and several minor – mid-table hits. Then in 2008 the kings got their commercial breakthrough as the massive Sex On Fire hit #1 and is indeed still in the top 100 after 108 weeks. This was followed by the massive #2 Use Somebody, both tracks from million selling Only By The Night album. Now they return with the first single from Come Around Sundown, Radioactive gets them their third top 10 single in total. Magnetic Man feat Katy B – Perfect Stranger enters at #16 Another 3 piece collaborative group scoring a second hit this week are Magnetic Man, who once again chart in the same week as Swedish House Mafia. Magnetic Man are a dubstep trio consisting of DJs Scream, Benga and Artwork, whose first hit was #10 I Need Air. Now they follow this up with Perfect Stranger, which also features vocals from Katy B who hit #5 with the still charting Katy On A Mission. Magnetic Man’s debut self titled album is also released this week, featuring the aforementioned hits and more. Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me enters at #22 US singer, songwriter and producer Mike Posner makes his debut on these shores with his single Cooler Than Me at #22. Mike performed the song on America’s Got Tatent recently and also an X-Factor contestant performed it last week here, hence its chart entry. Cooler Than Me has already been a top 10 smash in US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and looks likely to become a sizable hit here too over the weeks leading up to full release. Mike Posner is also the name of an ecomonist, a psychologist, a well renowned US lawyer and an Arabian casino owner … a bit of useless information! Professor Green feat Example – Monster enters at #29 Stephen Paul Manderson (AKA Professor Green) gets his third top 30 hit this week, following up his first 2 hits which both went top 5 thanks to samples of well known songs - by INXS and SOS Band respectively. Like its predecessors Monster features additional vocals, this time from UK rapper Example who has had 4 previous top 30 hits. Plan B – The Recluse enters at #35 UK rapper turned soul singer Plan B scores his 4th straight top 40 hit this week, or his 5th if you include End Credits, on which he features. He hit #9 with Stay Too Long, then #3 with She Said, most recently #16 with Prayin’ and now #35 with The Recluse. Each of these singles and indeed the album depict the story of fictional character Strickland Banks, who finds fame with soul songs then loses it all when he ends up prison for a crime he did not commit. A continuation also to this The Ballad Of Belmarsh is due for release next year, along with similarly themed singles. Tinie Tempah hits #1 with his album Rapper Tinie Tempah has had huge success with Pass Out and Written In The Stars hitting #1 and Frisky #2, now he proves his album credentials as The Disc-overy hits the top. Mumford & Sons reach a new peak of #3 with Sigh No More, almost a year since its initial release. 80’s band Aha come in at #8 with another hits retrospective entitled 25, same title as compilations by George Michael and Simply Red. Metal rockers Bring Me The Horizon debut at #9 with their album There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Been … OK we believe you! Disney actress Selena Gomez returns with her Scene for a second top 20 album A Year Without Rain … if only that was the weather forecast! It would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday this week, and so another hits compilation enters the top 20 this week, entitled Power To The People. The highly opinionated bit! I am both surprised and happy to see Cee Lo Green hit #1 with F**k You as I really love that song, not because it has swearing in it but because it has a good melody. Whilst I do really like Shame by Robbie & Gary, I feel that it could have been much better and is a bit too contrived really. Don’t like Swedish House Mafia / Tinie’s song at all, Magnetic Man’s is not that great either for me. However I absolutely love Kings Of Leon’s new one almost as much as a loved the last album … which is a lot! Mike Posner’s Cooler Than Me is OK but nothing special, have a feeling it may be a grower for me. Don’t like Monster but at least it doesn’t ruin any classic songs the way the first 2 Professor green songs did. I love Plan B’s Strickland Banks album and singles from it, The Recluse is no exception … She Said is still better though.

#1 is Written In The Stars for Tinie Tempah Rapper Tinie Tempah scores his second number one hit this week as new release Written In The Stars storms in at the top, as widely expected. This follows hot on the heals of chart topper Pass Out and #2 Frisky, which was beaten to the top by charity single Shout For England. Tinie has been one of 2010’s big successes and is due to release his debut album Disc-Overy next week. So judging on the huge success of the 3 singles so far, I would expect that to challenge for #1 and several cherry picked tracks to appear in next week’s singles chart. Labrinth – Let The Sun Shine enters at #3 So the battle for supremacy this week was always set to be between Tinie Tempah and his collaborator Timothy McKenzie, going under the name Labrinth. London based singer Labrinth is currently signed to Simon Cowell’s label Syco and is his first non-talent show in over 6 years. He is best known for collaborating with Tinie Tempah on his previous 2 hits and now he releases his debut solo single in the same week as Tinie. Let The Sun Shine debuts at #3 this week, I wish he could to improve our weather! Adele – Make You Feel My Love reenters at #4 Talking of Simon Cowell, his X-Factor programme is responsible for Adele’s reapperence this week at #5, as the track was performed on there once more. Adele first charted in 2008 with #2 hit Chasing Pavements and 2 subsequent top 20 hits then Make You Feel My Love made #26. A few weeks ago, her cover of the Bob Dylan song reentered at a new peak of #24 but still remained Adele’s smallest hit. That all changes now as she gets her 2nd highest peak ever and her 2nd top 5 hit, almost 3 years since her first. Enrique Iglesias feat Nicole Scherzinger – Heartbeat climbs to #8 After entering the chart at #13 last week, Heartbeat now climbs into the top 10 for Enrique Iglesias alongside Nicole Scherzinger. This is now Enrique’s 7th top 10 hit in total, following on from the still charting I Like It. Heartbeat is Nicole’s 10th (including 8 Pussycat Dolls hits and P Diddy’s Come To Me). Kylie Minogue – Get Outta My Way enters at #12 Aussie pint sized superstar Kylie Minogue returns to the charts for the second time this year, albeit slightly lower than she is accustomed to charting. Get Outta My Way is the second release from her current Aphrodite album, following up the #3 smash All The Lovers. This is now Kylie’s 43rd top 20 hit since her 1987 debut I Should Be So Lucky, in fact only 2008’s The One missed the top 20 in her entire career. Not bad for a lady who has been written off more times than I remember. Wombats – Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) enters at #23 Indie band the Wombats return to the chart this week with their brand new release entitled Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves). This follows on in the same vain as 2007 top 20 hits Let’s Dance To Joy Division and Moving To New York, latter being their biggest hitting #13. Tokyo is the first track to be taken from the bands upcoming second album, due for release in the coming weeks. LZ7 – This Little Light enters at #26 The #26 new entry this week comes from a Christian urban music collective entitled LZ7 with their single This Little Light. This is another charity single for the Message Trust campaign Shine Your Light, aiming to unleash the potential of today’s youth. Like Delirious earlier on this year, this is also the result of an online campaign to get Christian music into the mainstream charts, and raise money for charity at the same time. Status Quo – In The Amry Now 2010 enters at #31 Now for another charity song, this time from veterans Status Quo who make a return to the top 40 this week, in aid of the Help For Heros charity. The Quo made their debut back in 1968 with Pictures Of Matchstick Men and have amassed a total of 22 top 10 hits in their career, including #1 hit Down Down. One of these hits was 1986’s In The Army Now which originally made #2 and has now been rerecorded for the Help For Heros charity, to help our war heros in Afghanistan and other dangerous places. Danny Bird – Ill Behaviour enters at #36 A very badly behaved Danny Bird gets his very first top 40 hit this week, a new entry at #xx this week with Ill Behaviour! Danny Bird is a drum & bass DJ from Bath in Somerset, who was one of the first artists to sign for Hospital Records in 2000. He has released 2 albums and several singles since then but none have made a chart impact, until now. Ill Behaviour is taken from Danny’s forthcoming 3rd album Rave Digger, due for release shortly. KT Tunstall – (Still A) Wierdo enters at #39 Scottish singer songwriter Kate Victoria Tunstall returns to the charts this week at #39 under the better known name of KT Tunstall. KT first came to prominence in 2004 with The Black Horse & The Cherry Tree, 2 top 20 hits Other Side Of the World and Suddenly I See followed that year along with her debut album Eye To The Telescope. Second album Drastic Fantastic only spawned one top 40 hit Hold On which made #21. Now scrapes into the top 40 at #39 with her new release (Still A) Wierdo, taken from her third studio album. The Script return to #1 with Science & Faith[/u] The script have proven to have a very successful second album as Science & Faith returns to #1 after being knocked off by Phil Collins last week, who is going back down to #3 now. Mark Ronson gets his second #2 album as his Record Collection enters at #2, alongside various collaborators known as Business Intl. The Central Band of the RAF enter at #4 with their collection entitled Reach For The Stars. KT Tunstall debuts at #5 with album #3 tiger Suit, following up her first 2 studio albums which peaked at #3 in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Eric Clapton makes #7 with his 19th solo studio album entitled Clapton, his highest charting album since 2001’s Reptile. Simply Red return at #9 with their Greatest Hits following their One Night Only TV show. Other new/re entries come from David Bowie, Neil Young and Jimmy Eat World. Opinion I don’t like Tinie Tempah at all, I found Pass Out and Frisky very annoying and have the same opinion about this new one … mind you he is a good rapper if you’re into that sort of stuff I guess! On the other hand I have grown to like Labrinth’s solo song Let The Sun Shine and think it should’ve been #1 instead but that was never going to happen. I am happy to see Adele’s beautiful rendition of Make You Feel My Love finally become the top 5 hit it deserves to be. I love Heartbeat by Enrique/Nicole and am glad to see it rise to #8. I am not keen on Kylie’s new one so not surprised it missed top 10, not keen either on Wombats or that LZ7 rubbish. I admit to liking a lot of the Quo’s songs in the past even if they do sound alike, In The Army Now has long been a favourite of mine so good to see it chart, of course good for the charity also. I’ve been a big fan of KT Tunstall up until now but this new one doesn’t do much for me at all, still it’s better than that Danny Bird dirge!

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are is the new #1 US singer songwriter Peter Gene Hernandez goes straight in at #1 under his stage name of Bruno Mars with his first full solo release Just The Way You Are. The title is not to be confused with Billy Joel's hit of the same name. Bruno Mars is of course no stranger to chart success, featuring on 2 major rap hits this year, namely BoB's #1 Nothing On You and Travie McCoy's #3 Billionaire. He co-wrote both of these hits as well as for Alexandra Burke, Brandy, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida. There was a digital EP released entitled It's Better If You Don't Understand which hit #97 in August ... well I understand perfectly well! This dethrones Alexandra Burke's Start Without You which broke the 10 week run of single week #1's, however next week it is likely to be dethroned by Tinie Tempah or Labrinth then Robbie & Gary. Emma's Imagination - Focus enters at #7 This week, Glasgow singer songwriter Emma Gillespie was crowned winner of Sky TV's Must Be The Music talent show. Off the back of that victory, Emma's Imagination gets this week's highest new entry at #7 with Focus, the song she sung on the final. This follows on from This Day entering at #10 a fortnight ago, which she also performed this week and subsequently climbs back up 6 places to #25. There is also a full length track entitled Stamp Your Feet which enters at #65 this week, so I think we can expect big things from Emma when she is fully launched. Shontelle - Impossible clumbs to #9 Barbadan singer songwriter Shontelle Layne returned last week to prove that a second top 10 hit is not impossible for her, climbing a further place this week! Shontelle first charted in 2008 with her #6 debut single T-Shirt, then in 2009 she hit #23 alongside Akon on Stuck With Each Other but lack of promotion meant that nobody heard her Battle Cry as that track made #61. All of these tracks are taken from her debut album Shontelligence, which came about after a game whereby words were made from her name. Alex Gaudino - I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It) enters at #10 Another act getting a second top 10 hit his week is Italian DJ Alessandro Fortunato Gaudino, known as Alex Gaudino. Alex is pehaps best known for his 2007 mash-up Destination Carabria featuring vocals from the track's original singer Crystal Waters. However prior to this, he has produced hits for Robbie Rivera, The Temperer and Black Legend amongst others. In 2008 he scored a second top 20 hit with vocalist Shena on Watch Out, now he hits #10 with new track I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It). Enrique Iglesias feat Nicole Scherzinger - Heartbeat enters at #13 Spanish suerstar Enrique Iglesias has teamed up with former Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger for his new single Heartbeat and enters at #13 this week, following a performance on Paul O'Grady's new chat show. This follows Enrique's #4 hit I Like It and is now his 14th top 20 hit in total since his 1999 debut, his biggest hit in the UK is Hero, his only #1 so far. Both Heartbeat and Hero share their title with numerous other previous chart hits from the acts as diverse as Buddy Holly, Steps, Futureheads and Mariah Carey. Charice feat Iyaz - Pyramid enters at #17 Filipina singer and Glee actress Charice Pempengco gets her debut chart entry alongside US singler Iyaz this week with Pyramid in at #17 this week. Charice is perhaps best known for playing recurring character Sunshine Corazon in the internation hit TV series Glee. As another artist who is known simply by her first name, Charice rose to fame through YouTube and can now lay claim to a top 20 hit single. She is helped by Iyaz who of course had a huge #1 hit single with Replay this year followed by a #3 Solo then last week his latest single could only make #40, ironically titled So Big! Mark Ronson & Business Intl - The Bike Song UK guitarist, music producer and record label owner Mark Ronson gets his 7th top 40 hit this week as The Bike Song enters at #21, following a performance on Later with Jools Holland. Mr Ronson first hit the singles chart with 2003 #15 hit Ooh Wee featuring rappers Ghostface Killah, Nate Dogg and Trife, this was taken from his debut album Here Comes The Fuzz. He then hit it big in 2007 with his covers album entitled Version, which spawned the #2 hits Stop Me (with Daniel Merryweather) and Valerie (with Amy Winehouse) as well as Oh My God (with Lily Allen) and Just (with Phantom Planet). Earlier this year he scored a #6 hit with Bang Bang Bang (with MNDR and Q Tip), from his forthcoming 3rd album Record Collection. Prefering to credit his collaborators with the universal name Business Intl, the Bike Song enters at #21, this time Kyle Falconer & Spank Rock provide the vocals and rap respectively. Saturdays - Higher enters at #23 UK girl group the Saturdays get another top 40 hit this week as new single Higher enters at #23, expected indeed to go higher in the coming weeks leading up to the full release. This full single release is to include a new version which features rapper Flo Rida, who has twice denied them a #1 at the last minute. Higher is now the girls' 9th UK single release since their 2008 debut, with all but 1 of these making the top 10 but yet to have that ellusive #1 single. Will this one go higher than the rest? Missing Andy - The Way We're Made (Made In England) Here is another act from Must Be The Music in the form of Missing Andy, who are an English (as you may have guessed) rock band who were just beaten by Emma in the final. The band get their second top 40 hit in as many weeks, last week they entered at #36 with Sing For the Deaf, this week they enter at #38 with The Way We're Made, also bearing the subtitle of Elton John's hit Made In England. Phil Collins cilmb to #1 in the albums with Going Back Last week Veteran Phil Collins entered at #4 with his new album of Motown covers aptly named Going Back, this week following on from his TV show One Night Only he rises to #1 to claim his 12th #1 album. This is at the expense of the Manic's who were leading the way all week only to end up at #3 with their new album Postcards From A Young Man, following on from their single (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love which only made #28. Maroon 5 are another act with an album chart new entry off the back of an underforming single, Misery only hit #30 but third album Hands All Over does rather better by entering at #6, if short of the #1 peak of their first 2 albums. Other new entries of note this week come from Seal, rockers Black Country Communion, Santana, Taio Cruz and Usher amongst others. Opinion I am happy to see Bruno Mars get #1 as I really like Just The Way You Are especially since it does not contain any rap, one complaint is that it has once again taken them so long to release this after months of airplay. Emma's Imagination is brilliant, although I do prefer This Day to the rather slower sound of Focus. I don't like Alex Gaudino's song much, mind you I don't like much from that genre anyway. However I do love Enrique and Nicole's Heartbeat as is it such a nice song with a nice piano arrangement, Pyramid by Charice is also really good. Not too sure about The Bike Song yet, its ok if a bit wierd in places and doesn't go anywhere much for me. I quite like Higher even if it's not the best Saturdays song, that honour would have to go equaly to Ego and Up.

  23. Alexandra Burke feat Laza Morgan - Start Without You For the 10th week in a row, there is a brand new #1, this week it belongs to X-Factor winner Aleandra Burke who starts at the top with Start Without You. After winning X-Factor in 2008, Alexandra of course gotr the obligitory #1 with her cover of Hallelujah which went on to sell 1 million. Last year she hit #1 alongside Flo Rida with her Bad Boys, then they gave her Broken Heals (#8) but she went on All Night Long (#4 earlier this year). The 4 singles so far are taken from her chart topping debut album Overcome, which is due a re-release to include Start Without You. This stands a very good chance of hanging on at #1 next week and breaking the trend of 1 week #1s after 11 weeks. The Script - For the First Time enters at #5 London based band The Script first charted in 2008 with their #15 hit We Cry, which rather underperformed compared to expectations at the time. However all that changed when The Man Who Can't Be Moved hit #2 and their debut self titled album hit #1 and sold very well. This was followed by #21 peaking Breakeven, this did sell quite respectably though. Now the band can lay claim to a second top 5 hit as it enters For The First Time at #5, from their second album Science & Faith due out next week. McFly - Party Girl enters at #6 UK pop boyband McFly first came on the scene in 2004 with debut #1 single 5 Colours In Her Hair and have since gone on to achieve huge success in the singles chart. They have had a total of 7 #1 hits out of 16 releases in the last 6 years, although most of those have dropped down the charts very quickly from their high debuts. Party Girl marks the return of the quartet with a rather different style which is more suited to the current chart climate, in fact not that different to the likes of JLS and The Wanted. Party Girl enters at #6 to become their 16th top 10 hit, however we will see if the longevity is any better this time around. Emma's Imagination - This Day enters at #10 This week sees a 2nd top 10 hit to come from the Sky 1 talent show Must Be The Music, as Glasgow based singer songwriter Emma Gillespie debuts at #10. Under the stage name of Emma's Imagination, This Day follows in the footsteps of Pepper & Piano's You Took My Heart by making top 10. Alesha Dixon - Drummer Boy enters at #15 Singer, songwriter, dancer and TV personality Alesha Anjanette Dixon first came to light as part of Mis-Teeq who had 7 top 10 hits out of 8 releases between 2000 and 2005, biggest of these being #2 hits All I Want and Scandalous. Alesha then decided to go solo and had a #14 hit with Lipstick then Knockdown certainly was as it missed the top 40 altogether and resulted in Alesha being dropped from her record label and first album not being released. However she came back with 2 big hits in 2008 with #5 hit The Boy Does Nothing and #3 Breathe Slow, and a gold selling album The Alesha song. #13 hit Let's Get Excited and #15 hit To Love Again followed last year also. Now Drummer Boy gets a #15 debut as the first single from her forthcoming second album The Entertainer. Greg Street - Turn My Swag On enters at #17 Turn My Swag On was the third single release from rapper Soulja Boy's second album iSoulja Boy, but never charted in the UK as it was never released as a single. However X-Factor conestant Cher (not to be confused with Sonny Bono's ex-wife of the same name), the track has come to light in a different form. Turn My Swag On was covered by Keri Hilson and it was her version that was sung on X-Factor, however due to Keri's version not being available, another cover version by Greg Street has been downloaded instead. There was doubt over whether it would be chart elligible, however it is and it enters at #17 this week. Pictures - Tears enters at #33 Now for a 3rd Must Be The Music entry, indie band The Pictures make their debut at #33 with another of the performances from the semi-finals of the Sky 1 show. If a Sky 1 talent show can produce 3 top 40 hits then it is very possible the X-Factor could do bigger things if the performances from it were all released online in the same manner. The XX - Islands enters at #39 The XX are a London based band who were originally formed in 2005 and have so far had no commercial success, despite releasing a critically acclaimed album and several singles which failed to chart. After winning the Mercury Music Prize, The XX now finally make the top 40 as Islands climbs to #39 this week. Linkin Park - The Catalyst enters at #40 US rock band Linkin Park first made their mark on these shores in 2000 with debut single One Step Closer which made #24 off the back of critical acclaim. They have since gone on to achieve 5 top 10 hits out of 15 releases, with the highest charting being What I've Done and the biggest selling being Numb/Encore with Jay Z. Now the first single from their 4th studio album enters at a rather lowly #40 The Catalyst, however hopes are high to achieve their 3rd #1 album next week. Brandon Flowers flies to the top of the album charts with Flamingo After a top 10 debut solo single, Killers frontman Brandon Flowers makes a flight to the very top of the album charts this week with Flamingo, originally intended to be a Killers album. Behind Brandon at #2 is last week's #1 from Katy Perry and a massive climb to a new high of #3 for The XX after their Mercury win. Electro duo Hurts debut at a very repectible #4 with their introductory offering Happiness, bringing just that to the group I'd say! US metal group Stone Sour find themselves with a top 10 album as their 3rd album Audio Secrecy is not a secret any more in at #6. Ray Lamontagne, James, Charlatans and Brian Wilson also have new entries with their respective new albums this week. Personal Opinion I am happy to see Alexandra Burke top the charts, as I am beginning to really like Start Without You, wasn't sure at first but the track is now growing on me. I loved The Script's debut album and whilst For The First Time is not their best, I still rather like it and am happy to see it in the top 5. I've never been a McFly fan in the past, however I'd say this new single is quite good but not brilliant. I really like Emma's Imagination and am pleased to see some different sounding songs hit the top 10, as with Pepper & Piano from last week, I also like The Pictures even if it does sound slightly Killers/KOL like. Not keen on Linkin Park's new one, there again I've never been a fan of their style of music in the past. Islands by The XX is very pleasent and a bit different to most of the songs in the charts, I might just invest in their album.
