Ah so it was, I forgot that one was released twice ... before and after their trio of top 10 hits.

This should also be available shortly on the front page ... hopefully! We No Speak Americano is the new #1 single for Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP After its early release due to the presence of a cover, We No Speak Americano entered at #5, rose to #2 last week and now makes it to #1 for Australians Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP. By enlarge an instrumental track, the lyrics that are there are in Italian with the main chorus translating as: “How can your loved one understand you if you're speaking half American? When you're out loving under the moon, where do you get a phrase like 'I love you'?". In what is essentially a reshuffled top 15 from last week, the only other movement of note is the 8-5 climb for Eliza Doolittle’s Pack Up. Plan B - Prayin' climbs to #16 Prayin’ is the third single to be taken from Plan B’s second album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks, which has gone on to sell very well indeed after topping the albums listings. The single gets its full release on Monday, so another climb next week may not be out of the question. B’s massive last single She Said also rises back up 8 places to #25, mainly due to cherry picking from the Now 76 album. So the payers that she said seemed to help then! Jason Derulo - What If climbs to #19 One of the biggest new stars of 2010 has to be Jason Derulo, opening with 3 top 3 singles – Whatcha Say, In My Head and Riding Solo. Now single #4 to be taken from his debut self titled album rockets up 21 places to #19 this week. Full release is 3 weeks away so I’d expect this to progress further in the coming weeks also, perhaps a 4th top 5 hit? Usher feat Pitbull - DJ's Got Us Falling In Love enters at #20 Another act who seems to be doing incredibly well this year so far is US superstar Usher, his new single DJ’s Got Us Falling In Love makes its debut at #20. This is of course the follow up to the huge #1 hit OMG, which is one of the top 3 best selling singles of the year so far. This is another single to feature collaborator of the moment Pitbull, joining the latest hits from Alexandra and Enrique in this week’s chart. Basshunter – Saturday enters at #21 Jonas Erik Altberg is a 26 year old Swedish dance producer and singer songwriter, going under the better known pseudonym of Basshunter. Mr Hunter first came onto the scene with massive 2007 #1 hit Now You’re Gone, he followed that up with #2 single All I Ever Wanted and 2 further top 20 hits Angel In The Night and Every Morning. Saturday is the first single to be taken from his forthcoming fourth album, entering just outside the top 20 at #21 this week. Pendulum – Witchcraft enters at #29 Another Australian act join Yolanda in the top 30 this week, drum and bass group Pendulum swing their way into #29 with new single Witchcraft. The band were first formed in 2002 and have had several small hits, however 2 of these singles made top 10 – 2007’s #9 peaking Propane Nightmares and this year’s #4 hit Watercolour. Pendulum’s third album Immersion was the first ever drum and bass album to top the UK charts, from which this is the second single. Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love enters at #36 Having been a semi-finalist in 2008’s X Factor, Diana Vickers has gone on to achieve a #1 single Once and #1 album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree. However both the single and the album were very quick to plummet down the charts, and now the second single is somewhat struggling. Entering as it does at #36, many would have expected The Boy Who Murdered Love to do rather better than this. It seems very likely that this will also murder her career, however the album has recovered slightly, re-entering the top 20 this week. Scouting For Girls – Famous enters at #37 Just a place below Diana is another act following up a #1 single from earlier this year with a much lower peaking one. Scouting For Girls first came on the scene in 2007 with their first 3 singles all going top 10 – She’s So Lovely, Elvis Ain’t Dead and Heartbeat. This year they then stormed to #1 with comeback single This Ain’t A Love Song, however their followup Famous is not such a success as it enters at #37. Eminem – Recovery stays at #1 in the albums chart Eminem remains at #1 in the album charts for the fourth week with Recovery, only Kylie prevented him from having 5 consecutive weeks at the summit. Eminem’s biggest challenge was from another rapper, Professor Green’s debut Alive Till I’m Dead enters at #2 off the back of his 2 top 5 singles. This week’s top 3 albums are all from white rappers, although Plan B at #3 is more of a singer now but started off as a rapper. Other new entries in the album charts include Seth Lakeman, 3 Oh 3, Sheryl Crow, Sting and RPA & United Nations Of Sound. Personal opinion Whilst I am happy to see a #1 that is not rap or urban influenced, I am still not keen on We No Speak Americano. I really like Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle and am happy to see it rise up to #5 this week. I don’t like the new Usher song much, much prefer OMG which to me is actually OK. I hated Basshunter’s rubbish at the beginning and still do, new single being no exception! Pendulum’s new song is OK however I’ve never been that big a fan of them, their songs sound similar to me. I liked Once by Diana Vickers but the new one just isn’t as good, on saying that I think it deserves better than #36. I’ve always quite liked Scouting For Girls, Famous is good but not as good as This Ain’t A Love Song.

Ah yes I forgot about Dizzee because of the bizarre credit on the single and yes Lady Gaga would indeed count even although Bad Romance was a #1 from last year which did reclimb this year.

BoB feat Hayley Williams – Airplanes climbs to #1 Another week and another new number one, as BoB flies up to the top of the charts alongside Paramore singer Hayley Williams. This now makes BoB the first act to have 2 #1 singles this year, following on from Nothin’ On You which features Bruno Mars. This is another one of this year’s #1 singles to hang around the lower reaches then climb to #1, rather like Telephone (Gaga/Bey) and OMG (Usher/Will) have done. On the other hand there are those that enter at #1 then plummet very quickly, such as Dirtee Disco (Dizzee) and Once (Diana Vickers) have done. Last week’s #1 from JLS will probably be in the latter category as it slumps 1-7 this week. Professor Green feat Lily Allen – Just Be Good To Green enters at #5 Stephen Paul Menderson gets his second straight top 5 hit this week as he asks everyone to be good to him, well the public seemingly have by making him #5! This follows up his #3 hit I Need You Tonight which samples the INXS song of a similar title. Like its predecessor, Just Be Good To Green samples a big 1980’s hit, this time it is Just Be Good to Me by SOS Band. The song has also been used by Norman Cook for Beats International’s Dub Be Good To Me, a massive #1 in 1990. Just Be Good To green features Lily Allen and provides her with her fifth top 10 hit in total – previous ones being Smile #1, LDN #6, Oh My God (with Mark Ronson) #8, The Fear #1 and Not Fair #5. Mark Ronson feat Business Intl – Bang Bang Bang enters at #6 UK music producer Mark Ronson makes a return his week with a Bang as he explodes in at #6 with his new single. Ronson first came to light with his 2003 #15 single Ooh Wee then hit the height of his popularity in 2007 with Stop Me (feat Daniel Merriweather) and Valerie (feat Amy winehouse), both of which hit #2. Now he returns alongside New York duo MNDR and rapper Q Tip with the first single to come from his forthcoming third album Record Collection. The song is based on the popular French Canadian children's song Alouette, which means skylark. The chorus directly references lyrics from this song such as "Je te plumerai la tête", which means "I shall pluck your head"! MIA – XXXO enters at #27 Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam gets a second entry in the UK singles chart this week, as her new single debuts at #26. The single is bizarrely titled XXXO, however the album (also out this week) is entitled /\/\/\Y/\. In 2008, Paper Planes made #19 but had a good long chart run thanks to the track’s use in TV programme Pineapple Express and film Slumdog Millionaire. Jason Derulo – What If enters at #40 US singer songwriter Jason Derulo gets his forth UK top 40 hit this week as he enters at the bottom rung, but looking likely to become a big hit in future weeks. Jason’s debut single came last year in the form of the Imogen Heap sampling #3 hit Whatcha Say, followed by #1 hit In My Head and #2 Riding Solo. What If is Jason’s first slow tempo ballad and not to be confused with the Lightning Seeds hit of the same title. Eminem – Recovery climbs back to #1 in the albums chart US rapper Marshal Mathers III makes a recovery after slipping to #2 last week behind Kylie’s Aphrodite, with whom he swaps places this week. Highest new entry comes in at #3 for the self titled debut album from hot newcomer Eliza Doolittle, talking to the animals has apparently helped her to #3 this week! UK indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club enter at #8 with their second album entitled Flaws, it seems that the flaws haven’t affected the album’s chart position then! The Coral enter at #16 with their fifth studio album and the first to miss the top 10 since their #5 2002 self titled debut and 2003 #1 Magic & Medicine. Tired Pony are a country music side project for Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody along with Richard Colburn from Belle & Sebastian, Peter Buck from REM and several others, first album The Place We Ran From enters at #17. Other new entries can be found from MIA, Korn and Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse. Personal opinion Airplanes has grown on me lots recently and I actually quite like it now and certainly prefer it to the JLS song that it replaced at #1. I still don’t like that Americano track but can see its appeal as it is something different I guess. Professor Green’s song is just like his last in that he totally ruins a classic song, also this is easily the worst thing Lily Allen has ever put her name to. I actually quite like Bang Bang Bang by Mark Ronson, different from his previous stuff certainly. I love Prayin’ by Plan B and am glad to see it get top 20. I also rather like MIA’s new song and Drake’s Find Your Love isn’t that bad either, I am also liking Jason Derulo’s What If.

JLS claim their third #1 single and Kylie claims her 4th #1 album, her first in almost 9 years JLS are of course the boy band who rose to fame after coming second to Alexandra Burke in 2008's X Factor, managed by a certain Louis Walsh. Almost exactly a year ago, the group released their debut single Beat Again which went straight to #1 and has now sold upwards of 500,000 copies in the UK. This was followed up with chart topper Everybody In Love and #6 hit One Shot, all 3 of which their debut self titled album which has sold almost 1.2 million so far. Now is the time then to release the first single from forthcoming album #2 The Club Is Alive, with this they prove that their very loyal fanbase is indeed alive as they top the charts for the 3rd time. Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano enters at #5 Following the appearence of the Marco Calliari cover version last week (which dips 26-63 now), the original version makes its chart debut at #5 this week. It is by the oddly named Spanish / English duo Yolanda Be Cool, consisting of Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson alongside Australian producer DCUP (Duncan McLennan). The track has so far made top 5 in Denmark, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Norway, with the UK now added to that list. We No Speak Americano uses a sample of the 1956 hit "Tu vuò fà l'americano" by Renato Carosone, whom I suspect does not speak Americano but rather Italiano! 3Oh3 feat Ke$ha - My First Kiss enters at #7 Colorado based electro / hip hop group 3Oh3 make a return to the UK charts this week, alongside fellow US singer Kesha Rose Sebert. My First Kiss is the first single to be lifted from 3Oh3's third album Streets Of Gold and sees the group team up with Ke$ha once again, after Blah Blah Blah hit #11 for Ke$ha feat 3Oh3. They also teamed up with Katy Perry on Starstrukk which hit #3 after being released at the tail end of last year, folowing up twice top 30 hit Don't Trust Me. Eliza Doolittle - Pack Up enters at #12 UK singer songwriter and former child actress Eliza Doolittle gets her second top 40 hit and first 20 hit to date as she Packs Up after wearing her Skinny Genes which made #22 eariler on this year. Pack up is another of this week's new entries to sample an old song, this time it is the 1915 war time song Pack Up Your Troubles In your Old Kit Bag. This track also features an uncredited vocal from Lloyd Wade who made the final of 2004's X Factor. Ms Doolittle won't be packing up just yet as her debut self-titled album is released this week! Kelis - 4th Of July (Fireworks) enters at #32 To find out the date this track was given its full release, you need only look at the title! Released on Independence Day, Kelis now has her second hit of the year with the followup to massive top 5 hit Acapella. 4th Of July (Fireworks) makes its debut at a comparitively low #32 this week. Since her UK debut in 1999, Kelis Jones has amassed 8 UK top 20 hits with the biggest and most famous being her #2 hits Milkshake (2003) and Trick Me (2004). Lee Ryan - I Am Who I Am / Secret Love Former member of boyband Blue, Lee Ryan makes a return to the UK top 40 with his double A sided single I Am Who I Am and Secret Love. From 2001 to 2005, the band Blue managed 11 top 10 hits out of 12 releases and are probably best known for All Rise, One Love and Flyby, before going their own ways. Lead singer Lee Ryan then managed 3 solo top 20 hits in 2005, including #3 hit Army Of Lovers before anouncing that he was quitting the music business. Now he has decided to try again and hits #33 with the combination of his own Secret Love and cover of I Am Who I Am, originally an album track for Ben's Brother. Drake - Find Your Love Canadian singer, rapper and actor Aubrey Drake Graham makes his top 40 debut this week at #36 under the single name of Drake with latest single Find Your Love. As well as being a member of hip hop super-group Young Money, Drake has worked with many hip-hop artists including Lil Wayne, Jeezy, Kanye West, Eminem and Jay-Z. Despite also releasing 4 singles in the UK previously, none of these have made the top 40 (except Bedrock by Young Money). This changes now as he finds enough love to make the top 40 as an artist in his own right, his first full album Thank Me Later also made top 20 a few weeks ago. Kylie hits #1 in the album charts with Aphrodite Over in the album charts, pint sized Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue returns to top form as Aphrodite provides her with her first UK #1 album since 2001's Fever, coming a whole 22 years after her debut hit the top. Last week's top 4 maintain their top 5 positions ahead of Enrique Iglesias with his 9th album in total (4 Spanish and 4 English previously) and first Bilingual offering, in at #6. Feeder enter at #16 with their 7th studio album Renegades, the first of 2 albums due this year from the band as they are now. Rock Choir was established in 2005 to offer the general public an opportuntity to sing pop, gospel and Motown songs, without the need for previous singing experience and no auditions. So the first release from a new 4 album deal sees the 5000+ piece act make their debut at #19 this week. Other acts with new album entries include Mystery Jets, Cherry Ghost and I Am Kloot. Personal opinion I am not keen on the new JLS song but it is OK I Guess, I can't help thinking that they won a singing competition and this track uses too much autotune for my liking. I don't like BoB's Airplanes much either, although similar in style I do actually quite like Eminem and Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie. I'm not a fan of that Americano track, and I don't like either 3Oh3 or Ke$ha, so it will come as no surprise that I'm no fan of My First Kiss. On a more positive note, I do rather like Eliza Doolittle with her very catchy song Pack Up, it is also great to see Plan B make progress up the charts with the brilliant Prayin'. I like 4th July by Kelis and think it deserves better, especially as a follow up to her massive top 5 hit Acapella. I have always liked Blue but disliked Lee Ryan as a person, however both of his new songs are actually quite good in a Lemar sort of way.
  9. Thanks for that extra info Zeus. Just goes to show how consistent both Eminem and Kylie really have been and continue to be, I'm not a huge Kylie fan either but really like a fair number of songs by her. That also shows just what a hugely popular act Abba were back in the day, and still are if Abba Gold's sales are anything to go by.
  10. Cheers Mikey!
  11. Katy Perry stays at #1 in the singles chart with California Gurls After selling over 100k last week to top the charts, Katy Perry stays at the top with her UK second chart topping single California Gurls, alongside rapper Snoop Dogg. Katy is looking unlikely to make it 3 weeks though, as JLS relelase their new single this week and the proper version of We Speak No Americano is out also. BoB feat Hayley Williams - Airplanes climbs to #2 and Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers climbs to #3 All the mid-week sales flashes indicated that Australian superstar Kylie Minogue would get her 12th #2 hit in the UK this week after the physical being released, however she was beaten at the last minute by BoB. Airplanes rises another 10 places to land at #2, the track features vocals from Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams, who have never had a top 10 hit let alone a #2 one. Ms Minogue rises 3 places to #3 to make All The Lovers her second single to peak at #3 in the UK since her 1987 debut, compare this with 11 #2s (which are widely regarded as her best songs) and 7 #1s (including one as a duet). Enrique Iglesias feat Pitbull - I Like It enters at #4 Spanish pop latino singer Enrique Iglesias gets this week's highest new entry with new single I Like It, clearly many people do indeed like it. The son of Julio Iglesias, Enrique first rose to fame in 1999 with debut single Bailamos, his first 3 albums were sung in Spanish prior to this. He is probably best known for the 2002 mega #1 hit Hero, the 17th best selling single of the 2000s, this was followed up with the title track to his massive selling album Escape and several other hits, most recently Taking Back My Love which hit #12. I Like It is now Enriaue's 13th top 40 hit in the UK, Pitbull who also appears on this track was last seen alongside Alexandra Burke on All Night Long which also peaked at #4. Skepta - Rescus Me enters at #14 UK grime rapper Skepta gets his second and biggest solo hit to date this week as Rescue Me debuts at #14. Skepta is one of the many members of hip hop collective Roll Deep, whi scored a massive #1 single just a few months ago with Good Times. Rescue Me incidentally is also the title of different songs by Fontella Bass, Madonna, Buckcherry and The Alarm amongst other artists. Marco Calliari - We Speak No Americano enters at #26 Marco Calliari is a singer songwriter from Quebec who has previously recorded and released 2 albums to date, one containing a recording of We Speak No Americano. This track has been on heavy rotation on radio and TV over the past few months, in its original form by Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup. It is this cover version that makes its chart debut at #26 this week, in the absence of the better known original version due out in the UK next week. Justin Bieber feat Usher - Somebody To Love enters at #33 Canadian teen singing sensation Justin Bieber gets his 4th UK top 40 hit with Somebody to Love this week, alongside Usher. Justin's debut single One Time hit #11 here in the UK, to be followed by #3 smash hit Baby (featuring rapper Ludacris) and the #9 peaking duet with Sean Kingston entitled Eeenie Meenie. Somebody To Love was first released 4 weeks ago and failed to make the top 40, the track was first intended to be on Usher's latests album but was given to Justin instead. Hence a re-recorded version of the song featuring Usher is released and sees the song hit the UK top 40 at #33 as a result. Plan B - Prayin' enters at #36 UK rapper turned singer Plan B gets his 4th top 40 appearence with new single Prayin' entering at #36 this week, very likely to rise in the coming weeks. This follows up his #9 hits End Credits (alongside Chase & Status) and Stay Too Long, and of course #3 mega-hit She Said. The latter 2 singles and this new one come from his #1 album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks, one of the few chart topping albums of this year with genuine staying power. Eminem stays at #1 in the albums chart Mega selling rapper Eminem remains atop the album listings this week with his 6th chart topper Recovery, continuing to sell well. Scissor Sisters first 2 albums hit #1 with their first 2 albums but have to settle for #2 with Night Work, off the back of their 8th top 20 single Fire with Fire. Several albums are on the rise due to Glastonbury appearences including Mumford & Sons, Gorillaz, Muse, Florence & The Machine and Stevie Wonder. Other new releases not making much of an impact include those from K'naan, Zero 7, Kuila Shaker and The Wurzels. Personal opinion! I am a big fan of Katy Perry and love California Gurls, it just sounds perfect in the nice summery weather we're actually getting this year! I wouldn't call myself an Enrique fan, although I have liked Hero, Not In Love and The Ping Pong Song, this new one is pretty catchy as well. I really don't like the new Skepta song, mind you I'm not a fan of grime or rap in general, nor am I a fan of that We Speak No americano track (either version). Justin Bieber is still rubbish, he just sounds like a girl and has no appeal to me at all. However I do really love Plan B's album and Prayin' is one of the highlights from it, sounding a bit like Beggin' mixed with Stop Me which is a good thing as I like both songs. I'm not into rap but I do like Eminem and am glad to see him stay at #1 as I was a bit disappointed by Scissor Sisters new album to be honest.
