Helping Haiti – Everybody Hurts stays at #1 Following on from last week’s huge sales of almost 500k, the Helping Haiti single Everybody Hurts remains at the top of the charts for a second week. This now makes it the biggest selling single of 2010 so far selling more than previous chart toppers Fireflies and Replay. Florence + The Machine & Dizzee Rascal – You Got The Dirtee Love enters at #2 Easily one of the most important dates in the musical event calendar has to be the annual Brit Awards, which took place this week. Most years the resultant sales increases can be seen in the charts, even more this year as can be seen from the highest new entry. One of the standout performances was Dizzee Rascal teaming up with Florence Welsh for a mash-up of Dizzee’s #10 hit Dirtee Cash and Forenace’s top 10 hit You’ve Got The Love. The mash-up is called You Got The Dirtee Love and is simply a live recording of the pair’s performance which was released to download on Wednesday. Lemar – The Way Love Goes enters at #8 UK R&B / soul singer Lemar Obika gets another top 10 hit this week with The Way Love Goes, one of the new tracks to appear on his forthcoming hits album. Known simply as Lemar, he first rose to fame after coming third in the first series of Fame Academy in 2002. Since then he has gone on to have what is now his 7th UK top 10 hit out of 12 full single releases and 4 studio albums to date. His highest charting hit to date remains his #2 debut Dance (With You) however his biggest seller is 2004’s #3 hit If There’s Any Justice. Well that’s the way the chart goes for Lemar! The Brit Awards effect sees several tracks climb back up The Brits effect can be seen with several tracks rebounding in the top 20. Florence & The Machine rises back up to #12 with her cover of You’ve Got the Love. Lady Gaga performed an acoustic mash-up of album track Dance In The Dark and single Telephone (which climbs to #34 this week), however Bad Romance rises to #15. Jay Z & Alicia Keys performed their version of Alicia’s own Empire State Of Mind, that track rises back up to #16 this week. Courteeners – You Overdid It Doll enters at #28 UK indie band The Courteeners make their comeback this week by entering at #28 with the first single from their second album. The single is the uniquely titled You Overdid It Doll, and marks the band’s fifth top 40 hit out of 7 releases with the biggest being #19 hit Not Nineteen Forever … well it wasn’t! Let’s hope they haven’t over done it too much as their album is out next week! Chris Brown – Crawl enters at #35 US R&B singer Chris Brown crawls his way back into the top 40 with new single entitled Crawl, the second from his latest album. It seems that he has lost popularity since the Rihanna incident last year, as his album has flopped and his last single I Can Transform Ya could only make the top 30. Leona Lewis – I Got You enters at #40 X Factor winner and mega superstar Leona Lewis makes a return to the top 40 this week with her second single from second album I Got You. Having had huge success after winning the X Factor and with the massive selling Bleeding Love, Leona seems to be struggling a little of late. Her album Echo may have topped the charts but has not sold as well as expected up to now, also her last single Happy wasn’t well received despite peaking at #2. However she may yet prove everyone wrong and go on to do well this year. This week’s Flop of the Pops! Amongst the tracks not quite making the grade this week is Taylor Swift’s new single Today Was A Fairytale, making the top 40 seems to be a fairytale for her! The US Haiti single perhaps surprisingly misses the top 40 altogether, a remake of We Are The World featuring the likes of Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Pink, Usher, Kanye West and Akon as well as a line from Michael Jackson himself. Kasabian miss out again with new single Vlad The Impaler, probably due to their album selling so well. Disney star Demi Lovato flops with her new single Remember December, as do Muse with Resistance. Glee Cast Music vol 1 enters at #1 in the album chart With the massive success of the TV show and the influx of singles chart entries we have seen, the Glee Cast can now lay claim to a #1 album with The Music vol 1. The Brits effect can also be seen in the albums chart as Lady Gaga rises to #2 and Florence & The Machine rises to #3, just ahead of Alicia Keys at #4. Owl City gets a top 10 new entry with his second album Ocean Eyes, hot on the heals of his massive chart topping single Fireflies. Genesis founder and lead singer Peter Gabriel debuts at #12 with his 8th studio album entitled Scratch My Back, in which he covers 12 songs using no instruments - only orchestra and voice. Next week’s big releases There are lots of big new releases due next week, many calling it the week of death! Brand new releases are due from the likes of Sugababes, Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo, Alphabeat, Chiddy Bang and Wolfmother. Whilst tracks already in the chart are due to climb following full release include Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Jay Sean etc, Timbaland & Katy Perry, JLS and Rihanna. Big new albums are also due from Marina & The Diamonds, Courteeners, Johnny Cash, Erik Hassle and the Hollies. Personal opinion I am happy to see the Haiti Relief fund benefitting from the continued success of Everybody Hurts, I didn’t think I’d like this cover at all but I do! For many the Dizzee and Florence collaboration was the highlight of the Brits however I think it was terrible, however that’s probably due to my dislike of Dizzee Rascal’s shoutings! Thank goodness that didn’t make #1 this week, however the threat remains that it might next week. On the other hand I really like Lemar’s new one and am glad it’s returned him to the top 10. Rihanna’s new song Rude Boy has grown on me quite a bit so I’m glad to see it continue to rise. It is still good to see Alicia’s lovely original version of Empire State Of Mind remain top 5, miles above the rubbish Jay Z version. I hate Chris Brown as a person but have to admit to really liking Crawl, way better than his last piece of dirge. Whilst I really like Leona’s new single I can’t help but think it’s not her best so hardly surprising to see it struggle … I do hope it can make top 20 at least next week. The less said about Glee atop the albums chart the better I think!

Helping Haiti – Everybody Hurts enters at #1 No surprises then that the Simon Cowell backed Haiti relief single has gone straight to #1 on massive sales. Just 3 weeks ago, Simon Cowell was approached by none other than Gordon Brown to arrange a charity single featuring as many of today’s big artists as possible. Rather fittingly due to its lyrics and the fact that it is a popular ballad, the song chosen to cover was REM’s 1993 hit Everybody Hurts. This version features many different acts associated with Mr Cowell but equally as many that are not. The acts appearing are Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Buble, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, 2 of JLS, 2 of Westlife, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams. Next week there is another Haiti charity single coming out with US stars, this one will take some beating sales wise though. Glee Cast – Halo/Walking On Sunshine enters at #9 & It’s My Life/Confessions enters at #14 Out of this week’s Glee Cast releases there are 2 mashup singles entering the top 20, one by the boys and one by the girls. The highest new entry of the 2 is the one by the girls, which mixes up Beyonce's Halo with Katrina & The Waves 80's classic Walking On Sunshine. The mashup sung by the boys is a mix of Bon Jovi's It’s My Life and Usher's Confessions Part 2. This now means that the Glee Cast have 10 top 75 hits and 5 top 40's to their name, all of which are from this year alone. Rihanna – Rude Boy climbs to #10 Climbing 10 places to #10 with Rude Boy, Barbadan singer Rihanna now scores her 12th UK top 10 hit with the second single to be lifted from her Rated R album. This week the video to the track was released which seems to help singles better than a physical release nowadays, full physical is not due for this track. I fully expect that her rudeness will find its way to the top 5 at least in the next few weeks, at least it’s not a Rude Box! Cheryl Cole – Parachute enters at #26 So X-Factor judge, Girls Aloud member, footballer’s wife and now solo star Cheryl Cole gets her third top 40 hit in short order. Forthcoming new single Parachute enters at #26 and nicely follows up top 5 hit 3 Words and chart topper Fight For This Love, expect this at the very least to go top 10. Calvin Harris – You Used To Hold Me climbs to #27 Scottish dance producer and singer Calvin Harris fully released his latest single You Used To Hold Me this week, and thus sees it rise to #27. As well as it being the forth top 30 hit from his latest album, it is also his sixth top 40 hit out of 7 releases in total (not including 2 Dizzee Rascal collaborations - one credited and one not). DJ Zinc feat Ms Dynamite – Wile Out enters at #38 Drum 'n' bass / break step DJ Benjamin Pettit gets his second top 40 hit this week, better known as DJ Zinc. DJ Zinc had a #27 hit in 2007 with 138 Trek then had a further 6 top 75 singles before a 5 year break and reinvention of his sound. This new track features Ms Dynamite, last seen in 2005 with #25 hit Judgement Day, she also had 3 top 20 hits in 2002 with It takes More, Dy-na-mi-tee and Put Him Out. This week’s Flop of the Pops! Amongst the tracks not quite making the grade this week is Chris Brown’s new single Crawl, following up top 30 hit I Can transform Ya. Paolo Nutini doesn’t score Ten Out Of Ten with this one, however it does help the Sunny Side Up album to sell its millionth copy. Mumford & Sons hide in their cave which is outwith the top 40. Sade make their return with Soldier Of Love, as a single this misses the top 40 this week, as does Hurtful by newcomer Erik Hassle. Alicia Keys –Element Of Freedom stays at #1 in the album chart Despite several strong challengers during the week, Alicia Keys manages to retain the #1 album this week keeping Andre Reiu at #2. This week’s highest new entry is the first album from Sade in 10 years and sixth in total, Soldier Of Love debuts at #4. At the beginning of the week it looked like Massive Attack were going to score a third #1 album, in the end though they debut at #6 with 5th studio album Heligoland. Other new entries come from metal band HIM, veteran reggae band UB40, blues star Seasick Steve and opera singer/"Popstar to Opera Star" judge Rolando Vilazon. Next week’s big releases All eyes will surely be on next week’s chart to see how well the US Haiti single will do here in the UK, it is a cover of We Are The World. Also set to make appearances next week are the Courteeners, Lemar, Pixie Lott, Demi Lovato, Big Pink and Leona Lewis amongst others. Not much in the way of album releases, expect for Glee Cast and perhaps Peter Gabriel or Cobra Starship. Personal opinion of the author! I am very happy to see the Helping Haiti charity song debut at #1 with the huge sales it deserves, the song itself is OK but the original is miles better … it’s for a very good cause so good on Mr Cowell! I am happy to see Alicia Keys get the success she so much deserves now, with the album still at #1 and single climbing to #4 … I now hope Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart can also do this well. I hate all these Glee Cast covers/mash-ups and think they are ruining the charts at the moment, even worse that the Journey classic Don’t Stop Believing has dropped out the top 10 but Glee Cast’s awful version is still top 5. I didn’t like Rude Boy at first but now quite like it, not Rihanna’s best song by a long way but still quite good nonetheless. I love Cheryl Cole’s new song Parachutes and think it’s probably her best yet, way better than 3 Words definitely. The new Calvin Harris song is OK but nothing special, better than Ready For The Weekend and Flashback anyway. Finally, I don't think much of DJ Zinc & Ms Dynamite's Wile Out, prefer Dynamite's previous work personally.

I still like them even although their stuff sounds similar, admitedly their earlier songs were better.

Good to see you liking so much ... my entire top 40 except for 4 songs! :w00t:

Thanks all for your feedback. :cheer:

Yeh Seasick Steve seems to be chrning out the albums really quick, I think he'll get top 5 with this at least. I'd agree I can see Massive Attack at #1 then Andre Rieu still at #2. Everybody Hurts is definitely going to be #1 in the singles, selling 300k+ I'd say.

Yeh they're both truly dreadful in my opinion. I'm a very big Queen fan, only cover I've ever liked of any Queen song is George Michael's version of Somebody To Love.

Owl City stays at #1 for a third week with Fireflies Much to the surprise of many I'm sure, Owl City's Fireflies fends off a certain pair of twins, to remain the biggest selling single in the UK for week #3. This is now the first track to have done that since Taio Cruz’s Break Your Heart, the last to stay for 4 weeks at the top was Lily Allen The Fear almost a year ago. Jedward – Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby) enters at #2 John and Edward Grimes are the Irish twin brothers who first made their name on the X Factor last year. The duo are known for their big visual performances, it is this that has made the duo very popular despite being voted off the show before the finals. The track Under Pressure was first recorded by Queen with David Bowie and reached #1 in 1981 then US rapper Vanilla Ice sampling its bassline and had a #1 hit with Ice Ice Baby in 1990. So after a performance of the track at the National Television Awards, Jedward release their very first single puting us all Under Pressure in the Ice ... Baby! However the pressure must have been too much for them in the end as the track which is essentially a mashup misses #1 but does debut at #2 as this week’s highest new entry. Timbaland feat Katy Perry – If We Ever Meet Again climbs to #3 US rapper and producer Timbaland gets himself another top 5 hit this week, as his collaboration with Katy Perry climbs all the way from #17 to land at #3 this week. This is another track which is a good few weeks away from full release, 9 songs in the top 10 in fact are digital only and do not have a CD available. The times are a-changin’ … farewell CD single then! Ke$ha feat 3 Oh 3 – Blah Blah Blah enters at #11 Now for another track that makes a high debut thanks only to cherry picks off a newly released album, Ke$ha gets her second hit this week (not counting her appearance on Flo Rida’s Right Round). Featuring hip hop act 3 Oh 3, the track Blah Blah Blah has been played in adverts for Ke$ha’s album as well as gaining significant radio airplay. As a result it enters at #11 with the possibility of rising further in the coming weeks leading up to full release. Marina & The Diamonds – Hollywood enters at #12 Coming second in the BBC Sound Of 2010 poll, Welsh singer / songwriter Marina Diamandis released her debut single Hollywood under the name Marina & The Diamonds. The diamonds part apparently refers to her fans (Dimandis is Greek for Diamonds), and not her backing band. The track Hollywood debuts just outside the top 10 at #12, however her album I due in 2 week’s time and is surely bound to be big. Glee Cast – Somebody To Love enters at #26 This week the Glee Cast get a third top 40 hit with one of this week’s newly released cover versions after being performed on the show. Somebody To Love was originally a #2 hit for Queen in 1976, this new version enters at #26 this week. Calvin Harris – You Used To Hold Me enters at #38 Scottish producer / singer Calvin Harris gets another top 40 hit this week with the forth single from his second album. You Used To Hold Me debuts at #38 and is sure to climb a bit next week as it is due its full release then. Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone enters at #39 Entering the top 40 this week is the next single from Lady Gaga to be taken from her Fame Monster album, following the chart topping Bad Romance. The track features Beyonce and is the second track to be released featuring the 2 ladies and relating to the communications device! Video Phone is a Beyonce track featuring Gaga and was released in December but could only get to #58. Telephone is a Lady Gaga track and in fact charted at #30 last year as an album track so is actually a top 40 re-entry. Which is best Video Phone or Telephone? … only one way to find out! This week’s also rans! Amongst this week’s tracks to miss out on a top 40 placing are Ash’s latest single from their fortnightly schedule Neon. Editors miss out with their new single You Don’t Know Love, as does a new version of Sweet Harmony by Danny Bird feat Liquid. There was a Facebook campaign to get Untouchable into the top 10 for Girls Aloud, it has failed miserably missing the top 100 altogether! Alicia Keys tops the album charts with Element Of Freedom After debuting at #17 in December, Alicia Keys now makes it to #1 with fourth album Element Of Freedom, ahead of a climb from Dutch composer, violinist and singer Andre Rieu. UK Singer songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae released her second album The Sea and finds it enter at #5 as this week’s highest new entry. US superstar Ke$ha’s debut album Animal makes an entry in at #8, 1 ahead of Peter Andre’s ballad collection Unconditional Love Songs timed well for Valentine’s Day. Electro-pop/alternative act Hot Chip enter at #11 with new album One Life Stand, following up 2008’s top 5 Made In The Dark. Journey embark on a Greatest Hits entry at #12 on the back of the huge hit Don’t Stop Believing. 1990’s group Ocean Colour Scene make a comeback with their 9th studio album in at #35 this week. Next week’s big new releases[/u] The Help For Haiti cover of Everybody Hurts surely is dead cert for #1 next week, there are also new releases due from Erik Hassle, Miike Snow, Sade, Leddra Chapman and You Me At Six. Massive Attack’s new album Heligoland is very likely to hit #1 there, new releases are also due from Seasick Steve, Rolando Vilazon, HIM, UB40 and Sade. Personal opinion of 007![/u] I am very happy to see the excellent Fireflies stay at #1 for Owl City, for 2 reasons – it is a great song and that it keeps of the tripe that is Jedward. Jedward cannot sing a note and are very annoying, which is why I think Under Pressure didn’t even deserve top 40 let alone #2 … Freddie Mercury must be turning in his grave at that monstrosity! The Timbaland and Katy Perry song has grown on me and I’m actually starting to like it now, unlike most of Timbaland’s previous output. Whilst I still quite like Tik Tok, I really don’t like Ke$ha’s new one … Blah Blah Blah is all I say to that! I really love Marina’s Hollywood, it is very catchy whilst also being a bit different to everything else around. I think Glee Cast’s version of Somebody To Love is terrible … what is this the “murder a Queen classic” week?! Lady Gaga & Beyonce are showing potential with Telephone, wasn’t sure at first but I love that song now. I finally bought the Alicia Keys album and am glad to see it finally top the listings, Corinne’s OK but not brilliant, Peter Andre though is truly terrible and really should give up now I think.

I see what you mean, in this case I should really have included all featured credits as Do You Remember is actually a featured credit. So in that case then this is Sean Paul's 11th top 20 hit and Lil Jon's 3rd. :D
