  8. Oh, this is very interesting thread. I agree in 100%. As a foreigner I've never heard about SAW before but this thread cleared many things to me and now I know why I don't like most of 90's and 00's pop music. ( up till now I've just lived in blissful ignorance about SAW. Ten years ago I just refused to watch musical channels like MTV and VIVA because I couldn't find there anything interesting anymore...) Thanks guys for very interesting reading

If you know some good covers maybe you might like to post them here ;-) I'm new here :teresa: so mods if you think this thread is rubbish, I don't mind if you remove it ;-). ok, here is my first choice. I've found it today on youtube and I like it. The original song is Joy Division's - Heart and Soul l9bH6R3gj0I&feature=related and this is 16 Horsepower's rendition, they definitely add something from their style too. kRE3lybkLZ0

I have a question. Why this thread is in Retro Section? Prog rock is not some prehistoric genre. I think this thread should be in Rock Section. Even if everybody here doesn't likes such music it is still rock  Well maybe I'm wrong but please enlighten me ;)

I said apart from classic stuff but in punk rock genre there is so much really bad music that I can't stand, sorry I can't help it ;-). I don't diss the hole genre, I think that like in prog rock there are really significant bands but also crappy too. I just don't think that Punk is in any rate better than Prog. Well, maybe I'm a little bit unfair and my sis only listen to crappy punk  not the good one ;-) so I have a skewed view on it   I don't like when people generalise the music. I can happily find something good in so many genres (apart of hip hop, R&B.....really not my cup of tea). Yeah some post punk music is great but I can say the same about post prog music too ;-) To be honest I enjoy post punk music so much more than PUNK (which is just boring for me in general) Like I said earlier each to their own.

ruddy biscuit ? (don't understand) I don't know what's wrong with Michael voice, really  ( for me his voice is one of those that you really can feel emotions. I place it with artist like Buckley, Yorke ect..) Do you mean it about his voice in general or this live performance? In fact I'm not sure if I understand what you wrote ( English is not my native language, sorry). :( vocals that would make custard curdle at fifty yards? Is it really about Opeth? I disagree here but It woud make more sense If you were talking about Dream Theater  :puke2: (but I do really like their 'Space dye vest' song ;-)) ZkfrgUTLfWo Oh, yeah Script for a Jester's Tear and Fugazi are great albums but have to disagree about Misplaced Childhood but I guess each to their own haha ;-). Again I don't understand what you wrote  I disagree about punk. I really like some classic stuff from The Clash and Sex Pistols ect. but in general it's a big sh** and I know what I'm writing about. My sister is a great punk rock fan and some of the bands that she listen to are bad beyond belief :puke2: The same I can tell about the best prog music ;-). Just I don't understand why people backlash all genre (and often knowing only two or three prog bands). (I'm not talking particulary about you cos it seems that you know something about it;-))
  16. Jay has some serious problem with his age... Why does he always moaning about it?

But it's a clever stealing cos Fish only repeated what the children were singing... ;) Thank you for your lost time and finding the title of original song :-)

Green Carnation - Maybe. Beautiful song, a little bit more experimental (anybody remembers theremin? It's great!) :yahoo: onvnoiyfOm0
  22. Personally I'm not a fan of their music but I wish them good luck if this is true. Hehe, this thread reminded me when I was at the Slayer gig ten years ago they were supporting act. Poor guys were totally booed by the audience and even some food was thrown at them. They left the stage pissed as hell... I hope that eurovision audience will be more tolerant

Other songs with beautiful melodies. The band is called Green Carnation. As Anathema they have metal past but now for me they are rather prog band. Feel free to tell me what do you think about it (this is especially to all prog haters ;-)) Green Carnation - The Burden is Mine... ka0q8jeaw4g Green Carnation - Alone (poem of E. A. Poe) J6uoaTUFphg&feature=related
