    Isn’t it a double A single?

If I had a fantasy chart, It’d have an automatic reset to SCR on all songs upon having 15 consecutive months absent from the top 40, so SCR would be the default.

More moments of pleasure tomorrow? Looking good for a 2nd week at no.1. Wow!! :) If RUTH gets higher overall combined sales tomorrow, but lower streams than last week, would that reset its SCR? (assuming it doesn't have "buffer" weeks)
  4. Wow, it's great to see RUTH at number one
  5. Khruangbin, yay
  6. glad to see Sia, Jona Lewie reach top 40 , Chris Rea make top 10. For me, Wham at no. 1 would have been the icing on the Christmas cake lol
  7. One that's not on this list, and it was a top 40 hit from 2008 is Status Quo's It's Christmas Time. It's one I play a fair bit this time of year :) It's one of my faves.
  8. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to AJ, I liked her dances a lot too I like Rose, but I'm rooting for John to win
  9. Having a rule change on a timescale that's divisible by whole years, like exactly 3 years, might make it more likely that a song (more likely perhaps a Xmas song), could have an unusual chart run owing to an automatic rule change activation. I would prefer it if SCR kicked in after say 150 or 180 weeks or something. Also, if they did something like an ACR reset if a song had let's say 60 consecutive weeks absent from the top 40, I think that would be cool B-) I like Xmas songs anyway

Connan Mockasin's album Jassbusters Two, was released last Friday. Toying with getting it. His Forever Dolphin Love album is I think a masterpiece.

I would have preferred the 3 year rule, if instead it reset songs after a period of absense from let's say the top 100 of something like 60 weeks. I like Xmas songs, at the right time of year, lol, and footie songs , so I ''m not a fan of the ruling, but get why it's there.

I'm not a fan of this 3 year rule.

If the 3 year rule is primarily an attempt to dampen down Xmas songs, then perhaps an automatic reset of songs of 3 years+ that haven't charted in the top 100 for 60 weeks would be an idea???

A moving, a little worrying and a very powerful episode I felt I watched tonight.
  15. I'm Walking Backwards for Christmas by The Goons a top 10 hit in July one year.
  16. Candy Cane is a grower. I watched it this morning. Yep, wasn't sure at first, but I'm starting to like it. I still prefer Snowman.
  17. The song's nice, but I prefer Pipes of Peace and Winter Bird/When Winter Comes off of his latest Album. As for Snowman, by Sia. I put it high up on my list at #2, so was happy to see it reach this top 40. I prefer it to Santa's Coming For Us. I hadn't seen the video for it before. The one I'm familiar with, I think is an extended TV ad.
  18. Another "seasonal" songfest where older songs may re-appear, is during the Football World Cup. They are also affected by ACR vs SCR, which I also like to see how they do chart wise.

I hope it's Wham! that reaches number 1 tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath, I've read those stats. If it did, it would make my day
  20. I'm not sure if I like ACR or not. I can see the potential for an interesting top 40 chart run, if a Xmas song's "3rd birthday" is just before Xmas.
  21. So what constitutes a Christmas song? "Last Christmas", sure, but what about "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow"? It doesn't mention Christmas, unlike "I Just Called To Say I Love You", which does. B-)

My hunch is that Xmas song streams may hold up quite well this year, until 28th
  23. Thanks for the suggestion, cheers

  25. Maybe Last Christmas will vie for #1 before year end, well here's hoping. I am surprised December Song by George Michael, which for me is at least as good as Last Christmas, doesn't get very high chart wise. Oh and Greg Lake with I Believe in Father Christmas, I'm surprised at that not being a big Xmas chart staple. Oh and while I'm on a roll, Sia, Snowman B-)
