Sales and this weekends album chart.....
I know this is about albums, but ... I think that the singles chart, especially now with downloads in the mix will throw up a few surprizes itself. I think it will be anything but the traditional stagnation of previous years, but I think the #1 will stay the same, though I'm hoping the charity single "What A Wonderful World" will return to the top, but I'm realistic. It's not the first time that X Factor has knocked off a charity single from the #1 spot. Albums wise, I think Led Zeppelin might do it - reaching numero uno.

iTunes.co.uk Download Chart December 2007
Quite. Xmas only started yesterday & finishes on Jan 6th with Epiphany (It was Advent up to Xmas Eve) . But ... Having had Xmas thrust down our throats for what seems like an age, TV ads etc, as soon as Xmas arrives, it's forget Xmas, get yourself a sofa or a holiday or a diet or something   Feels like we never live for the now, only for the future. <_< Anyway, chart wise, I think Xmas downloads have a tendancy to fall sharper than the Physicals do/did & Fairytail Of New York I think is also a physical which may bouy its decendancy down the chart a little.

Christmas Classics most likely to (re-)chart
10 Xmassy tunes in the top 40 already. I wonder how many will be inside the top 40 today? My guess is 13

iTunes.co.uk Download Chart December 2007
I'm sure it's the early part of the working week effect, not exactly the most festive feeling part of the week, even if it is mid December. Mind you, is it just me, but these days by now it kinda feels like Christmas is over before it's begun (or at the very least tapering off), if you know what I mean.

iTunes.co.uk Download Chart December 2007
For me it's the likability of the song, not how old it is that matters and for me the chart is not about the latest releases, but what's most popular to buy each week. I'm just loving seeing all those classic Xmas tunes charting

I'm hoping that a lot of Xmas tunes have had a weekend surge. I hope Greg Lake, Jona Lewie and John Lennon make the top 40 singles chart.

Leon Jackson - When You Believe
I kinda agree. I prefered Leon's version as well and thought that Rhydian did some amazing songs earlier in the show. I don't like the original, but Leon did do a fab job of the song. I hoped SD would win with Rhydian in 2nd place.

Christmas Films
Bad Santa's my fave Xmas film :D When I was a kid, I think the BBC put on The Wizard of Oz after The Queens speach on most Xmases, a film which I loved when I was young :D

Next Weeks No.1
Here's just a thought. I know the X Factor winners physical single is due out on Wed 19th Dec, but I don't know when the download will be available from? I suspect it's gonna be just after midnight, this coming Sunday. But I wondered, what if the download was made available within minutes of the result (assuming that's feasable), how many downloads would be registered between then and midnight. Enough to make #1 the next day???

Making The Chart Better In 2008
I think it would be great if the cut off point for the weekly singles chart was at 3am on a Thursday, with an unveiling on a Thursday evening. Also the Album chart perhaps could have a 3am cut off point on a Friday instead. Why push out both charts at the same time?

X-Factor Week 8
I too like Bridge Over Troubled Water. I think it would have been nice if they sang a festive song each.

I wonder where abouts "Last Christmas" is in the latest chart, as it was at #16 earlier in the week and I haven't see it since. That's one of my favourite Christmas tunes.

Your most played album of 2007

iTunes.co.uk Download Chart December 2007
Some of the Xmas tunes have dropped slightly, or held steady in the last day or two and my guess is it's that the start of the working week is not very Christmassy, so I expect them to climb further towards the weekend. I'm assuming this is a rolling 24 hour chart or something??? Oh, and ITV1 on Monday 10th at 8pm has a programme called "Britian Sings Christmas" I want to see that.

iTunes.co.uk Download Chart December 2007
Yeah, perhaps some people should be writing some new popular Xmas tunes to keep it interesting. It's fun, seeing all those old favourites chart, enjoy  I'm also wondering what classics might chart after Xmas day as I think some old (non Xmas) old favourites might chart. Don't know what though.

How many Xmas songs will enter top 40 this Xmas?
With downloads included in the singles chart, I wonder how many Xmas songs will reach the top 40 by , well I guess the peak week will be on Sunday 23rd Dec, although with Xmas day included in the following chart, that might throw up a few surprizes :magic: Also, here's a thought. The Mids are normally on a Tuesday and so is Xmas day this year ;)

Christmas Number Two Predictions!
Here's a wild stab in the dark. My Xmas top 5 prediction: 1 X Factor 2 Shaun the sheep 3 GA 4 Souja Boy 5 Lyra For accuracy, it's probably on par with those who said the Spice Girls would bag a 10th #1 this month.

X-Factor Week 6
Just read a very interesting MSN article entitled "Juke Box Fury" and peoples very interesting responses to it, especially about the X Factor.

Leona, Bleeding Love - Sales Predicta
75k But , I don't know what people see in this song. I like Leona, but I have to say, for me the highlight when I watched X Factor last night was Nikki. She was truly outstanding!

Random: Are chart fans mostly male
Konnichiwa! (Hello!/Good afternoon!) I used to be a little obsessive about the singles chart in particular, but now as I don't listen to much new music as these days it began to feel a bit pointless and a waste of time. But now I've discovered Japanese and there's plenty of books and even more web sites I've found something new to distract me and it feels more fulfilling. Anyway, I think in general women tend to be better at multi-tasking and men tend to focus more intensly on one issue. A one track mind, so to speak
