Which would be the #1s of 2006
Wasn't Morrissey #1 in physicals earlier this year?

2006...The year of flop follow ups to No.1 singles?
Yeah, and the reason is, the follow ups didn't sell very well... :D Okay, okay, I know what you're getting at. Actually, maybe coz singles that did become a UK #1 (with a few exceptions) didn't sell in the quantities of yesteryear, so perhaps they're become more vunerable to fluctuations. Perhaps downloads are contributing to this effect. Who knows?

Leona - A Moment Like This
I've never downloaded a song to date, but if I did download music, I think hell would have to freeze over, before I would buy this. I don't like it.

Leona - A Moment Like This
Entering the chart a day after release, was something I was wondering about with the X Factor 3 winning song, months ago.

Can Oasis' Stop The Clocks EP chart in Jan when the rules
So if a "physical single" breaches the new rules for chart eligability, can we assume that any digital sales would still count?

The Best Number 1 of 2000?
I voted for the All Saints "Black Coffee". "Pure Shores" is good, but "Black Coffee" is simply brilliant. There is a reason why "What Makes A Man" is not in the above list. ;)

Record Of The Year 2007
"Crazy" is my fave song from the list, but I think that either "I don't feel like dancin'" or "Patience" are more likely to win.

TOMORROW will be remembered as The Day The Music Died.
Westlife appearing on last weeks X Factor might have helped them. I wouldn't at all be surprised in fact if that clinched the #1 position for them. But this is only conjecture.

Early Sales Figures Sunday 26/11/06
Close, but not as close as Chico #2 and BEP at #3 just 5 copies in it I believe from earlier this year.

Peter Jackson dropped from The Hobbit?!
It's a pity. Jackson is such a genius with J.R.R. Tolkien's work.

Pan's Labyrinth
I was a clip of it on TV last night and I wanna see it.

When did the charts die?
You have a good point agreed. But the era I quoted was prior to the video becoming fully fledged. Video = image, so the power of the image was enhanced, perhaps sacrificing a little the influence of the tune. The sight of a handful of men sitting on stools, gazing into the middle distance whilst singing ballads seems to be a popular one. But I just don't get it??? For me, it's tune first, image second.

When did the charts die?
Also, there are so many other entertainment options these days to what there were 20 or 30 years ago.

When did the charts die?
In my opinion, the best era for pop music was the 20 year period from the start of 1965 through to the end of 1984. I consider the chart was not very exciting from the mid 1990's when suddenly nearly everything seemed to peak the week it was released, but downloads have thankfully added an extra dimention since then. The singles chart is not dead, it's just evolving with modern technology. Also, these days it's not just mainly music specialists who sell records, but supermarkets, which have other considerations to bear in mind.

TOTP Returns
It's very good that it's on Xmas Day. It just wouldn't be the same and it would feel weird tbh if it was missing from the schedules.
-
New Release Schedule - November 27
Christmas Day, I hope they're not releasing or selling anything on Christmas Day! I'd be mortified, if someone expected me to work on Christmas Day. It's different if it's an essential service e.g. A&E
