I ain't got an Ipod so I'm in the dark on such things.

Maybe, they're hoping/expecting people to download it onto their ipods the Xmas. If it had a physical release, I'd expect most sales would be downloads, but with a physical re-release (I'm assuming there's one) this could allow it into the combined chart. Slade are fab
  3. Stool-loving balladeers, not my cup of tea. I no longer watch the X Factor, but, pardon the pun, could that be factored into why Westlife are doing very well this week? I believe they appeared on last Saturday's show.

 Suggest these catagories: Music video Cover song Top ten singles chart week of 2006

Well, before today, the only Album, I'd bought so far this year was The Garden by Zero 7. Went on something of a shopping spree today and got the folowing: The Beatles - Love Enya - Amarantine (with festive second CD) ELO - The Very Best Of PIL - The Greatest Hits, So Far Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The... Oh and a couple of DVD feature Films:- Pirates of the Carribean (Dead Man's Chest) and Stormbreaker Phew!!!
  6. I don't understand the link between being Gay and campness. As a Gay man, I'm not camp, nor overtly macho, I'm just comfortable being me. I am a fan of, for example Julian Clary, who I think we can safely call camp  I can thoroughly recommend his autobiography (by the way). "A Young Man's Passage". So, I have no issues or hang ups about how people express themselves, it's sad when other [third party] people do. Kate Bush, for example - gay audiances can identify with as she is kinda on the outside of the mainstream and doing it her way and yet very successfully. But I voted for Judy Garland. Surprised her daughter wasn't listed as well.
  7. Thanks for that. I've just looked at the mids and it looks like George Michael will be #1 today. But with the glut of other big names releasing this week, I think it unlikely, that George will stay within the top 4 of next weeks chart.
  8. Actually, does anyone know the first week sales of The Beatles 1 Album?
  9. The, drop everything, I'm gonna buy whatever they release as soon as possible brigade, I think would favour least, the Beatles, but I think it'll sell more than the other 3 will between now and Xmas. Okay, okay, I can talk, coz I'm rushing out to buy the Beatles album tommorrow :P Firstly, the easy bit: I think the top 4 in next weeks Album chart will all be new entries. Does night not follow day? The near impossible task is predicting which way around :( Sorry U2, but I think they'll be at #4 I'm gonna be pessimistic and put The Beatles at #3 Westlife, will be close, (but as they say) but no cigar #2 Oasis do have a large dedicated fan base, so Numero Uno for them. Will there be any hype sort of Oasis vs The Beatles this week?
  10. The Sharam song reminds me of another song and it's infuriating coz I can't quite get my head around what that song is. That song having lyrics like "and I just want to say" or something like that.
  11. It's taken the fun out of who's gonna be the Xmas number one for me. I think I've got better odds on winning the Lottery jackpock (if only  ) than the X Factor victor not securing the Xmas number one slot. Such is life

I think Nos 2 to 5 in the Xmas chart of 1985 contained either former #1s or future #1s.
  13. In my opinion it's ET
  14. QUOTE Holiday gave Madonna her first UK Top Ten making no.6 in January and would later Re-enter the UK singles chart in August 1985 due to the Sucess of Into The Groove Madonna's 1st UK No.1 single..Holiday would make no.2.Madonna wasthe ONLY person in UK chart history to hold the no.1 & no.2 Spots Thread By Kelly & Paul Mark End Of Quote. Yes, it was an amazing achievement, when "Into the Groove" was #1 and "Holiday" was #2, and I think "Crazy for you" was still top 20! But, The Beatles (who else :D ) John Lennon and Frankie Goes To Hollywood have all held simultaniously the numbers 1 and 2 positions in the singles chart. I wouldn't be surprised if there are others as well. I also believe Madonna held the record for the most top 5 hit singles (until the Elvis re-issues) within a calendar year. 8 in 1985

I remember once reading a hilarious article about a young kid who when watching Star Trek on TV corrected his Dad when his Dad said "that's Captain Kirk", to which the kid replied, "No it's not, he's Captain Slog." As in "This is Captain's Log. Stardate".... etc, etc, etc.

I agree, looking at this list, there was nothing much there that inspired me. But this is right in the middle of the era of the "One week wonder" which thankfully with downloads these days has largely abaited. I quite liked "Blame it on the Weatherman", but that nosedived having debuted at Numero Uno.

That was a toughie Torn between Baz Luhrmann and Cliff. I plumped for Cliff!
  18. Groceries
  19. My most recent purchase was Watership Down which I got in HMV

King Of The Mountain I think has a certain Wuthering Heights feel to it, only not as good. I agree, Somewhere In Between might have been a better choice of Single, along with Pi and Sunset. I think King Of The Mountain and what might have been a second single, How To Be Invisable kind of reflect on fame and it's setbacks. So maybe more poigniant.
  21. So not a hint of bias or anything from anyone then? ;) I think Kate Bush (Who's the same age) is far more attractive, but then I'm being biased. :P
  22. Well, Boy George is not the only one who's slagging off a pop star
  23. Ta. I'll have a look!
  24. imdb, what's that? I have since looked on google and after typing in "more f**king gondolas" (without the asterixes  ) it appears that it was on a few  "Life of Brian" DVD'S. Can't fathom out why it wasn't just simply included as standard on the DVD.
  25. Thanks for the info, but what you're quoting is the film within the Meaning of Life film. The Crimson Permanent Assurance was integrated into the Meaning of Life as well as being a film short before the Meaning of Life started. That was about Financiers or something? I thought there was another short film. In this case a spoof travelogue prior to the start of "The Life of Brian"? The presenter in it was talking about what to see and do in Venice. Saying you could take a trip on a Gondola... And here you can find more Gondolas, over there even more Gondolas, and here's yet some more "FLICKING" GONDOLAS!!! (or words simular to that). Maybe it was a film short on TV, maybe it was on on Channel 4 or something, immediately prior to showing say The Life of Brian and so maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick and have been labouring under the delusion, it was a part of a Monty Python skit. Then again, maybe it is part of Monty Pythons work?
