Banning songs
I don't know about whether a song being banned (what does "IRO" stand for btw?) would induce me to buy it, it probably wouldn't! These days I no longer normally follow the charts, except say at Xmas, but what it has done tbh is got me to log back on to Buzzjack for the first time in weeks, if only to read the furore this has stirred up and get an idea of this song's charting potential.

Top of the Pops
TOTP of 1977 shown on BBC4 on Xmas Eve was a joy

Why do the Xmas songs start to drop on Xmas Day?
The Christmas celebrations seem to be much more during Advent these days, with far less after the first day of the 12 days of Christmas.

The Christmas #1 Story
Some of those No.1's bring back memories and I think to myself, they don't make 'em like they used to Maybe it's just nostalgia, coz when I've checked out TOTP 1977 on TV, half the songs, I think, "What's this?"

iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 12th August 2012
I'm happy to see both John Lennon and Kate Bush in the top 10 Clearly a lot of Olympic closing ceremony influence in this chart. For me the opening ceremony was much much better, the closing one for me was too much focused on just singing. Loved the performances by both Eric Idle and the Brazilian part. The opening ceremony in parts was brilliant, loved the Underworld track, "And I Will Kiss". Can only wonder how high it would have charted had it been available on i-tunes as an individual download. Would it have been too long for chart qualification. I guess there's a time limit.

Apparently one of the contestants on Mastermind is tonight answering questions about Kate Bush's life and music

The most interesting/weirdest/shocking/etc. chart runs ever
John Lennon's "Just Like Starting Over" had a spectacular chart run, but very sadly for a tragic reason. I think part of its chart run was: 8-13-21-1-2

iTunes Chart: December 2011 (2)
I like some of the songs on the i-tunes "genera" charts: At #1 on the Comedy chart is "Swearytale of New York" :D And at #2 on the Children's Music chart is "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" :D

Christmas no1 single odds
In a parallel universe, I could imagine "Wherever You Are" being sung by either the X Factor Finalists or being X Factor Winners song

New Kate Bush album 21st Nov
I think Moments of Pleasure wouldn't sound out of place if it was on this album.

How much will Military Wives "Wherever You Are" sell?
I overheard someone ask in a store today if they have the single, so maybe a #1 is on the cards. Here's hoping.

Christmas no1 single odds
For me personally, I find the wonder of what Xmas songs will make the top 40 this year and who will have to biggest hit, more fun than who will be the Xmas number 1, because with that I feel a little bit psychic, tho I hope I'm not.

New Kate Bush album 21st Nov
If you happen to predominantly listen to chart music, then I guess Kate Bush might sound a little bit quirky and unusual. Discovering a radio 3 program called Late Junction has been an education. It plays tons of quirky and unusual music. Should I compare Olaf Arnalds to Kate Bush, because she is a female artiste with intersting tunes? Surrender and Crazy Car are great songs. My ipod now contains loads of music that I think makes Kate Bush sound mainstream by comparison, oh and a lot of foreign language songs too that have divine tunes, like Herzan by Soap Kills. I've never understood the apparent animosity regarding Tori, but I can say that my Dad didn't like the back cover to Little Earthquakes :o

New Kate Bush album 21st Nov
A week ago, I felt 3 songs were brill, one was fine and 3 were poor, one of which is Misty. Funny, I'm now starting to think this is in fact the stand-out track. Anyone else find that, that sometimes a song which doesn't have instant appeal can end up sounding better in the long run than the songs that do? Still not overwhelmed by Lake Tahoe and Among Angels though :)

New Kate Bush album 21st Nov
Shame it looks like it mightn't chart as high as I envisaged. Hmm, maybe it should have been released on a quieter week, like in the middle of August, lol. Joking apart, when I went into a store on Monday, I didn't find it under the promotional new releases section. Anyway, does chart position really matter? Most of the music I buy these days I suspect never sees the chart.

If there are any comparisons to be made, I see Aerial as its sister album.

I really like Snowflake, Wild Man and the title track. Don't mind the Elton John song, but not too keen on the other 3 tracks, maybe they're growers.

X Factor 2011 || Live Shows - Week 6
Having heard about the recent events on the X Factor, I thought I'd browse these pages out of idle curiosity. I'm not that curious to actually go and watch the show. Haven't done so for a couple of years. Why do I feel upbeat about that???

New Kate Bush album 21st Nov
Wild Man, only in at #73 ! Now I know why I don't follow the charts anymore. I've moved on to chillout and ambient music, like what's played on Radio 3's Late Junction and World On 3 programs.

For me, from the Sensual World onwards, the lead singles have been somehow a little disappointing, but not so with Wildman, it's great!

Kate Bush - 'Director's Cut'
I've generally found it quite difficult to appriciate a new take on anything that's been a "classic", but I do prefer the new vocal version of Wuthering Heights over the original. The continued singing at the songs end works for me. It's my fave composition of hers and I was familiar with the original version first, which I think is still fab btw. As for Deeper Understanding, I much prefer the original, although the new version's maybe growing on me. However, I picked up a copy of DC today, but then decided to put it back, and I'm undecided yet as to whether I want to buy it. Also undecided whether to buy The Way Back on DVD, having found The Long Walk book hard to put down when I read it a few years ago, but I'm sidetracking, lol.

whats your favourite xmas song of all time
My fave is Greg Lake's I believe in Father Christmas. Of the more recent stuff, I was surprised Status Quo and George Michael didn't have top 10 hits with their festive songs.
