  1. Only heard about this on Wednesday. I've got the box set, so I went to look to download Free As A Bird and Real Love, 2 songs not found in the box set, to find them also not available for download. Shame.
  2. Maybe I'm shallow, but when I first saw on the news about Simon Cowell organising a charity record, my instant thought was, ITMA. Charity records are a nice idea though. There are other ways to donate, which goes without saying. If someone like Bob Geldof was doing a charity single, I'd have probably paid more attention to the news article. I can't ever imagine being in their situation, of finding my home demolished and ending up on the street, that's scary!
  3. Who gives a ... about cut of dates. :P Really, I think it should be sales from New Years Day to New Years Eve.
  4. I just wish it was Bohemian Rhapsody by the Muppets was in with a shot for the Xmas No.1, but hey! :D

I tape the show and watch it in my own time. Fast forwarding, let me see now: The Ads The start The re-caps The what's happened this week bits The phone this number bits The, well infact everything bar the singing (which I find myself fast forwarding half the time :D ) and the Judges comments. And that's just the Saturday night. Sunday, I just tape the last half hour for the results bit.
  6. For me, 2 things that are good. Firstly, thanks to downloads, lots of Christmas songs now annualy "invade" the charts. This is the only time of year, I bother with the charts these days. Secondly, Peter Kay's #1, so that's good! This is also the first year, when I haven't highlighted Christmas TOTP in the TV double issue listings. The X Factors dominance, is in part for my waining interest in the charts, oh and me now probably being a bit past it  and December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas)
  7. I'm just gonna enjoy Christmas and not worry about who's gonna be the Christmas number one.
  8. That's why I tape the show and have only just watched it, took about 40 minutes to go through today. I had noticed, there was only one occasion when a performance wasn't then followed by an ad break. Actually, you suddenly realise, just how strong and amazing Freddie's voice really was, when you then compare it to the X Factor performances. Personally, I think only Joe & Stacey did the songs justice. And I am being unbiased, coz tbh Joe hasn't been one I've rooted for! Oh, I'll be watching Ray Mears tonight and doing the usual Sunday night thing, which is just to tape the second half of the X Factor.
  9. I think it would be more interesting if the studio audience, instead of the judges voted on the 2 acts. I think the one thing that would give Simon cause for concern, is if people stopped voting, rather than who they vote for.
  10. I've just watched the show and was surprised to hear backing singers on the Rock DJ performance. I don't think that's fair, as surely it's the performers vocal talents that are up for scrutiny, especially in the run off.

  13. I've just done an I-Tunes serch on "merry christmas" and I've found amongst other things "Wombling Merry Christmas" etc... I'm not surprised in a big dip in post Christmas Day christmassy downloads, just a little bemused and disappointed  I imagine nearly everyone still has christmas trees and decorations up! It looks like physicals have generally held up better in the past, after the 25th. Is it just a modern phenomena or is it just something about downloads that lends to a steeper drop after christmas day I wonder?
  14. Can a caucasian man play Othello? I'm not fussed about ethenicity of the actor (I can think of one or two actresses even) who I think would make a good Doctor Who? Just as long as they feel right for the part, a certain je ne se quoi. Btw, I noticed that the projection which showed the all the Doctors, didn't show Peter Cushing

Rab C Nesbitt was what a comedy should be, laugh out loud, funny!!!
  16. Scissor Sisters, erm trying to off the top of my head to remember their #1 hit and the follow up smaller hit, but guess I've had too much Turkey and Sherry right now to know or care - lol. Merry Christmas p.s. Wish I saw them live at Trafalger Square that time!
  17. "How did it flop so badly?", could be said about countless decent tunes I'm sure. As far as I'm concerned, Zero 7 for example, should have been huge by now.
  18. I thought JLS's version of Hallelujah was better than Alexandra's. However, I thought that overall, she was the best performer on the night.
  19. Oh, let me see now... X Factor 6 ???

  22. Well, I'm disappointed that it looks very much like the X Factor will be the Christmas Number One, once again. But ho hum, I have to be honest and say I think it's a nice tune this year. I'm gonna still enjoy myself :jump: this Christmas AND spare a thought for others in less furtunate circumstances than me  I'll listen, when the mood takes me to tunes which I like, irrespective of whether or not they have ever been commercially popular :smoke:
  23. Geraldine's apparently on the Royal Variety Performance show on Wednesday
  24. I've looked through the TV Guide and firstly, I believe it's the original show that's repeated this Sunday 14th, on Channel 4 at 8pm  and the follow up is on Friday 19th on Channel 4 at 9pm :cheer:
  25. I've leafed through the Radio Times double issue and I havent noticed an additional programme for the chart of 2008 on R1. I'm assuming, that they'll have it more or less in place of the weekly chart on Dec 28th, like they did last year. Though Sunday 4th Jan is a possibility I suppose. Hope I'm wrong.
