I've got a feeling she won't win anything. She hasn't got much chance winning Leading Performer as if she even makes the shortlist the other contenders will have their storylines rammed down throats by the time voting closes while her storyline has finished. As the public don't get a say on Best Villan, It might go to Gray as he is a more conventional villan.

Thursday more than made up for the 3 trial days which were pretty disappointing apart from the end scene on Tuesday. It should have ended on Thursday although we would have missed out on the end scene on Friday.
  3. I remember reading something like this before. I think it may have been this. https://www.smoothradio.com/news/music/most...ify-uk-by-year/

There were no female No1's between Livin' Joy in May 1995 and Gina G in May 1996.
  10. Moby's Play was saved by the later singles off the album.
  11. Living In A Box - Living In A Box from the album Living In A Box
  12. Faith No More could have done that as they released a song called Epic but unfortunately it wasn't on the Epic Label.
  13. I think David Gray's White Ladder came out in 1999 but started to sell more after Babylon came out in 2000. Dido's No Angel also came out before Eminem's Stan which then made the album a big hit.

Eurythmics - Love Is A Stranger No54 followed by Sweet Dreams No2 No Doubt - Just A Girl No38 followed by Don't Speak No1 Both of those flops made the top ten when re-released after the hit. Also the big 3 long running No1's of the 90s artists had relative flops before Bryan Adams - Victim Of Love No68 (1987) - I Do It For You No1(1991) Wet Wet Wet - Cold Cold Heart No23 - Love Is All Around No1(Both from 1994 but not same album) Whitney Houston - I Belong To You No54(1991) - I Will Always Love You No1 (1992)

In the #1 followed by flop topic a few people thought it would be intresting to know if it happened the other way round so I have started this topic to find out if it has (They don't have to be from the same album). A few I can think of are Coolio - I Remember made No73 in 1994 then Gangsta's Paradise No1 in 1995. Enrique Iglesias - Rhythm Divine No45 in 1999 then Hero No1 in 2002.
  16. Living In A Box- Living In A Box Oh Well - Oh Well and also Rolling Stones did a cover of Bob Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone.
  17. Watching a programme about Live Aid the other week it made me think had downloads been the main format in 1985 the following weeks chart would probably have seen lots of the acts have huge re-entries of the songs performed and the chart would have been very different to the chart of that week based on mainly 7"singles. Are there any other events that could have made a bigger impact on the charts if downloads were around or had been more popular at the time?

Doop followed up thier No1 Doop with Huckleberry Jam which reached No95.

  20. The accuracy seems to be getting worse but I wonder if they have changed the rules for the Top 10 slightly as the new songs don't seem to be entering at No1 anymore so maybe they are including sales from a longer period than the last 24 hours for the top 10.
  21. They are always looking into new things to include in the singles chart but I wonder how many people don't bother with singles because of albums. There are a lot of acts who have good singles but people purchase the album so the single charts poorly but the album does well. You also see albums shoot back up the chart when a new single is out but again this has no affect on the singles chart so maybe some sort of album data should be included first before they include streaming data.
  22. Prodigy had 8 singles in the top 75 on 14 Apr 1996. Manic Street Preachers had 6 singles between 41-55 on 7 Sep 1997. George Michael featured on 5 top 40 singles in Dec 1985. (2 with Wham, 2 with Elton John and Band Aid).
  23. If The Big Top 40 has songs in the top ten which won't chart until the following week in the official chart it will then make the official chart look a week behind so I wonder if there will be some changes made to the official chart soon. The X Factor winner will enter at No1 on The Big Top 40 a week ahead of Radio 1.

I think the reason songs started returning to number one again from the nineties is that was when songs started to enter at No1 more often so it became possible to knock off a single with pretty much sales from a fanbase but not possible to stay there for 2 weeks.
  25. Prince had 3 albums in the top ten in 1993.
