  8. Apart from the Ultimate Greatest Hits, i don't think they're recording new material, it's just the documentary and then a one-off gig, any more depends on how that does. I can see a tour being successful, as they've still got a following, but their days of chart success aren't going to be like it used to be...maybe one more minor hit.

    Steps are BACK!

by Dean Piper, Sunday Mirror 18/09/2011

    http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/sep2011/7/8/image-2-for-dean-piper-18-09-11-gallery-240581255.jpg

It’s with great pleasure that I bring you the newly reformed pop megastars… Steps!

I was the first journalist to get my mitts on the band recently when the fivesome – who had huge hits between 1997 and 2001 with 5,6,7,8, One For Sorrow, Tragedy and Deeper Shade Of Blue – met up for publicity photos to promote their new TV show.

And I’m pleased to report Claire Richards, Ian “H” Watkins, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee feel extremely positive about the band’s future.

After years of fall-outs they’re doing a new Sky Living show where we watch the kiss-and-make-up chats in a four-part series.

Lisa told me: “It’s actually not weird at all being in the same room. It’s funny. We spent five years together and we’re like family.

“Me, Lee and Faye remained friends because we felt betrayed by the other two when they left – you see that in the show. I didn’t speak to H and Claire for two years.”

Lee adds: “We want to celebrate 10 years since we split up. Doing the show has been weird and there have been a load of home truths – I didn’t speak to H for six years.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to knock him out or become best friends again when we met. And we’ve become really close now.”

Claire said she’s not sure where the future will take them but I hear there are definitely plans for a nationwide arena tour. “I’m scared about it all but it’s exciting,” she said.

“This could be the start of it all again.

“A few years ago it was an ‘over my dead body’ situation with Steps but now I’m happy. We’ve all grown up a lot.

“I’m slightly scared about the dance moves, though. H remembers everything but I’m clueless. And there will definitely not be any crop tops.” Sorry, peeps!

H told me: “I’d only just moved on from Steps and I never thought I’d be going back. I would only entertain Steps being back in my life if it went well. For now it is. I’m loving having the guys back in my life.”

But Faye seems wary, saying: “If people want us back then it could be something more. It’s been beautiful and wonderful to be in the same room but I’m not sure what the future will hold.”

STEPS Reunion starts on Sky Living HD on September 28 at 9pm. Their Ultimate Collection CD is out on October 10.

    Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts

    (Thanks to Gavin Ryan)

    Singles

Six weeks atop the ARIA Singles chart for Gotye and Kimbra's "Somebody That I Used to Know", making it now the longest running No.1 for an Australian act this century, as the last time a local act spent this long (or longer) at the top of our charts was Savage Garden's "Truly, Madly, Deeply" for eight straight weeks starting in early April 1997.

But Gotye's achievement is not the only chart feat this week, as the first ever song to exclusively spend eight weeks at No.2 and go no higher (as opposed to Taylor Swift's "Love Story" which spent eleven weeks at No.2, but also two weeks at No.1). "Moves like Jagger" for Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera haven’t moved for the past eight weeks from the No.2 position, and if it doesn't go to No.1 it has now set the record for the most weeks at No.2 during the ARIA period (April 1983 to 2011). There is only one song in the 70+ years of the Australian charts that has spent eight weeks at No.2, Helen Reddy's "I Don't Know How to Love Him" back in 1971 (mentioned last week).

It's a third accumulated week at No.3 for Jason DeRulo's "It Girl", and jumping up two places to No.4 are Cobra Starship with "You Make Me Feel…", which now surpasses their previous best effort for "Good Girls Go Bad" which peaked at No.5. And up seven places to No.5 is Jessie J's now third Top 10 hit, "Domino", which was last weeks highest new entry at No.12.

Rihanna again climbs another single place, this time up to No.6 with her track "Cheers (Drink to that)". Falling back two places to No.7 is David Guetta and Sia with "Titanium", whilist David's teaming with Usher on "Without You" holds at No.10 for a second week. Sandwiched in between those two Guetta tracks are a couple of Adele's, with her former No.1 "Someone Like You" dropping down four places to No.8, and spending it's nineteenth week inside the Top 10 at No.9 is "Rolling in the Deep", now the second longest running non-No.1 Top 10 entry.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Hot Chelle Rae jumps up four places to a new peak of No.12 after spending two weeks at No.16 with their track "Tonight Tonight". Adele again jumps up with "Set Fire to the Rain", this week it leaps nine places to No.17. Blasting up twenty-four places to No.21 is the new track for Gym Class Heroes, "Stereo Hearts", and soaring up fifteen spots to No.23 is Nicki Minaj and Rihanna with "Fly".

Calvin Harris loses his Top 10 placing for "Bounce" this week (down to No.11), but his new track "Feel So Close" is up four places to a new peak of No.24. Foster the People jump on both the albums and singles chart, with "Pumped Up Kicks" up five places to No.28 this week, and Beyonce's "Love on Top" is up eight places to No.32 from last weeks debut of No.40. She also re-enters at No.88 with "Halo", which was used during X Factor this past week.

The Wanted were in the country last week for a promo visit, and their track "Glad You Came" benefits by jumping ten places to No.36, and entering the Top 50 this week are Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You", up seven places to No.45, and after originally charting back in March 2009 (HP then was #83, peaked in Feb 2010 at No.69), Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days are Over" finally cracks the Top 50 at No.47 this week (up thirteen places).

Kelly Clarkson scores the highest new entry of the week with her new single "Mr. Know it All", which debuts at No.25, and is the first taste of her late October due fifth album "Stronger". This is Kelly's first new material since we last saw her back in July 2009 with "Already Gone" (HP-12), and this new song becomes her fourteenth chart entry here in Australia, all of them having achieved Top 40 status.

Australian DJ Havana Brown debuts at No.38 with her second chart entry "Get it", whilst her first single "We Run the Night" is still charting at No.71, having peaked at No.5 back in June. A few places lower at No.42 is the second single to be lifted off Coldplay's next album, the song it entitled "Paradise", and is the follow-up to the June, No.14 single "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall", which re-enters at No.99 this week. They are also back in at No.74 with their song "Fix You".

Lil' Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" became his first Top 10 album here in Australia last week, but the deluxe edition has the bonus track "Mirror", which features guest vocalist Bruno Mars (plus a lyrical nod to MJ's 'Man in the Mirror'). His new album is at No.20 this week, and the track "Mirror" debuts at No.49, whilst his other charting single from the album "How to Love" is down ten places to No.68.

LOWER 50: DEV looks like she's gonna score her first solo Top 50 entry soon, as her single "In the Dark" jumps up thirteen places to No.51 this week. Nero take their second chart entry "Promises" up twenty-three places to No.58, and thanks to it re-entering higher, Snow Patrol's "Called Out in the Dark" scores a new peak at No.79.

Pete Murray's "Blue Sky Blue" holds at No.6 this week, but the second single from the album "Free" debuts at No.55, whilst previous single “Always a Winner” (HP-38) is at No.78. Also scoring a second single from a current album is Example, who debuts at No.66 with "Stay Awake", whilst his album scores a Top 20 debut this week.

Twenty year-old English singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran enters at No.81 with his debut single entitled "The A Team" (nothing to do with the show from the 80's). This song peaked in the Top 5 in England, Ireland and Scotland, and his next single is currently Top 10 there at the moment; "You Need Me, I Don't Need You".

Cold Chisel release a new best of collection on October 14th entitled "All For You: The Best of Cold Chisel". The title track from that album debuts at No.84 this week, and becomes their first NEW material to chart since 1999’s “Way Down” (HP-63, March 1999).

    Albums

The last act to spend eighteen weeks at No.1 was Mariah Carey back in 1994 with her "Music Box" album. Every couple of years since then, a female act has bounced back and forth at No.1 with a huge selling album. This week Adele's "21" racks up its eighteenth non-consecutive week at the top, whilst her debut album "19" is back up one place to No.7. The only other album to achieve eighteen weeks at No.1 was “Silk Degrees” by Boz Scaggs (1977). Below is a list of long-running No.1 albums for female acts...

    YEAR / Title / Artist / (Weeks at No.1)

    1994 – Music Box – Mariah Carey (18 weeks)

1995 – Colour of Love – Celine Dion (8 weeks)

1996 – Jagged Little Pill – Alanis Morissette (10 weeks)

1999 – Come on Over – Shania Twain (20 weeks)

    2001 – No Angel – Dido (8 weeks)

2003 – Come Away With Me – Norah Jones (9 weeks)

    2003 – Innocent Eyes – Delta Goodrem (29 weeks)

2004/5 – The Sound of White – Missy Higgins (8 weeks)

    2011 – 21 – Adele (18 weeks and counting)

Last weeks Top 6 all stay within the Top 6, albeit three of them move only slightly. Gotye's "Making Mirrors" holds at No.2, but David Guetta scores his highest ever peak on the ARIA Albums chart ("One Love" peaked at No.4), as "Nothing But the Beat" climbs a place to No.3. Also up to a new peak is Kimbra, whose album "Vows" scored the highest new entry last week, and is up a place to No.4 this week, which pushes the Red Hot Chili Peppers latest "I'm with You" down two places to No.5, and Pete Murray's "Blue Sky Blue" holds at No.6 for a second week.

Icehouse drop a place to No.8 with their greatest hits collection "White Heat: 30 Hits", and returning to the Top 10 at No.10 is LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking". Debuting in-between those two at No.9 is British indie-rock band The Kooks with their third album "Junk of the Heart". Their second album "Konk" debuted and peaked at No.8 in April 2008, whilst their first album "Inside In / Inside Out made it to No.84 in October 2009, having originally charted back in July 2006 at No.87 and June 2008 at No.96.

Also debuting with a third album is Laura Marling, who enters at No.12 with "A Creature I Don't Know", not quite beating the No.7 peak her second album "I Speak Because I Can" achieved back in April 2010, and it re-enters at No.90 this week, whilst her first album "Alas, I Cannt Swim" made it to No.98 in August 2008, having initially charted at No.100 in March of 2008.

Another third album, (but first to chart here) enters at No.14, British rapper Example, and his new set "Playing in the Shadows", which debuted at No.1 in his home country this past week. Two singles have charted here so far from the album, "Changed the Way You Kiss Me" (HP-16, TW-30) and "Stay Awake" (debuting at No.66).

The eleventh album for American progressive rock band Dream Theater debuts at No.17 entitled "A Dramatic Turn of Events". Their 2009 album "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" placed first week at No.16, album nine was called “Systematic Chaos” (HP-23, June 2007) and their first chart appearance here was album eight; “Octavarium” (HP-81, June 2005).

The debut album for American indie rock band GroupLove enters at No.21 entitled" Never Trust a Happy Song". And the first album for Brisbane's Ball Park Music debuts at No.36 entitled "Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs". The first chart entry in Australia for US metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada is their fourth album, which debuts at No.44 entitled "Dead Throne".

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Outside of the Top 10 new peaks, the only other new peaking album is Nicole Scherzinger's "Killer Love", which climbs a couple of places to No.26. Foster the People climb seventeen places to No.28 with their former No.9 album "Torches", and helped by a third Top 10 single, Jessie J's "Who You Are" album is up nine places to No.31. With tickets to his shows selling out around the country, Eminem's "Recovery" album is up ten places to No.37 this week.

Lower 50: Ry Cooder’s fifteenth solo album (as opposed to his many collaboration albums) “Pull Up Some Dust and Sit Down” debuts at No.57. His last album chart appearance here was with his 12th album “Chavez Ravine” (HP-68, August 2005). Neil Finn’s new project is a group with his adult kids entitled Pajama Club, and their self-titled album enters at No.61. Debuting at No.72 is Mantra with the album “Speaking Volumes”, and making his ARIA Albums chart debut with his sixth album is violinist David Garrett, entering at No.78 with “Rock Symphonies”.

  17. That's awesome, you never know what's out there.

If you're interested in keeping an eye out for missing tv/film stuff, google the 'missing episodes forum'.

Some knowledgable on there dedicated to finding lost stuff, they've had good finds in the past just like this one.

If you know anyone who might have lost stuff particularly from the 60s and 70s let them know. You never know what

is lurking in lofts going unchecked.

    Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts

    (Thanks to Gavin Ryan)

    Singles

Gotye and Kimbra hold for a fifth week at No.1 with his track "Somebody That I Used to Know", which is now the longest running No.1 by a local act this decade, and the last time we’ve saw a local act spend this long at the top was Gabriella Cilmi with “Sweet About Me”, which accumulated five weeks at the top in April, May and June of 2008. Plus guest vocalist Kimbra debuts at the other end of the Top 100 with her first chart entry "Good Intent" at No.98, and also scores a Top 10 debut with her first album.

Joining five other songs that have been kept at No.2 for seven weeks is "Moves like Jagger" for Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera, and this hasn't happened for over ten years, as from mid June 2001, Nikki Webster's "Strawberry Kisses" spent seven broken weeks ar No.2. During the ARIA Chart period (1983 to 2011), there has been five such tracks achieve this feat, but outside of the ARIA chart period, there is one song that has held this spot longer, 1971’s “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” by Helen Reddy stayed at No.2 for eight straight weeks from the end of July 1971 through until mid-September. The other four songs to have spent seven weeks at No.2 are…

Oct-88 – A Groovy Kind of Love – Phil Collins

Oct-89 – We Didn’t Start the Fire – Billy Joel

    Oct-94 – Always – Bon Jovi

Feb-99 – That Don’t impress me Much – Shania Twain

In the Top 5, only two songs move, with No.3 and No.4 swapping places (which they also did last week), with Jason DeRulo's "It Girl" moving back up to No.3 for a second week, and Adele's "Someone Like You" dropping back down to No.4. Although it is good news for Adele, as her track "Rolling in the Deep" climbs back into the Top 10 at No.9, helped by lots of X-Factor performances of the song this past week, giving the track now eighteen accumulated weeks inside the Top 10, which ties it for equal second place on the list of ‘Most Weeks in the Top 10 without hitting No.1’. She now shares the eighteen honors with Shania Twain’s “From This Moment On”. The equal longest run in the Top 10 without making it to No.1 is tied with “Breathe” by The Prodigy (96/97) and “November Rain” (1992) for Guns N’ Roses, both spent twenty-four weeks in the top, and both songs are the overall leaders on the list of ‘Most Weeks in Top 10’.

Holding at No.5 for a second week is David Guetta and Sia on "Titanium", but David scores a second Top 10 hit this week, as last weeks highest new entry "Without You" featuring Usher leaps up fifteen places to No.10, giving David his tenth Top 10 hit and Usher his thirteenth. Also jumping up into the Top 10 this week is Cobra Starship with "You Make Me Feel...” up nine places to give them their second Top 10 hit. Their first Top 10 entry here was exactly two years ago, "Good Girls Go Bad" (HP-5, peaked Sept 2009). Like three and four above, No.7 and No.8 also swap places, with Rihanna's "Cheers (Drink to that)" moving up one place to a new peak of No.7, and Calvin Harris and Kelis on "Bounce" is down to No.8.

Jessie J has so far this year hit the Top 10 with her first two singles "Price Tag" (HP-2, TW-56) and "Nobody's Perfect" (HP-9, TW-68), and now it looks like she will do so again soon, as her new single "Domino" scores the highest new entry of the week at No.12. All three tracks are from her album "Who You Are", which rises back up the albums chart to No.40 this week.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Hot Chelle Rae spends a second week at their peak of No.16 with "Tonight Tonight", and also holding peak-place is Alexandra Stan and her song "Mr. Saxobeat" at No.24. Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" leaps up fourteen places to No.26, and another of last weeks debuts, Calvin Harris' "Feel So Close", is up eight places to No.28.

Foster the People climb up five places to No.33 with their track "Pumped Up Kicks", and another Guetta track, "Turn Me On" featuring Nicki Minaj is up two places to a new peak of No.35, whilst David's teaming with Akon on "Crank it Up", is up thirty-nine places to No.49 this week. Ms. Minaj also soars in the Top 50, up forty places to No.38 with her new single "Fly" featuring Rihanna.

The third single from Beyonce’s "4" album (TW-20) is entitled "Love on Top", and it debuts at No.40 this week, helped no doubt by her performance of the track at the MTV VMA's a couple of weeks ago, which was also the time that she announced her pregnancy on stage. The albums two previous singles are still within the Top 100, first track "Run the World (Girls)" (HP-10, TW-100) and then follow-up "Best Thing I Never Had" (HP-17, TW-32).

The Gym Class Heroes have been on a break for the past couple of years doing side projects, but they have come back together for their fifth album "The Paper Chronicles 2" which is due at the end of October. The first single from that album debuts at No.45, "Stereo Hearts", featuring Adam Levine; lead singer from Maroon 5. The song has reached the Top 10 in the U.S., The Netherlands and New Zealand so far.

Lower 50: Whilst the new Florence + The Machine track falls this week, their two re-entries from last week zoom up the charts, with "You've Got the Love" up forty-one places to No.52, and scoring a new peak in the process is "Dog Days Are Over", which is up thirty-three places to No.60 (former peak was #81 in October 2010). Gavin DeGraw climbs two places to No.52 with his new track "Not Over You", and Lil' Wayne jumps thirteen places to No.58 with his song "How to Love". Tracy Chapman re-enters the charts with her first two singles, her first hit "Fast Car" (HP-4, July 1988) is back in at No.88, whilst her second single "Talkin' 'bout a Revolution" is back in at No.66, it's highest peak on ARIA (AMR #57, no ARIA chart info), and it’s thanks to X-Factor for both songs, but also Revolution has been used in part in the new Anne Hathaway film “One Day” which opened recently. Also re-entering, and helped by a great X-Factor performance, is Usher's "U Got it Bad", which is back in at No.55, having peaked at No.3 in late February of 2002.

Singer Devin Star Tailes is better known as DEV, and she scores her second solo and fourth chart appearance by debuting at No.64 with "In the Dark", the second single from late September due debut album "The Night the Sun Came Up". Her other solo appearance was the No.66 song "Bass Down Low" (HP-66, March 2011), whilst she has also featured on the tracks "LIke a G6" (HP-2 Nov 2010) with Far East Movement, and "Backseat" for New Boyz (HP-89 April 2011).

UK drum-and-bass duo Nero see their first chart entry here "Guilt" (HP-62) drop out from No.100, but they enter at No.81 with their second entry "Promises", a former UK No.1 single, and both are taken from their current album "Welcome Reality" which is at No.23 this week.

Vocalist, percussionist and synth-wizard Joe Goddard from the band Hot Chip debuts at No.94 with his first solo entry to the ARIA Charts, "Gabriel", featuring vocals from Valentina. Also scoring their first solo chart entry here is New Zealand born (now Melbourne based) singer Kimbra, who enters at No.98 with the track "Good Intent" from her debut album "Vows", which lands inside the ARIA Top 10 on the Albums chart this week. Wedged in between those two new entries at No.96 is another, David Guetta debut, this one featuring Chris Brown and Lil' Wayne on the track "I Can Only Imagine", making it nine singles from his new album, and it's only been out for two weeks.

    Albums

Adele's "21" is now at No.1 for a seventeenth week, and has achieved 7xPlatinum (that's sales of almost half-a-million units here in Australia). The only albums to have racked up this many weeks (and no more) in the past were two albums from the 1960’s, Herb Alpert’s “Going Places” which started its run in April 1967, and The Seekers “Greatest Hits” which stayed for seventeen weeks from late July in 1968. Adele also keeps a place in the Top 10 with her first album "19", which is only down a place to No.8.

Three weeks ago, Gotye leapt in at No.1 with his "Making Mirrors" album, and fell to No.3 last week, but this week he climbs back up a place to No.2, swapping with last weeks debut of No.2 for Red Hot Chili Peppers and "I'm With You", whilst last weeks No.4 entry stays stable, David Guetta's "Nothing But the Beat", whilst Icehouse drop down two places to No.7 with their latest and greatest "White Heat: 30 Hits".

New Zealand born and now Australian based female singer Kimbra Johnson, known more simply as Kimbra scores the highest new entry of the week by debuting at No.5 with her first album "Vows". Debuting right behind her at No.6 with his fifth album is Pete Murray and "Blue Sky Blue". This is his lowest entry since his second album "Feeler" debuted at No.43 at the end of July in 2003, and took thirty-six weeks to reach No.1 in April of 2004. His next two following albums both debuted at No.1, "See the Sun" (Oct 2005) and "Summer at Eureka" (June 2008).

The ninth album for US rapper Lil' Wayne is entitled "Tha Carter IV", and it debuts at No.9 this week instantly becoming his highest charting album here, and now his first Top 10 entry. Lead single from the album here is "How to Love" which is up to No.58 this week, and the previous best effort he's made on the albums chart was his sixth album "Tha Carter III" which reached No.47 in June 2008. He has also charted with seventh and eighth albums, “Rebirth” (HP-51, Feb 2010) and “I Am Not a Human Being” (HP-60, Oct 2010).

The Beatles "1" album re-enters at No.10 this week, thanks to it now being available as a digital download, and it was late November in 2000 that it started its nine weeks at No.1, and has accumulated 118 weeks in the Top 100, it’s last entry was back in September 2009.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Celtic Thunder last week debuted at No.1 with their new DVD "It's Entertainment!” whilst the parent album “That’s Entertainment” this week climbs two places to a new peak of No.33. Re-entering at No.35 is "The Ultimate Collection" for Sade, which made it to No.37 back in May for Mother's Day, now it claims a higher placing thanks to Fathers Day last weekend. And with Eminem's December concert recently announced, his current album "Recovery" recovers seventeen places to be back up at No.47 this week.

Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger enters at No.28 with her debut album "Killer Love". Two singles so far have been on the charts here in Australia; "Don't Hold Your Breath" (HP-17, TW-84) and "Right There" (HP-8, TW-25), whilst the next single off the album is entitled "Wet".

Lower 50: New York punk-dance band The Rapture debut at No.53 with their fourth album "In the Grace of Your Love". Their previous chart entry here was their third album “Pieces of the Peoples We Love” (HP-67, Sept 2006). And a recently announced Australia tour in February 2012 by Roxette has helped them to enter at No.71 with the collection of their songs "Hits".
