    By Greg Ptolomey

    Source: digitalspy

Legendary soul singer Solomon Burke has died in a Dutch airport at the age of 70.

Dutch national broadcaster NOS reported that he died early on Sunday while still on the plane that took him from Los Angeles to The Netherlands ahead of a show scheduled for Tuesday.

Early indications point towards a heart attack as the cause of death.

The Philadelphia-born 'King of Rock 'n' Soul' was famed in recent years for performing while sitting on a gold-coloured throne.

During a 55-year career, he wrote such hits as 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love' and 'Cry to Me'. He was also a Grammy award winner and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Burke is said to be survived by 21 children, 90 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

    Singles

Rihanna stays at No.1 for a third week as the “Only Girl (in the World)” (DL: 1 hold) track gives her an accumulated No.1 total of 29 weeks, putting her at a clear position of No.17 in the list of acts with ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1 1940-2010’, now moving ahead of The Black Eyed Peas and Olivia Newton-John who each have 28 weeks at the top, she now has Kylie (31 weeks) and Madonna (36 weeks) in her sights.

Currently No.1 in New Zealand, America, Canada, Ireland and England is the new No.2 single in this country, Bruno Mars and “Just the Way You Are” (DL: 2 hold), which moves up a place to its new peak, which pushes “Dynamite” (DL: 3 hold) by Taio Cruz down to No.3. Two more songs climb up to new peaks, Mike Posner halves his last week position by climbing from No.8 to No.4 with “Cooler Than Me” (DL: 6 to 4), and also climbing four places is Cee-Lo Green with “F.U.” (DL: 9 hold, clean 41 to 38), up to No.5 this week.

After jumping into the Top 10 last week at No.5, B.o.B. and Rivers Cuomo fall back one place to No.6 with “Magic” (DL: 4 to 5). Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and Eminem with Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie” (DL: 8 to 12) both stay still at No.7 and No.10 this week. And in-between those two comes a new peak for Nelly’s “Just a Dream” (DL: 11 to 7), back into the Top 10 at No.8 (up from #13) and scoring a new peak in the process. And dropping down three places to No.9 are Usher and Pitbull with “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” (DL: 7 to 8, Phys: 12 to 21).

NEW PEAKS: Six weeks ago, Birds of Tokyo were knocking on the Top 10 door by taking “Plans” (DL: 12 to 10) to No.11, only to have it drop to No.17 the following week, and now this week again the track climbs back up to re-peak at No.11. Zoe Badwi has been making jumps ever week her song “Freefallin” (DL: 20 to 16) has been in the charts, and this week is no exception, as the track is up seven places to No.16, and right behind her at No.17 is Good Charlotte’s “Like its Her Birthday” (DL: 24 to 17), doing a turn-around and climbing back up nine places this week. Another track re-peaking is Little Red’s “Rock it” (DL: 39 to 22), which also scores the biggest climbing track within the Top 50 by leaping back up seventeen places to No.19.

Two tracks back-to-back that jump thirteen places are “And Then We Dance” (DL: 43 to 32) by Justice Crew, up to No.26, and possibly due to their national tour commencing this week, plus the fact it was used on Glee, Paramore’s “The Only Exception” (DL 40 to 25) is back up the charts to No.27. Scarlett Belle climbs seven places to a new peak of No.30 with their second single “Freak Tonight” (DL: 37 to 26). The Wombats show their first upward chart movement since debuting five weeks ago, “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)” (DL: 42 to 31) is up eight places to No.33. Adam Lambert scores his third Top 50 entry, as the lead track from his “For Your Entertainment” album surges up twenty places to No.49.

GLEE REPORT: With last weeks three big surging tracks from the gang all dropping massively this week, its tracks from the Britney episode that move up the charts this week. “Toxic” (DL: 37 debut) is the big mover of the week, it’s up sixteen places to No.37 to be the only Top 50 entry for the group, and with no new episodes in Australia for another week or so (due to the Commonwealth Games on Channel 10), don’t expect too many new tracks from the guys soon. Their version of “The Only Exception” is up to a new peak of No.53, and “Me against the Music” stays stable at No.93 for a second week. Their three other tracks in the Top 100 are “Empire State of Mind” (20 to 59 this week), “Telephone” (30 to 72) and “Billionaire” (34 to 77). And with Channel 10 replaying the first two episodes of Season 2 back-to-back this coming Friday, the songs listed here might go back up.

Sydney quartet The Jezabels score their first ARIA Singles Chart entry with their third EP entitled “Dark Storm” (Phys: 1 debut), which enters at No.40 this week. The two guys and two girls have been touring nationally recently, and finish that tour in Sydney this Thursday (Oct 14th), before heading off to the US and Canada until mid-November.

BELOW Top 50: The Ting Ting’s leap twenty-six places to No.57 with their new track “Hands”, and right behind them is Swedish DJ Adrian Lux, who climbs fourteen places to No.58 with “Teenage Crime”. The biggest Top 100 leap of the week is the new track for Enrique Iglesias with Nicole Schersinger, and the song “Heartbeat”, which is up twenty-seven places to No.61. Sparkadia picked up Nova airplay this week, and that has helped their track “Talking like I’m Falling down Stairs” to ascend sixteen places to No.79, and re-entering at No.80 and scoring a new peak in the process is Travie McCoy’s second single “We’ll Be Alright”. Talking of re-entries, Lady GaGa is back into the Top 100 with “Poker Face”, now in its 104th week, meaning it accumulated two whole years within the Top 100,and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” is up three places to No.87 and that song has now racked up 98 weeks within the Top 100. And also scoring a 104th week in the charts is the Tame Impala (EP) (Phys: 19 hold), on the physical sales chart though.

Eminem debuts at No.51 with the official third single from his “Recovery” (TW-02) album entitled “No Love”, and featuring guest vocals from Lil’ Wayne, who is returning the favor Eminem did for him on Wayne’s track “Drop the World” (HP-56, Feb 2010) from earlier this year. And this new track has an interesting sample loop used in it “What is Love” by Haddaway (HP-12, peaked Jan. 94).

California hip-hop/rap duo New Boyz debut at No.67 with their third single “Break My Bank”, featuring Iyaz as guest vocalist. The two guys (Ben J and Legacy {Thomas to his mother}) met as freshman at Hesperia High School in California a couple of years ago, and started up a MySpace page to promote their raps, and when they released the ‘jerkin’ track “You’re a Jerk” they were an instant hit with the track hitting No.24 on the Billboard Top 100 and No. 4 on their Rap Chart. Their second single “Tie Me Down” featuring Ray J went a little higher peaking at No.22. This new track is currently at No.68 in the US and is taken from their forthcoming second album entitled “Too Cool to Care”, due for release in December overseas.

Amy Meredith performed on X-Factor this past week, and the track they did enters at No.68, “Young at Heart”. They also re-enter at No.94 with their former Top 10 track “Lying”, both taken from their current album “Restless”, which climbs a little to No.88 this week.

Ne-Yo is set to release his fourth album “Libra Scale” in late October, and the second single from that album enters at No.78 entitled “One in a Million”. First single from that new album was the No.53 single “Beautiful Monster” (peaked August 2010), and this new track becomes his eleventh Top 100 appearance.

    Albums

Linkin Park make it four weeks in a row at No.1 with their second chart-topper “A Thousand Suns”, with only two possible albums set to knock it off the top next week, one being the new Robbie Williams Greatest Hits set, the other is the former summit holder, Eminem’s “Recovery”, which is back up two places to No.2 this week no doubt helped by the third single charting from his album.

Phil Collins benefits from TV advertising of his new album “Going Back”, which after two weeks at No.9, it leaps six places to No.3. Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” drops to No.4 after spending the previous five weeks within the Top 2, and thanks to their current promo tour (and X-Factor appearance) The Script climb back up three places to No.5 with their “Science & Faith” album.

Birds of Tokyo continue to climb, and their self-titled album is up one place to No.6, whilst the other bird in the Top 10, “Little Bird” by Kasey Chambers drops down five places to No.8. Debuting in between those two is the highest new entry of the week, the debut and self-titled album by Sydney dance duo The Bag Raiders, coming in at No.7. The album contains their two ARIA Top 100 singles “Shooting Star” (HP-62, August 2009) and the current track “Way Back Home” (HP-68, drops out this week). Santana drops four places to No.9 with his “Guitar Heaven” album, and holding onto No.10 for a second week is “Down the Way” by Angus & Julia Stone.

ALBUM MOVERS: Adam Lambert’s new repackaged tour edition of his “For Your Entertainment” not only scores its third Top 50 single this week (for the title track), it also scores a new peak by leaping eleven places to No.12. And Neil Young leaps thirty-nine places to No.44 with his 34th studio album “Le Noise”.

Marcia Hines debuts at No.16 with her cover of the Carole King 1971 album Tapestry entitled “Marcia Sings Tapestry”. Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts

    (Thanks to Gavin Ryan)

    Singles

Rihanna maintains her No.1 debut from last week by spending a second week at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with “Only Girl (in the World)” (DL: 1 hold). In the ranking of ‘Most Weeks Accumulated at No.1’, she now moves from 21st to 18th on the list, as she has now racked up twenty-eight weeks at No.1 from her six chart-topping appearances, that places her between Olivia Newton-John at No.19 (28 weeks from five No.1’s) and The Black Eyed Peas at No.17 (28 weeks from seven No.1’s), whilst her next target will be Kylie Minogue who has racked up thirty-one weeks in total.

The former No.1 for Taio Cruz retains his No.2 position with “Dynamite” (DL: 2 to 3), helped possibly by the X-Factor opening song done by the Top 11 last Sunday night. Moving up to a new peak of No.3 is Bruno Mars and “Just the Way You Are” (DL: 3 to 2), which gives him his second No.3 single, as “Nothin’ on You” made it to that position back on the May 10th chart. After two weeks at No.11, B.o.B. and River Cuomo jump up six places to land at No.5 with “Magic” (DL: 11 to 4), now giving B.o.B. his third Top 5 single after the aforementioned “Nothin’ on You” (TW-96) there was also “Airplanes” (TW-38) with Hayley Williams which sat at No.2 for six weeks. After three weeks at No.3, Usher and Pitbull are down three places to No.6 with “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” (DL: 5 to 7), which also pushes down Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” (DL: 4 to 5) three places to No.7 this week. Down one place each are Mike Posner to No.8 with his debut single “Cooler Than Me” (DL: 6 hold), and Cee-Lo Green to No.9 with “F.U.” (DL: 9 hold), whilst the former six-week No.1 single for Eminem and Rihanna “Love the Way You Lie” (DL: 7 to 8) is the biggest falling track within the Top 10, it’s down four places to No.10.

Short Stack makes an impressive debut at No.4 with their new single “Planets” (DL: 15 debut, Phys: 43 to 1). It’s the Aussie groups fifth charting single, and third to make it to the Top 10 thanks in part to their huge internet fan base, who are rabid to buy their product first week, which usually means they have a big drop in their second week. NEW PEAKS: The Potbelleez score a Top 20 entry this week with their current single “Hello” (DL: 30 to 21), which is up seven places to No.19, whilst another local dance act, Zoe Badwi, is up six places to No.23 with her single “Freefallin” (DL: 27 to 20). Two more Australian acts score new peaks from their appearance last Monday night on X-Factor, with Scarlett Belle jumping ten places to No.37 with their second single “Freak Tonight” (DL: 46 to 37), and also up ten places to No.39 are Justice Crew and their debut single “And Then We Dance” (Phys: 10 to 7), and mention must go to the other track that benefits from an X-Factor performance, “Little Lion Man” from Mumford & Sons was performed by two of the contestants on the show and re-enters the Top 100 this week at No.48. There are three more peaks in the Top 50, but they are all Glee tracks, so I’ll mention those in the Glee Report down below.

“Barbra Streisand” (DL: 14 debut) scores the second biggest new entry of the week coming in at No.12. I’m talking about the song by New York duo Duck Sauce, who consist of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, whose new dance track samples the Boney M single “Gotta Go Home” (HP-44, Oct 1979) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EjLWh2150I , which when you listen to it is a direct sample of the track with a guy saying ‘Barbra Streisand” over the loop. This is the duo’s second charting single, but first Top 50 entry, as they hit No.56 last November with “aNYway” (the NY is for their hometown of New York).

Glee Report: The three Top 50 debuts from last week all move up the charts this week, with “Empire State of Mind” (DL: 39 to 18) jumping twenty places to No.20, pushing the original down seven places to No.32. “Telephone” (DL: 44 to 29) is up fifteen places to No.30, whilst the original is up sixteen places to No.52. And the gangs version of “Billionaire” (DL: 49 to 34) is up sixteen places to No.34, helping the original version by Travie McCoy to rebound five places to No.22. This past weeks episode was the Britney Spears edition (mostly all Britney songs), and from that episode three songs enter the Top 100, firstly at No.53 is their rendition of “Toxic” (HP-1, March 2004), and their second Britney song enters at No.93, “Me Against the Music” (HP-1, November 2003). The third song from this past weeks episode is a version of Paramore’s “The Only Exception” (DL: re-entry at 40) which enters at No.60, helping the original by Paramore to climb back up fourteen places to No.40 this week. The troupe’s seventh Top 100 single of the week is “Listen”, which climbs four places to a new peak of No.87.

Below Top 50: With Glee’s “Listen” climbing to a new peak, there are two more tracks that are to new heights, the first climbs twenty places to No.72, and belongs to Swedish DJ Adrian Lux with his track “Teenage Crime”. Enrique Iglesias and Nicole Scherzinger score third lower peak, as his new single “Heartbeat” is up seven places to No.88.

James Blunt is set to release his third album in early November entitled “Some Kind of Trouble”, and the lead single from the new album, “Stay the Night”, debuts at No.56 this week. It becomes his sixth charting single here, the last being September 2007’s “1973” (HP-11). And another Englishman who is landing his fifth charting ARIA Single is Mark Ronson, who debuts at No.66 with “The Bike Song”, taken from his new album “Record Collection” which is the highest new album entry this week.

Adam Lambert takes the lead track from his album “For Your Entertainment” into the Top 100 at No.69 this week, which gives him three singles inside the Top 70 this week, as his first single “Whataya Want From Me” is at No.61, and his second single “If I Had You” is at No.25, both tracks having previously peaked at No.4, can Adam do it for a third time. He will be helped up the charts by his upcoming November national tour, and his album has just been repackaged and is up seven places to No.23 this week.

Kasey Chambers stays at No.3 on the album charts with her sixth album “Little Bird”, from which the title track debuts at No.82 this week. “Little Bird” is Kasey’s fourteenth singles chart entry and her first since her last album’s title track “Rattlin’ Bones” hit No.55 in December of 2008.

English duo The Ting Tings are set to release their second album “Kunst” (‘Art’ in German) by the end of the year, and the first taste from that new album debuts at No.83 entitled “Hands”. It’s their fourth chart entry in Australia, having charted in 2008 with the three singles “Great DJ” (HP-52, entered in June), “That’s Not My Name” (No.8, peaked in September) and “Shut Up and Let Me Go” (HP-44, entered in November).

Teen sensation Selena Gomez & The Scene debut at No.100 with their new track “A Year Without Rain”, their third entry for the year, having charted in January with “Naturally” (HP-46) and August with “Round and Round” (HP-80). This new single is the title track from their second album which debuts at No.46 this week, and this song is currently Top 30 in Canada and Top 40 in the USA.

And once again, Lady GaGa falls out of the Top 100, racking up 103 weeks with her track “Poker Face”, which amassed 103 weeks in the Top 100 (one week shy of 2 years), so the throne for longest current charting single goes back to Beyonce’s “Singles Ladies” which is spending it’s 97th week in the charts at No.90 this week, whilst third placed longest-runner “Hot N’ Cold” by Katy Perry re-enters at No.89 in it’s 78th week in the charts. Plus the Tame Impala EP is spending it’s 103rd week inside the Top 50 physical chart.

    Albums

Linkin Park stay atop the ARIA Albums Chart for a third week with their “A Thousand Suns” album, and in fact the entire Top 5 albums stay put this week, with Katy Perry spending a third week at No.2 with “Teenage Dream”, Kasey Chambers and Santana spend a second week after their debut their last week at No.3 and No.5 with “Little Bird” and “Guitar Heaven” respectively, and Eminem is at No.4 again this week with his "Recovery” album.

Mark Ronson’s third album “Record Collection” debuts at No.6, and is not only the highest new entry of the week, but his first album to chart here in Australia. His first album “Here Comes the Fuzz” (2003) and second set “Version” (2007) both failed to chart here, but his new set is helped by the two “Bang Bang Bang” (HP-16, drops out this week) and his new one “The Bike Song” (debut No.66 this week).

The rest of the Top 10 albums sees Bird of Tokyo take their self-titled album up three places to No.7, whilst The Script spend a third week in the Top 10 by dropping two places to No.8 with “Science & Faith”. Phil Collins too holds his debut position from last week, his “Going Back” album at No.9 again, and Angus & Julia Stone climb back up three places to land at No.10 with “Down the Way”.

Movers & Peakers: Metallica climb five places to No.12 with their eight track live compilation for Australian fans entitled “Six Feet Down Under”, and 30 Seconds to Mars are up three places to a new peak of No.18 with “This is War”. Adam Lambert’s new repackaged tour edition version of “For Your Entertainment” is up seven places to No.23, and helped by a great X-Factor performance and a Top 50 re-entry for “Little Lion Man”, Mumford & Sons’ album “Sigh No More” rebounds sixteen places to No.26 this week.

Soundgarden debut at No.20 with the career-spanning compilation album “Telephantasm”, which also features the recent new single “Black Rain” (HP-90, August 2010). It’s the groups third compilation set, and the album was packaged along with the new game “Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock” in some territories. Their album history is listed below…

The fourth album for John Legend entitled “Wake Up!” is a collaboration with the group The Roots and debuts at No.42 to become John’s second best charting effort behind the 2006 re-entry of his debut album “Get Lifted” (HP-36, February 2006). And of the ten albums The Roots have done, this is their third chart appearance, having already charted this year with “How I Got Over” (HP-71, July 2010).

Local act Shihad debut at No.44 with their eighth studio album entitled “IGNITE”. The former New Zealand natives, who are now based in Melbourne hit No.11 with the two previous albums, and have previously scored a Top 10 album when they changed their name to Pacifier in 2002 (due to their name being close to jihad, which that name had some issues in early part of this century).
