(Thanks to Gavin Ryan)
Singles
Australia has loved Eminem and Rihanna's lies to keep their song "Love the Way You Lie" (DL: 1 hold) at the top of the ARIA Singles chart for a fifth week, making it now the equal second longest running No.1 single of 2010, tying with the Owl City track “Fireflies” and a week behind Usher’s six week run with “OMG”. It gives Eminem his equal second longest run at the top, tying with the five weeks “Without Me” accumulated from bouncing back and forth on three occasions in 2002, but is shy of his longest run of 12 weeks for “Lose Yourself” (2002/03). “Love the Way You Lie” has helped move Eminem up into position nineteen on the ‘Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1-Singles’ listing (1940-2010), and Rihanna is now on that list at No.22. Eminem has now amassed 27 weeks at No.1 (one shy of Olivia Newton-John and The Black Eyed Peas), and Rihanna has racked up 25 weeks, just ahead of Dean Martin, and one shy of Al Jolson (1940’s jazz singer, ask your nana).
With Eminem and Rihanna again at No.1, this keeps Taio Cruz at No.2 for a second week with his latest single "Dynamite" (DL: 2 hold), which now stays twice as long at No.2 than his previous No.2 single "Break Your Heart" (DL: 25 to 36). He also stays put at No.16 with his other charting single "Dirty Picture" (DL: 16 to 15) for a third week, all of which has helped his album to climb, more on that later.
The film 'Step Up 3D' opened in cinemas during the last buying/chart period, and it sees it’s soundtrack shoot into the Top 10 this week, and also the album’s lead single is up three places to a new peak of No.3 this week. That song is "Club Can't Handle Me" (DL: 7 to 3) by Flo Rida featuring David Guetta and it leaps over last weeks highest new entry of "Teenage Dream" (DL: 3 to 4) by Katy Perry which stays put at No.4 this week. Katy's other current Top 10 entrant of "California Gurls" (DL: 6 to 7) also stays stable, and both of these songs might move up the charts next week, as Katy has been in the country pre-promoting her upcoming album which is due at the end of the month. Three other songs also stay put from where they were last week, with "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" (DL: 4 to 5, Phys: 25 to 5) by Usher at No.5, "If I Had You" (DL: 8 to 9, Phys: 5 to 8) by Adam Lambert at No.8 and for a sixth non-consecutive week, Eminem's "Not Afraid" (DL: 11 hold) is at No.10. In between all of those, Enrique Iglesias' "I Like it" (DL: 5 to 6) is down three places to No.6 this week.
Back in February Taylor Swift debuted in the Top 10 with the track "Today Was a Fairytale" from the 'Valentine's Day' soundtrack, which re-enters at No.100 this week due to the movie’s recent release on DVD. But this week she again debuts inside the Top 10, coming in at No.9 with her new single "Mine" (DL: 8 debut), the first taste from her third album "Speak Now" (due late October). And with "Mine" debuting inside the Top 10 it instantly becomes her fourth Top 10 single here in Australia, while the track also debuted at No.7 in Canada and No.3 in the US this past week.
The other high new entry is the second EP from local dance act Art vs Science, with this new one entitled "Magic Fountain" (DL: 17 debut, Phys: 3 debut), it debuts at No.14 this week. Their first self titled EP finally peaked at No.32 in February this year and at the same time hit No.1 on the physical sales chart, and has spent 39 weeks in the Top 100 and 66 weeks on the physical chart and is sitting at No.6 this week. That peak was helped by the EP's lead track "Parlez Vous Francais?" being voted at No.2 on the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2009.
NEW PEAKS: Michael Paynter climbs a few places to land inside the Top 20 at No.19 with his single "Love the Fall" (DL: 31 to 24, Phys: 1 hold). 30 Seconds to Mars jump fourteen places to No.22 to score their second highest charting single with "Closer to the Edge" (DL: 36 to 21). Lady GaGa again jumps up the chart, this time nineteen places to No.24 with her latest song "Dance in the Dark" (DL: 42 to 23).
Nickelback climb eight places to No.31 with "This Afternoon" (DL: 39 to 31). Stan Walker makes it three-for-three in the Top 40, as his latest single "Choose You" (DL: 37 debut, Phys: 7 hold) is up twenty-one places to No.33 this week. And also breaking into the Top 50, at No.50 up twenty-three places is Rihanna's new single "Rockstar 101", meaning that she tops-and-tails the Top 50 this week.
Debuting at No.29 is the fourth single from Ke$ha's "Animal" (TW-19) album entitled "Take it Off" (DL: 29 debut). It joins her other current charting singles "Your Love is My Drug" (TW-32) and her former No.1 "Tik Tok" (TW-76), and will this new track make it a fourth Top 10 hit in a row for her?
Two local DJ's, Tommy Trash and Tom Piper have teamed up on the track "The Bum Song", which debuts at No.40 this week. This is now the second chart entry for Tommy Trash, having reached No.14 in July of 2009 with the track "Need Me to Stay", and this song is another homage to the rear-end but nothing like the classics of "Baby Got Back" or "Rump Shaker", as the guys use the word bum as the melody, kinda like Crazy Frog did!!
Linkin Park's fourth album "A Thousand Suns" is due in mid September, and the first single from that album debuts at No.46 this week entitled "The Catalyst". It becomes their 18th charting single here in Australia, and their first since performing the theme from ‘Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” which hit No.3 in July of 2009. The groups entire singles chart history is here…

Below Top 50: 22 Year-old Michigan, U.S. native Mike Posner debuts at No.52 with his first single "Cooler Than Me", taken from his end-of-August due "31 Minutes to Take Off". And not much lower at No.55 is the third single for B.o.B., this time he's teamed up with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo on the dance track "Magic", which debuts at No.55 this week giving him three singles in the Top 100.
Three Swedish DJ's called Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso make up the aptly named Swedish House Mafia, who take their third single "One (Your Name)" into the ARIA Singles chart at No.86 this week. The track features Pharrell Williams on vocals, and is currently Top 10 in Belgium, The Netherlands and England.
Selena Gomez and the Scene score a second ARIA entry this week as the lead single from their second album "A Year Without Rain" debuts at No.87, it's called "Round and Round". The group hit No.46 in early February with the track “Naturally”.
Florence + The Machine debut at No.93 with their new release from this weeks No.3 album "Lungs" entitled "Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)". It joins their other current charting singles "You've Got the Love" (TW-38) and "Dog Days are Over" (TW-99).
We say goodbye to the second longest charting single in ARIA's history this week, as "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" by Beyonce leaves the singles chart after 90 weeks. But holding on for a 99th week is Lady GaGa's "Poker Face", which rises a place to No.98 this week. Maybe next week it'll clock up the 100 week mark, but we'll have to wait and see.
Albums
Eminem reclaims the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart this week as his "Recovery" set returns to the top for a seventh week, now equalling his run at the top with his album “The Eminem Show” (2002). “Recovery” is now the longest running No.1 of 2010, beating the six weeks posted by Susan Boyle at the start of the year, plus Eminem has now racked up twenty weeks at the top of the ARIA Charts, putting him equal twentieth with Mariah Carey on the list for ‘Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1-Albums” (1965-2010). If he stays again next week Eminem will tie with Shania Twain and The Eagles as 21 weeks apiece.
With Eminem's return to the top, it pushes last week's new entry for Bliss N' Eso with "Running on Air" down to No.2, and with Washington and their album "I Believe You, Liar" down one place to No.4 and Birds of Tokyo's self-titled third album also down one place to No.5 it makes three of the Top 5 all by local acts. The other act in that sandwich is Florence + The Machine, who climb two places to a new peak of No.3 in their 50th week on the charts with “Lungs”.
Mumford & Sons and Angus & Julia Stone both climb back up the Top 10 to No.6 and No.7 respectively, whilst Kylie Minogue's "Aphrodite" is down one place to No.8, and another of last week's debuts, "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire slips down four places to No.10. Jumping up forty-four places to land at No.9 is the newly cinema released film "Step-Up 3D", of which the soundtrack features the current No.3 single for Flo Rida "Club Can't Handle Me" and long-running single for T-Pain, "Take Your Shirt Off" (TW-56, 25th week in Top 100).
There is only ONE new entry to the Top 100 this week, which I'll talk about later. But in the country the past week was Slash, and his newly repackaged self-titled album jumps up twenty-eight places to No.15. Also another former tourist who just left the country is 30 Seconds to Mars, who again climb this week, their album "This is War" is up seventeen places to a new peak of No.25. After four weeks bubbling around the lower part of the Top 50 albums, Taio Cruz jumps up this week thirteen places to No.33 with his album "Rokstarr", thanks mostly to it's three currently charting tracks. And with the new release of a Taylor Swift single, it has reignited her former No.2 album "Fearless", which is up fourteen places to No.37.
Back in May, INXS released a collection set called "Platinum-Greatest Hits", which was only available as a download album. The physical release occured recently and that has helped the album to jump back into the charts at No.44 this week. And also re-entering at No.50 is Tim McGraw's album "Southern Voice", which originally hit No.96 last November.
The highest (and only) new entry for the week comes from Sicilian born but Brisbane, Queensland raised brother and sister duo of Rosario and Anna-Marie La Spina, who are known as just La Spina, and the opera singers score their first chart entry at No.73 with the album "Always You".

Broadwayworld has recently learned of the passing of actress Dana Dawson. The 36 year old had been battling cancer.
Dawson began acting at the age of seven in a national tour of Annie. She was an understudy of the character Mimi, in the national tour of Rent in 2000 and joined the Broadway cast in 2001 as an understudy/swing.
As a singer, Dawson released her first single in 1988 at the age of 14. In 1993 Dana signed a record deal with EMI and was now musically based in the UK. Her second album, Black Butterfly, was released in October 1995 and included three singles that made the UK Top 40 chart: "3 Is Family" reached number 9 in July 1995, "Got to Give Me Love" reached number 27 in October 1995, and "Show Me" reached number 28 in May 1996.
In 1997, Dana Dawson collaborated on the Dolce & Gabbana single "More, more, more" provided the vocals on this dance remake of the Andrea True Connection hit single.
The Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire featured her 2001 single, "Nice Life" which was only released as a single in France.
Several multi-track "singles" of Dawson's music have been released in the United Kingdom, including 3 Is Family, Got To Give Me Love, and How I Wanna Be Loved. Dawson's songs are included on many other albums, including EMI's Music of the Twentieth Century: 1980-1999 and Virgin's Best Dance Album 1995; she also performed on the Michael W. Smith 1989 Gospel album I 2 Eye.
Broadwayworld's thoughts and prayers go out to Dawson's family and friends.

Alex’s Love won’t get out of Monarchy’s way
By Alan Jones
Source: musicweek
Italian producer Alex Gaudino has crafted some classic house tracks in his time and is back in form with I’m In Love, which jumps emphatically to the top of the Upfront club chart this week, with a 17-40% majority over runner-up Monarchy’s Love Get Out Of My Way. It also soars 21-5 on the Commercial Pop chart.
Gaudino previously topped both charts in 2008 with Watch Out, and also topped the Commercial Pop chart in 2007 with his signature tune Destination Calabria. That track also reached number two Upfront. Gaudino had two major Upfront chart hits last year, reaching number three with Take Me Down (To The Water) and number two with I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll. The former title was a collaboration with Steve Edwards, the latter Jason Rooney.
Alexandra Burke scores her fourth straight number one on the Commercial Pop chart since last October, with Start Without You. Mixed by Stonebridge, the track emulates Bad Boy, her anthemic collaboration with Flo-Rida which reached number one last October, Broken Heels (January) and All Night Long (April). Her first hit, Hallelujah, was not serviced to clubs.
Usher returns to the top of the Urban chart, his DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love collaboration with Pitbull surging 20-1. Usher topped the chart earlier this year with will.i.am pairing OMG but subsequently reached only number 13 with Lil Freak in June.

Singles
Eminem and Rihanna stay put at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart for a fourth week with the track "Love the Way You Lie" (DL: 1 hold), but Eminem loses his double chart-crown by losing the top spot on the albums charts after six weeks, three weeks occupying both charts though. Rihanna has now accumulated six weeks at the top of the ARIA Charts in 2010, equaling “OMG” by Usher which spent six weeks at the top during May and June. RiRi has done it with this latest track and her March No.1 “Rude Boy”.
Taio Cruz scores his second consecutive No.2 single, as "Dynamite" (DL: 6 to 2) explodes five places up the chart to land at No.2, the same peak his first single "Break Your Heart" did in May, which sits at No.25 this week. With "Dynamite" leaping up the charts, it pushes "I Like it" (DL: 3 to 5) for Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull down to No.3 after four weeks of occupying the No.2 spot. Pitbull's other collaboration; this time with Usher on "DJ's Got us Fallin' in Love" (DL: 2 to 4, Phys: 25 debut) is down two places to No.5 this week.
Flo Rida and David Guetta hold at No.6 with "Club Can't Handle Me" (DL: 8 to 7), but it should climb next week due to 'Step Up 3D' (Soundtrack TW-53) opening in cinemas last Thursday, from which this song is taken. Adam Lambert falls three places to No.8 with his second Top 10 entry "If I Had You" (DL: 5 to 8, Phys: 6 to 5), and holding on to their Top 10 fortunes at No.9 are Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars with "Billionaire" (DL: 7 to 9), only down one place. And it's a fifth non-consecutive week at No.10 for Eminem's "Not Afraid" (DL: 11 hold), giving him another week of top-and-tale in the Top 10.
Katy Perry's former No.1 single "California Gurls" (DL: 4 to 6) had previosuly been no lower on the charts than No.5, but this week her teaming with Snoop Dogg falls down three places to No.7. But she does also score the highest new entry of the week, as the title track from her forthcoming second album (due August 27th) "Teenage Dream" (DL: 13 to 3) debuts at No.4, one place lower than where "Cali Gurls" originally entered back in late May. The second single from Katy's "One of the Boys" (TW-37) album was "Hot N' Cold" (TW-85), which eventually rose to No.4 in its ninth week on the charts. This is Katy's ninth charting single and sixth Top 10 placing.
NEW PEAKS: With Birds of Tokyo's self-titled album only dropping down two places to No.4 this week, it helps keep their single "Plans" (DL: 24 to 19) moving up the charts, this week it climbs four places to No.20. And right behind them are two more new peaking tracks, at No.21, up nine places is Train's "If it's Love" (DL: 30 to 20), and up seven places to No.22 is Michael Paynter's "Love the Fall" (DL: 34 to 31, Phys: 2 to 1).
Whilst Lady Antebellum's album "Need You Now" is steady at No.23 this week, the single of the same name is up five places to No.27 (DL: 31 to 26). Jason DeRulo's "What if" climbs three places to No.32, and right behind him is Angus and Julia Stone with "Big Jet Plane" (DL: 35 to 34), whilst only up one place it is a new peak for the track at No.33. Up sixteen spots to No.36 are current tourists 30 Seconds to Mars with their third Top 50 entry "Closer to the Edge" (DL: 36 debut). Another tourist is Florence + The Machine, who leap back into the Top 50 at No.31 (LW-71) (DL: 30 re-entry) with their former Top 10 single "You've Got the Love".
Nickelback creep into the Top 40 at No.39, up seven places, with their latest single "This Afternoon" (DL: 46 to 39). The biggest climbing single of the week is the fourth single from Lady GaGa's "Monster" section of "The Fame Monster" (TW-14) album entitled "Dance in the Dark", it leaps fifty places to land at No.43 this week. Local hip-hop act Bliss N' Eso score the new No.1 album, and also land their second Top 50 entry, as "Down By the River" moves up thirteen places to No.45, two places lower than their 2007 single “Bullet and a Target” which peaked at No.43. Right behind them at No.46 scoring a new peak is Brandon Flowers and his track "Crossfire".
Below Top 50: Ne-Yo leapt up the charts last week with "Beautiful Monster", but this week that track is up four places to No.53. After two weeks at No.62, Calvin Harris is up to No.58 with "You Used to Hold Me". Last week's two other new entries move up to new peaks this week, with The Potbelleez climbing nine places to No.82 with "Hello", and Gorillaz are up a couple of places to No.94 with their latest track "On Melancholy Hill".
Stan Walker debuts at No.54 with his third chart entry, "Choose You" (Phys: 7 debut). It follows on from his first singles "Black Box" (HP-02, Nov 2009) and the recent "Unbroken" which reached No.23 in late May, and is sitting at No.70 this week. His debut solo album “From the Inside Out” is due August 20th. This new single debuted at No.7 in New Zealand two weeks ago, falling to No.12 this past week, and he looks great in his new corn-row hairstyle for the clip.
The fourth single from Rihanna's album "Rated R" (TW-58) debuts at No.73 entitled "Rockstar 101", featuring former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. Her second and third single from the album are also on the charts, with third track "Te Amo" dropping to No.84, and her former No.1 track “Rude Boy" dropping out of the charts from No.97 after 27 weeks in the charts. Of course she is also atop the singles chart as guest vocalist on Eminem's latest single.
The fourth and final new entry of the week comes in at No.93, and is a new track for Bliss N' Eso entitled "Addicted", which is taken from the new No.1 album in the country and becomes their fifth charting single.
Albums
After six weeks at No.1, Eminem loses his chart crown for the "Recovery" album, which drops to No.2 this week, to local hip-hop act Bliss N' Eso with their fourth album "Running on Air". The group’s previous best effort was with their 2008 set "Flying Colours" which debuted and peaked at No.10 in May of that year.
“Running on Air” is the 617th No.1 album in Australia, and only the third locally performed No.1, the other two being Angus & Julia Stone and The John Butler Trio both in March, and also becomes the 145th No.1 album by an Australian act and they are the 74th local act to top the Australian Album Charts (1965-2010) and the 45th Australian GROUP to top the charts. The album is also the first time that the words ‘Running’ or ‘Air’ have appeared in a No.1 album title. The group’s previous charting efforts have been:

Kylie Minogue's "Aphrodite" is down four places to No.7, and Mumford and Sons' took a giant leap last week to No.5 with "Sigh No More", which this week falls down three places to No.8. And another act that climbed last week, but drop this week are Angus & Julia Stone whose "Down the Way" album drops six places to No.10.
I've mentioned one of the four new entries to the Top 10 this week for Bliss N' Eso, so the next highest new entry is also from a local act, Brisbane group Washington and their debut album "I Believe You, Liar", which debuts at No.3. The album contains five of the six singles/EP’s that Megan and the group have released, including the new track “Sunday Best”, plus the chart hits “How to Tame Lions” (HP-73, Oct 2009) and “Rich Kids”( HP-70, May 2010).

And recently announced future tourists The Gorillaz break back into the Top 50 at No.47 with "Plastic Beach", the former No.1 album is up fifteen places from last week.
Recent Dancing with the Stars evictee Melinda Schnieder mentioned as she was leaving the show that she had a new album coming out, and this week that new album debuts at No.30 entitled "Melinda Does Doris", an album of Doris Day covers, and her sixth studio album, plus her first Top 50 entry.
