  1. Difference is Maggie had a vision, a desire for change Cameron/Clegg and Miliband don't, they just want the power
  2. That won't be an issue but at next election Miliband will be all about "change" and will have to sell this change convincingly, he will have to improve on his communication skills, Cameron will be "better the devil you know than the devil you don't"and communicates well
  3. What politician isn't ? I bet if every politician was asked would they like to be PM they would say yes
  4. On the front page of News/Perspectives it says - Thought provoking and controversial issues. If I had called for the genocide of all blacks or asians or whatever then absolutely, warning or ban would be justified but I didn't, I have not made a single post that I deem to be racist, controversial/thought provoking ? yes absolutely, racist ? no This is by far the most politically correct board that I have ever come across in the 11 years that I have been using the net and it is getting quite ridiculous tbh, people screaming and crying "racist" all the time even people my age who should know better, is it any wonder I make about 30 posts on DS now for every 1 that I do here, on DS I don't get the PC brigade crying racist left right and centre, there is mature debate of the issues as opposed to slogans and catcphrases and soundbites of "racist" every time there is anything remotely controversial posted on here. One of these days I can see me giving up altogether, BJ News/Perspectives is an online branch of the socialist workers party almost, I am the only right winger here and when I say anything right wing I am branded a racist and people report me to admin or call for me to be banned or warned. News/Perspectives as it says on the tin is for thought provoking and controversial issues
  5. Yeah but I reversed the roles, Maggie if she had resigned would have just been another anonymous back bencher, no power base whatsoever, by staying in the cabinet and increasing her profile it gave her more chance of succeeding Heath
  6. it is better to be inside the tent p***ing out than being outside the tent p***ing in, I can't remember which president said that but he was spot on It is far better for Maggie to be part of the cabinet while at the same time getting a fanbase and plotting against Heath than being on the back benches having no influence
  7. The Heath government if you want to call it that betrayed true toryism so it was right to be condemned, he was a "wet", even I condemned it The sinking of the Belgrano was only an issue for lefties, it was totally the right thing to do and Maggie did the right thing based on the advice of military commanders
  8. Yeah I remember him getting a lot of ridicule on here last year probably 3rd after Danyl and Jedward so given the sizeable gay population on BJ I thought it right to query whether he had a big gay fanbase
  9. Indeed and same with Clegg too, there are now 3 used car salesmen in charge of the parties who would tell us anything to be elected, if Miliband thought telling us that the moon is made of blue cheese would pick him up votes he would do it Like her or hate her Maggie had her convictions and stood by them no matter what, that is the leadership that I like, now we have 3 used car salesmen as party leaders who will insult our intelligence Maggie had her beliefs and her principles and stuck by them no matter what, Miliband is just another Cameron/Clegg clone
  10. Disagree about the gays, he wasn't particularly popular on BJ and BJ is a case of spot the straight guy it has so many gay members
  11. Actually changed my mind, Karma Chameleon by Culture Club would be better Ed seems to be trying to be all things to all men, no conviction whatsoever In the election campaign he was singing the praises of the New Labour experiment now he disowns it, before he became leader he was in love with the unions and going to attend a rally in their honour now he disowns them, he has undergone other u turns too Another convictionless politician who will say anything to be elected :manson:
  12. Aah I was half right then nice one :) He doesn't strike me as being a particularly working class guy though, not someone to connect with labour's roots
  13. Aah my mistake then :o
  14. Aah didn't realise that, thought I read somewhere Ed went to school with Boris Johnson, just would never imagine Boris at a state school :o
  15. Johnson was the one labour guy that IMHO had a realistic chance of either beating Cameron or at the very least giving him a much smaller majority at the next election, he is a brilliant communicator and would have been great in the PM debates, he is also a working class guy and very down to earth and much more in tune with Labour roots than a socially awkward public schoolboy geek they have chosen.
  16. I don't think he is a red in the Livingstone/Benn/Scargill/Skinner sort of red, I think he is more of a moderate red probably slightly to the left of Neil Kinnock but the way he was elected was a PR disaster and it will be forever rammed down the public's throat at election time. Now as the last election showed people are not as taken in by the media as in the past but enough will be to make a difference IMHO Labour should have persuaded Alan Johnson to stand and elected him as leader, he was their one shot at winning the next election IMHO I hardly think calling ONE thing wrong is a bad track record
  17. Lloyd was just too weedy vocally, he would have been fine in a boyband 10 years ago but he just didn't have it Andy was just awful, couldn't stand him and I love soul music
  18. Window dressing, let him publicly condemn the BA strikers and condemn the underground strikers, until then.......
  19. Indeed in the literal sense but like I said I believe that Labour is now unelectable having chosen Ed, his appointment will for sure win Cameron the next election IMHO Ed might get a temporary boost but when reality hits of the damage the unions can cause to Britain and his tax policies Labour is heading for the electoral wilderness under him
  20. Cameron is an outstanding communicator and public speaker
  21. Sandie Shaw "Puppet On A String" would have been most appropriate, sums up Ed perfectly now he is dancing to the unions tune
  22. Good stuff I think for sure some sort of system where the jobless get either vouchers or a pre pay swipe card to the value of their benefits which can only be used in certain establishments and only on certain things would work It would end the unfairness of hard working people seeing the jobless have luxuries and treats the working people can't afford and it would improve their health as they couldn't spend it on lager and cigarettes and McDonalds
  23. Has he been taking communication and speech making lessons off Iain Duncan Smith ? I gave up listening to whatever he had to say because he was so dull
  24. Dead cat bounce as the saying goes
  25. I ❤ JustinBieber posted a post in a topic in Television
