LMAO :lol: :lol: My aunt for example, 68, ran a very successful business that she sold up, takes 3 holidays a year, drives a Porsche Cayenne etc, lives in a house you probably would need a sat nav to find way round it is so big, she is legally entitled to a winter fuel allowance, she is legally entitled to free eye tests, she is legally entitled to free prescriptions, she is legally entitled to a free bus pass, its madness that state money can go to her and there are millions of elderly in this country like her. Scrap everything for the likes of her and just have the money going to the shuffling old ladies who have to turn off bars of heating on the fire in the winter to save money etc I would means test child benefits, I would end child benefits for anything above 1 child, I would means test everything for the elderly bar the state pension, I would ban immigrants from claiming anything till they have paid tax for x amount of time, the initial costs of admin for these things would be quite high but it would pay for tax cuts further down the line.

The talk is of scrapping stuff for the well off elderly, there is a lot of wealthy elderly in this country, cruise ships are packed, the average age of a millionaire in this country is 59 so there are a lot of millionaire elderly so why does a millionaire need a free bus pass, free eye test, winter fuel allowance ? I think it is totally right that money goes only to those that genuinely need it in this country It is ridiculous that well off people with comfortable lifestyles get benefits and it is right to curb that. Poor elderly won't be affected.

Yeah we were dire tbh but I said on a Spurs board I use before the game that I expected we would lose tonight with a pitch like that, totally stifles our natural game so while I hate to see Spurs lose I was kinda resigned to it even before the game. Even if it was from a low base thanks to Labour the growth is still the highest in 47 years thanks to conservatives so the future looks rosy. The lefties will say that the construction market will go into freefall thanks to cancelling government projects but at the end of the day it is private sector projects that will power the market.

He owns a business repairing PC's yes so his company is pretty successful but I used her as an example although I am not of course advocating that people import stuff from abroad with stock costs etc It would be quite easy to speak to UK wholesalers and not have any stock outlay so have arrangements with them that when the buyer has ordered off you and paid you via Paypal you order the stock from the wholesaler and ship it, it is a common arrangement in terms of eBay sellers so the start up costs in that situation are minimal. I agree about Ed Milliband being more able to connect with the public than David, I fear Ed more than I do David.

Will give you an example too The wife of a friend of mine, she set up a business selling linen and similar products imported from Pakistan, she imported them and sold them on eBay for a premium, last year she made a PROFIT of £240,000 out of selling on eBay, this was a bored housewife so there is no reason why an unemployed person could not set up in business as an eBay trader, all you need is a PC, internet connection and contacts with a few suppliers of what you want to sell.

I am not talking about the unemployed as such am talking about the general poor, you also have a lot of professionals who are unemployed too as opposed to just career scroungers and ex binmen. A professional who is unemployed like for example an accountant why can't he set up a freelance accountancy business ? someone who lost their job in IT should set up their own IT consultancy, someone who is working for a building company can set up his own building company or a plasterer/plumber/handyman can set up a business in those areas, people can set up eBay shops to sell stuff if they have the nous to find wholesalers, there are plenty of opportunities out there for people to set up on their own, unemployed or poorly paid tradesman

I don't necessarily subscribe to the "trickle down economics" way of things, it worked for Reagan and he is revered in America, one of the most popular presidents ever but I don't necessarily subscribe to it. What I want to see is the return of the enterprise culture in this country, a "can do" society, I want to see the poor go start their own business and break free from poverty and the best way to do that is to have a low level of taxation so that entrepreneurs feel it is worth the effort taxation wise. Someone starting a business has to work probably 15 hrs a day 6 or 7 days a week to really make it work, if they are going to lose 40% or more of what they work for then I can see why many would not feel starting up in business is worth it. If they were going to pay 20% then it becomes a whole different ballgame. I pay top rate tax although am not massively over the threshold and while it doesn't demotivate me it does disillusion me knowing it is going to be Wednesday afternoon before I start earning for myself

Won't happen Seemingly David Milliband is going to be the next Labour leader, he does not have the charisma to connect with the public like say Blair did, I am not convinced that Milliband intelligent guy though he is would rally the people behind him, he does not have the charisma that Cameron has.

Those that are in favour of capping income at 135k have no grasp of business realities If 135k cap came in then the rush to the airports would paralyse the M25 as surgeons, scientists, FTSE100 CEO's, IT directors of large companies, lawyers, entrepreneurs and many others on over 135k a year rushed to emigrate. It would lead to a brain drain that would set the UK back a generation. IMHO high earners should pay less tax, as well as giving them more money to spend it also encourages people to become a high earner by starting their own business.

Maybe so but I really see no situation in which the opposition and I include the Lib Dems here would attempt to bring down the government, they simply can't afford to financially so even without help from the unionists a minority conservative government would see out its 5 year term

People by and large have more intelligence than they are credited for They know the country is being strangled by a crippling debt and that tough action is needed to make it happen The alternative to spending cuts would have been sharp income tax rises which would be even less popular and would kill the High St stone dead

I was desperate to get rid of Labour, I hope I never have to see another Labour government in my lifetime although I suspect given the cyclical nature of politics they will be back in power in around 15 years. The Lib Dems have no business sitting at the same table as the tory's, they are obstructing, watering down and we are neutering policy to appease the Lib Dems and are having to share a platform with political opposites. A party that LOST seats at the last election has the bare faced cheek to demand AV which could potentially change the face of government forever not that there is the slightest chance of the public voting for AV but the fact that these little pipsqueaks are laying down the law despite performing abysmally at the last election shows some nerve, the tories should tell the Lib Dems to go fukk themselves and pursue a conservative platform of legislation without the Lib Dems sticking their beaks in.

If I was Cameron I would cut the Lib Dems loose and rule as a minority Tory government helped by the Ulster Unionists, Labour/Lib Dems would never bring down the government unless they can find a billionaire to bankroll them. The economy is doing well despite what the doom and gloom merchants in the media who love to talk Britain down say, Britons understand the need for savage cuts, Cameron is popular so the Lib Dems are well and truly the weakest link in the chain so need to be cut loose. Personally I would like to see Cameron kicked out by David Davis but I think that won't happen before 2015, then we can have a serious right wing agenda again
