Minister says dead girl's mother was 'irresponsible'
I dunno what you put but am guessing you disagreed with me lol I don't know whether this girl or her mum were mature or not I didn't know them but my point was that we should not automatically assume this girl was all giggly and immature and incapable of being on her own just because she was 15 in physical years

Minister says dead girl's mother was 'irresponsible'
We are old timers though ICR, in our day 15 year old girls would play with barbie and would play doctors and nurses and play with dolls and actually had a childhood Todays generation are what 25 year olds were like in our day, everyone has to grow up so fast these days thanks largely to commercial pressures from advertisers, materialism, celebrity culture and the internet, todays generation have to be much more worldly and much more wise with society a lot more dangerous than it was in our day so just because this girl was 15 does not mean she was not very very mature as a person, if you are comparing her with our 15 year old generation then no she would't be she should still be playing with barbie but we live in a VERY different world now so I would not personally doubt her maturity, the small handful of 16-20 year olds I chat to online are more mature and responsible at that age than I was at 30

Formula 1 2008 Thread
If I wasn't such a long term fanatic I wouldn't bother watching the race tomorrow :manson: Hamilton will just sail off into the distance with his lapdog in tow lets just hope Kubica puts Hammy in the wall :D (unhurt of course) So pissed off about Kimi  I wonder if the ECU's control fuel pressure

£24.3million divorce settlement makes Heather Mills rich
Disgraceful decision :manson: What role has she taken in Paul accumulating his wealth ? did she write any Beatles songs ? did she play any instruments in Beatles or Wings ? She has made no contribution to the wealth he has built up so should not be entitled to any money other than maintanance payments for the child

Budget
Blaming the smoking ban on the decline in pubs is a very simplistic argument and not one that I agree with, we are just living in changing times now, pubs are becoming an outdated concept with more and more alternative forms of entertainment People are working longer and longer hours now so less time to go to the pub There are many alternatives for people such as restaurants (restaurants are absolutely booming atm) The cheap price of supermarket booze is encouraging more people to stay at home in the evenings after a hard days work Technology such as games consoles, the internet, hundreds of tv channels mean there is far more for younger people to do now in the evenings instead of going to the pub Fear of chavs and other gangs of unruly youths is deterring people from venturing out to the pub at night for fear of being attacked People as they become more wealthy are getting more sophisticated in their drinking habits, sales of wines and champagnes are going through the roof atm so the pint of bitter / pint of lager down the local at overinflated prices no longer has appeal Pubs are closing for the above reasons far more than any smoking ban

Minister says dead girl's mother was 'irresponsible'
While I can't find fault with what he said it was not appropriate to publicly say it when the woman is grieving for the loss of her daughter, if he wanted to think that privately then fine but his statement is unhelpful and adds even more distress for a grieving family I agree with the guy but there is a time and a place to say this stuff and now is certainly not the time

Formula 1 2008 Thread
On the subject of Alonso to Ferrari it simply won't happen Massa is managed by Nicolas Todt the son of Ferrari managing director Jean Todt Also Alonso would be like a fish out of water at Ferrari, he is one of those drivers that needs a family atmosphere and an arm around him and if he thinks McLaren is a cold harsh environment he ain't seen nothing yet Renault is Alonso's perfect place as it has the atmosphere he likes

Formula 1 2008 Thread
Much as I want to see a Kimi / Ferrari double I think Hamilton will win the title and McLaren the WCC My reason being the ECU systems that control all the cars this season are manufactured by, wait for it, MC LAREN so who is going to be the team that is most familiar with the ECU's ? yep McLaren It is utterly ridculous that a team convicted of cheating was given the contract by the FIA to supply ECU systems to all F1 teams, of course McLaren will have a few trade secrets they will keep for themselves given they manufacture all these devices McLaren and Lewis double :(

Would compulsory fingerprinting in airports put you off
While individual tragic instances are bound to occur like this murdered childs parents and I fully understand why they would want such a database the most important thing in society is freedom and civil liberties it is important to have civil liberties, freedoms and privacy so curbing the civil liberties and privacy of everyone is a very heavy price to pay for a small number of tragic cases like this one

Are white working class people ignored in Britain?
Middle class people have been shafted even more than working class Taxed through the nose with income tax double that of working class, shafted in terms of council tax on bigger properties in many cases £2000 a year, excessive taxes on 4x4's and luxury cars, petrol prices and so on Everyone is shafted under this "government"

Would compulsory fingerprinting in airports put you off
And I thought I was the biggest conspiracy theorist out there  Sadly you are right tbh Matt I really think you have hit the nail on the head with this one If as they say we have nothing to hide by having our fingerprints taken before getting on a plane how is this going to stop someone with no criminal record from blowing up a plane ? fingerprints would have to be cross referenced against a police database to see if anyone is a potential bomber but if they have no criminal record they are not going to be on the police database so are free to blow up a 747 :manson: So all these fingerprints that are taken will be added to the police database If this is ever introduced I will simply stop flying, I have nothing to hide but my fingerprints are not on a police database and the reason being I have no criminal record so it is an invasion of my privacy that I am not willing to accept

Would compulsory fingerprinting in airports put you off
This is just a Labour attempt to introduce compulsary fingerprinting for all through the back door, of course the fingerprints will be entered into databases, of course they will be shared with the police and other intelligence agencies, it is a gross invasion of privacy

Would compulsory fingerprinting in airports put you off
If it ain't broke don't fix it How many planes out of millions that have left Heathrow since the airport opened have been hijacked, suicide bombed and so on ? NONE I don't see the point in massively invading peoples privacy for a virtually non existent problem when there is already massive security at the airport already Travel is meant to be a pleasure but if you are a suspected suicide bomber until you prove you are not then it becomes a chore

Has 24-hour drinking been an unmitigated disaster?
I know from experience when pubs closed at 11 that at 10.45 I would order 2 pints before last orders and drink them as fast as I can and it is around chucking out time that most fights occur so I am in favour of the idea of drinking when one wants as can pace sessions instead of having to drink really fast before pub closes What should be banned is promotions that encourage binge drinking 2 for 1 offers, happy hours and that kind of thing, there should be a ban on those as that just encourages people to get wasted and the resulting disorder Keep 24 hr drinking but ban special promotions and happy hours

Do celebrity drug users get off too lightly?
I don't think the hideous state of Amy Winehouse who looks worse these days than the tramps that frequent West End shop doorways encourages anyone to take drugs, infact Winehouse should be a living advert as to why people shouldn't take them But yeah with Pete, Amy, Kate Moss getting away with drug stuff were that the ordinary guy in the street they would be doing time so yes it sucks

Completely over the top :manson: I used Terminal 3 recently and the security was more than sufficient, metal detectors, shoe scanners and so on without the need for all this nonsense

Was the 60s the best decade for pop music?
70's, 60's, 80's in that order for me with 90's and 00's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the field 70's easily for me as that is when my favourite genre classic rock first started making a big impact Probably 10% at most of my music collection is from 1990 onwards Anyone that says the 00's must be on a wind up
