I won't bother watching While the Chinese government are vile the olympics should be about sport not politics but I will not bother watching as the Olympics is about who has the best pharmacist not the best athletes
  2. Is it true he only had 1 assist too ? For all his fancy tricks he doesn't seem to have much end product Might come good in the future and end up better than Modric but right now I would even have Dos Santos instead of Anderson
  3. Berbatov and Keane while good are both replaceable, generally in the league those 2 got 13-15 goals each a season and now Bentley will likely get 8-10, Dos Santos and Modric and Arshavin will probably chip in with 8-10 each so if we sign a striker to get say 15 goals a season we will be a lot better off Our midfielders hardly scored any goals last season but in Bentley, Arshavin, Dos Santos and Modric we have midfielders who know where the net is
  4. Portsmouth are definitely the team to look out for this season, I really think they could take 4th ahead of the dippers, Redknapp is building a very good team there and Crouch and Defoe are going to score for fun. I wanted to put us higher and I think we will challenge for 3rd the following season but with up to 7 new first teamers being bought this summer it will take time for the squad to gel and get to know each other
  5. 1. Man Utd :( 2. Chelsea 3. Arsenal 4. Portsmouth 5. Liverpool 6. Spurs 7. Villa 8. Everton 9. Man City 10. Newcastle 11. Blackburn 12. West Ham 13. Sunderland 14. Boro 15. Fulham 16. Bolton 17. Wigan 18. West Brom 19. Hull 20. Stoke
  6. Levy is off to Lisbon today Veloso to Spurs ??? Would love that more than any other signing this summer
  7. Modric Reckoned by many to be one of the star players of Euro 2008, named in the final Euro 2008 team, destroyed England almost single handedly, proven at top international level Anderson An afterthought in the Nani deal, a handful of semi decent performances in 2008 and one great game, barely recognised at international level If I was Levy and you offered a straight swap Anderson for Modric I would laugh and put the phone down
  8. Well why hasn't Fergie sued Dos Santos for libel for claiming in an interview with Setanta that Utd wanted him and he turned them down ? the fact he hasn't sued for libel shows there has to be an element of truth in it Dos Santos has also got 8 assists in 2 games so far, yes only friendlies against mickey mouse clubs but the point is he has been getting bigger rave reviews in these 2 games than any player I can remember since Klinsmann And if Barcelona couldn't wait to get shot of him why did they demand a 40% cut of any sell on fee ? because they know if he is ever sold it is going to be for a massive massive fee I will make a prediction now, can bump this thread up in a years time and ridicule me all you like if I am wrong but Modric and Dos Santos will be in the Premiership team of the season
  9. Just like Gareth Bale needed you, just like Berbatov needed you, just like Dos Santos needed you
  10. Go ahead, would be very fitting given recent events Enjoy the benefits office :) We put Berbs on the map, he was rotting away in the Bundesliga probably the least high profile of the European leagues yet now you, Milan, Barca for instance are after him so yes playing for a high profile club in the biggest league in the world put him on the map Fact of the matter is you can't afford Berbs, you are up to your eyeballs in debt and have to pay £32m for Tevez, Levy has stated the price you can have Berbs for and you haven't come up with the money As for Fergie telling Berbs to cause as much disruption as possible at Spurs in order to leave for a low price Levy has well and truly called his bluff on that one, he has told Berbs he is fining him 2 weeks wages for every hissy fit he throws (he refused to be a sub in the Norwich game for instance)
  11. Contradiction in terms there Scott Who subsidises the government and pays for all its spending ? the taxpayer, you, me, everyone here so it is not going to be the government subsidising it would be the taxpayer with more than likely a sharp rise in income tax to pay for the absorbing of the nearly doubling in the price of wholesale gas this last year The way the government would soak up the costs in wholesale gas would be by putting tax up so no one would be any better off
  12. You will be tapping him up via the media before the end of the season and you know it :)
  13. Well judging by the fact you are online when you were meant to be starting work at 7am maybe you need to go back to plastering if the Argos job is finished ;) As for Keane well he was at Spurs 6 years so why does he supposedly want CL football so bad now whereas he didn't before ? the dippers have been following him for years if the reports are to be believed So you are saying Berbatov turned you down for 7 years if you were so desperate for him from 21 ?
  14. The government should introduce a "windfall tax" on the energy suppliers and give the proceeds to the elderly in the form of free gas and electricity bills in the winters
  15. Bent prefers playing upfront on his own, he was the lone striker at Charlton and just doesn't play well when he is with another striker, playing lone striker at Spurs with Modric, Dos Santos, Bentley, Arshavin and Bale pumping in balls for him is a nice thought
  16. And don't be so quick to write off Bent ;) He was amazing for Charlton, last season he was unlucky with injuries and had to spend time on the bench because Keane and Berbs were on fire but with a full season as lead striker and staying fully fit he would get 20+ goals for us in the premiership
  17. The point is though that Fergie and Arnesen both recognise his TALENT otherwise they would not have bid for him The 2 biggest club sides in the world atm both being after Dos Santos even if he was going to sit on their bench most of the first season shows that the guy has mega talent

Keep it as it is I reckon coupled with the closing/editing/deleting of $h!te like the Vengaboys topic if they are posted
  19. And your dislike of Dos Santos is pure sour grapes, might this be the reason perhaps ;) http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...n-Utd--Chelsea/ Dos Santos: I rejected United and Chelsea by Toby Davis, 30 June 2008 New Tottenham signing Giovani Dos Santos has revealed he turned down Manchester United and Chelsea to sign on the dotted line at White Hart Lane. The Mexican youngster was a summer signing from Barcelona in a deal which could rise to £8.6 million depending on appearances. The 19-year-old, who has been hailed as one of the brightest prospects in Europe, claimed he was not prepared to sit on the bench at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge. He told Mundo Deportivo: “My decision is purely sport. I wanted to play more and Tottenham gave me this opportunity. “I also had good offers from Chelsea, Manchester United and Ajax, but I loved Juande Ramos’ ideas. I am going to do great things with the Spurs." Dos Santos hopes to hit the ground running whent the new campaign kicks off in August and has backed himself to be a big hit in The Premier League. He added: "I want to be the star of The Premier League next season. That is my objective and the reason I have left Barcelona for Tottenham. "I believe that my style of play can be better in England than it is in Spain, but my first challenge will be to adapt to The Premier League. "The coach Juande Ramos has been key in this move. I spoke with him to know his intentions and I am very excited about this new adventure. "Juande has said that next season could be very big for Tottenham and that was a big attraction for me." The Mexican also confirmed that Spurs were keen on bringing his brother Jonathan to North London as part of the deal. He explained: “Yes (Tottenham wanted to sign my brother), but 'Jona' will stay in Barcelona . It will be a way to keep connected to the club, which has given me so much.”
  20. How do you explain Berbatov then ? if Spurs are so c**p why did he sign for them and why are you, Barca, Milan after him 2 years later ? has he suddenly become a great player in the last 2 years ? if so that must be down to great Spurs coaching ;) which is it ? why is Berbs getting the attention now that he wasn't 2 years ago if you reckon his only option was a "c**p" team like us ? Keane signed for a simple reason - MONEY, we will not go over £65k a week in wages, Liverpool offered him 90k, if Hull had offered him £100k he would have gone there, if another company offered you a 50% pay rise tomorrow you know and I know you would quit Argos in a flash
  21. We have Dos Santos who if last night and in Spain is anything to go by is going to be an absolute megastar Bentley having a medical in the morning for us and Arshavin has flown into London for talks so looks like 2 new signings for us soon
  22. People should leave religion at home when they go to school and that includes all forms of religious symbols, clothing, headwear and everything else, if they want to wear that stuff at home or in places of worship then fine but people go to school to learn and should leave religion at the gates
  23. I think that he will spend most of his time on your bench tbh Rafa pretty much plays Torres on his own upfront and the likes of Kuyt and Babel are fighting for a place too so I think Keano will either spend most of his time in midfield or on the bench You would have to change your system to accomodate Keane
  24. The big problem last season was Blobbo and he has gone now, there will be a massive recession of pie retailers in the N London area now We have replaced Blobbo with Gomes who is a MASSIVE upgrade in quality and a massive downgrade in terms of waistline
  25. I am not talking about people with long term problems I am talking by and large with young binge drinkers, people with alcohol addiction problems are not the ones I am referring to :)
