Why is racism by blacks treated differently to racism from whites ? Overnight the black American boxer Bernard Hopkins said in a press conference 5 times that no white man will ever win his belts as a dig towards Britain's Joe Calzaghe, no fuss was made about it, if Calzaghe had said 5 times that no black man will ever take his belts it would be the lead story on all news media, Gordon Brown would apologise to America, he would be hammered by the press as a racist and more than likely the police would be waiting for him at Heathrow when he landed from Vegas Why is it that racism by blacks is treated differently to racism from whites ? Racism is racism whether white, black or yellow :manson: :manson: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7133862.stm
  3. Huge double standards last night though :manson: :manson: American Bernard Hopkins insisted he "would never lose to a white person" when he came face-to-face with Joe Calzaghe in Las Vegas on Friday. Calzaghe, 35, beat Mikkel Kessler to become undisputed super-middleweight champion last month and is keen to fight Hopkins, 42, next year. And the pair almost came to blows at the MGM Grand ahead of Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather's weigh-in. "I would never let a white boy beat me," Hopkins said five times. "You can print that. I would never lose to a white person" If Calzaghe had said 5 times that he would never lose to a black man it would be classed as racism and he would probably be arrested for inciting racial hatred when he arrived back in Britain :manson:
  4. Hatton 2 pounds lighter than Mayweather Mayweather looks psychologically destroyed judging by the weigh in Turned his back on Hatton when Hatton stared right at him, edgy when he entered the arena and fiddling with clothing and so on, looks a rabbit trapped in headlights and I think that plays right into Hatton's hands Mayweather will come out swinging tomorrow and try and go for the quick early KO, Hatton will weather the early storm and the ageing Mayweather will be puffed put by the mid part of the fight and Hatton will take control and demolish him
  5. Of course they are as are all the other professions that I listed above, all of them deserve good money as all do a dangerous and essential job but they should still not be allowed to strike Anyone who is joining these professions joins them not because of the money but because they want to serve the public and do a public duty, a nurse for instance would earn a lot more money as a PA or secretary in some office but they go through years of training because they want to serve the public and help people so anyone joining these professions should do so out of public duty not out of financial gain and going on strike merely harms the public that they joined these professions to serve. Should they be paid more ? absolutely, should they be allowed to strike ? no
  6. The police are the most essential employees in this country, police go on strike the country would descend into anarchy and more than likely grind to a complete halt No emergency services should be allowed to strike - police, fire, ambulance, military, nurses, doctors and so on, it should be written into their contracts that they are not allowed to strike, not because they deserve to be exploited but because the security and safety of this country depends on them Police are well paid comparitively - a pc in London will get in the region of £28k a year and a sergeant up to around £40k a year and the police also offer subsidised housing for officers too so policemen are pretty well paid, well more than any of the other essential services The police go on strike it would be the biggest ever green light for Al Qaeda

ITV is about PROFIT, of course they are going to show ads, they have to to make more and more money for shareholders, BBC is not about profit so sponsorship would be quite sufficient, ITV could run without ads and still make money quite easily, but these ads are all about profit for ITV shareholders not fundraising
  8. The fire brigade "just" put out fires, the police strike it would be absolute anarchy on the streets, a complete crime and terrorism free for all
  9. Absolutely no circumstances whatsoever should the police be allowed to strike

  11. Staying up all night to watch it tomorrow night, can't wait B) Hatton will beat Mayweather in a late stoppage, Hatton's relentless style and youth compared with Mayweather gives him the edge for me Have £50 bet on this so Hatton better win lol
  12. You may not be racist but you are clearly as thick as 2 short planks This has NOTHING to do with minorities and EVERYTHING to do with WHITE middle class do gooders sticking their politically correct beaks into things that don't concern them and giving immigrants a bad name because of it

Suppose someone needs 2 prescriptions a week (£12 ?) and wage is £20k a year (£400 a week) before tax and after tax about £280 a week, are you seriously telling me someone can't afford £12 out of £280 ? as far as I am concerned anyone on that wage can if they prioritise, £20k is not wealthy but it is above national average wage £14,800 I believe it is. Make the cut off point £20k some will want it to be 30k, make it £30k some will say it should be 50k, can't please everyone

People have to budget according to what they can afford, if someone over 20k a year needs prescriptions then they should adjust their lifestyle accordingly to take account of that, drink less, cheaper holidays, smoke less, less restaurant visits or whatever, £20k a year is quite sufficient to live on in terms of being able to pay for prescriptions

I think a figure should be set of household income less than £20,000 p/a so there is no reasonable excuse why a family over 20k a year can't afford to pay for their own medicines. As for private medical insurance I do think that it should be compulsary for people over a certain income to pay for their own private health insurance, the NHS should be to me no more than a safety net for the poor and not a universal free for all, I would bring in tax breaks for the above average earners and wealthy people to take out private health insurance and just focus the NHS on providing a health safety net for the poor and the elderly The NHS in its present form is not economically viable and is too expensive so making healthcare free for only the poorest people is a much better long term solution both to the exchequer and the tax payer but also for the sick as less people would be treated at NHS hospitals so shorter waiting times

  21. Rihanna for me Shut Up And Drive was the best pop song of the year for me too, Umbrella drove me mad after a while but still a great song Worst - Westlife, haven't heard it yet but don't need to to know it is c**p

In terms of the BBC there would be no need for adverts Companies could pay money to sponsor programs and also product placement within programs and that would make enough money to heavily cut the licence fee For example instead of ads there would be at the opening credits and closing credits an announcement - Eastenders Bought To You By Cadburys, that could happen with every program, companies would pay a fortune to sponsor Eastenders, MOTD, SCD and so on and that would reduce the burden on the taxpayer and no need for ads

I am against the principle of free prescriptions I am in favour of them for the very poorest and the elderly but am against the idea of wealthy people and millionaires and high earning professional families getting free prescriptions, it should be the preserve of the very poorest and the shortfall in revenue from prescriptions going free will have to be made up from somewhere so old muggins here who pays 40% tax will pay even more so that millionaires can have free prescriptions, no thanks :) Free prescriptions should be means tested to make sure they go only to the very poorest who might otherwise shun healthcare because they can't afford prescriptions
  24. Yeah Kennedy was a decent man, so what if he had a drink problem, Winston Churchill couldn't stay sober for more than a few hours and he hardly did a bad job, Kennedy was the only leader if I recall that was against the Iraq war too, lib dems mess is purely of their own making because of their backstabbing ways Hash Brown has turned out to be an absolute disaster, I had quite high hopes for him but the lost cd's the dithering over the election, the Northern Rock fiasco, the donations scandal and so on have shown him up to be utterly useless
