  1. I don't think that 4 year olds are mature enough to be able to take in that sort of information Certainly when I was at school anything to do with sex be it discussion or whatever was a giggly thing among lads and that was even at aged 12 so I doubt a 4 year old has the mental capacity to absorb serious information
  2. It should apply to all people, workers, bosses, politicians and so on But seeing MP's with their noses in the trough or bankers awarding themselves multi million bonuses while frustrating doesn't give anyone a god given right to demand more money
  3. The main reason for the current rise in inflation is the cost of petrol, other things like stealth taxes and the credit crunch have also badly hit household income BUT big wage increases will make inflation and the general economic outlook even WORSE and affect EVERYONE because it will fuel inflation so instead of demanding big wage increases people should just tighten their belts financially and grit their teeth and accept a lower standard of living and live within their means until the economic outlook improves, demanding more money will simply make the whole situation worse because it will fuel inflation and lead to more and more job losses as companies absorb the cost of these wage increases People should forget about large pay rises and just cut their lifestyles back for a while
  4. Well if Tesco's do it then all the other supermarkets have to do it and Mr Patel's Mini Mart has to do it to prevent staff from leaving to work for Tescos and then other High St retailers have to do it both big and small in order to retain staff from jumping ship to Tescos and so on, a snowball effect is created which while a few of the big boys can sustain the family owned or small businesses in the High St can't
  5. Of course high wage increases fuel inflation Say a company when inflation is 3% gives its workers a 10% increase and that is repeated across most of industry where is the money going to come from ? money trees don't exist mate the money would come from the company having to increase prices and then it is the consumer who foots the bill for the price increases, high wage increases fuel inflation
  6. Yeah if Kimi doesn't do it I hope Massa does ^_^ I am a Ferrari supporter at heart and have been since the days of Gilles Villeneuve so to have my fave driver (Kimi) in my fave team is a dream come true Fingers crossed for Hamilton embarrassing himself again :D
  7. I will naturally be cheering on Kimi from the comfort of my armchair and plasma :cheer:
  8. Most 16-21 year olds live at home with their parents, why should they be paid the same as older people who have mortgages and so on, for a young person their wage is pretty much beer money they don't have mortgages they don't have household bills and so on, the minimum wage is about right so long as it is strictly enforced so people don't take the p*** like Clare's employer does etc
  9. McGregor did the right thing Part of the reason that Britain was in such deep $h!t under Callaghan and us going cap in hand to the IMF and such an unproductive economy was the government propping up lame duck industries with taxpayers money that could not financially support themselves, the likes of coal, tin, steel were riddled with lack of productivity, excessive prices, massive financial losses, archaic safety practices and so on and that badly needed to change Our coal under Callaghan was so expensive that large chunks of British industry were IMPORTING coal from the likes of Romania because it was cheaper to buy it abroad and ship it in than buy home grown coal, that is ridiculous under those circumstances to be propping up these lame duck industries with taxpayers cash, the gravy train for those industries hit the buffers and rightly so
  10. Something like 95% of all abuse occurs via a relative or close family friend of the child, the stereotype of a guy in a mac jumping out of a bush is a very rare concept there is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more danger from within a childs own family and family circle than there is from strangers, of course there are cases involving strangers but the number of children attacked or abused or murdered by strangers I would guess is lower than the number of adults or pensioners or whatever who are attacked or murdered
  11. Anyone in work in the Maggie era had never had it so good, low inflation benefits EVERYONE I don't understand how you can think creating the 4th most powerful economy in the world on a tiny island like this is not a massive achievement and economic success story
  12. LOL never done that  that is way out of my league, I much prefer role play (policewomen, nuns, military, prisoner/guard that kinda thing) which involved a degree of punishment, domination and submission with a particular fondness for being whipped, there was other things as well that tried such as waterboarding as those kinda things release chemicals into the body that offer the ultimate adrenelin rush etc, not for everyone's taste lol but that is definitely more my scene than ballbearings into the anus (never lol :o :o ) Dunno what kicked off my love of punishment, I think it is probably from my schooldays where I got caned a lot and tbh towards the end started liking it  LOL that place sounds good :D
  13. I am heavily into the BDSM scene and have been for some 20 years, it is a scene that many people in the country find abnormal and abhorrent but is a perfectly legal activity that is practiced by some 10% of the adult population of the UK, bit like homosexuality in a way given that is practiced by about 10% of adults in the UK, maybe the word "abnormal" was the wrong word more "non mainstream" would have been better, you and me are both participants in heavily minority activities. I don't need permission to be beaten and whipped, you don't need permission to carry out anal but I don't believe that my scene or your scene should be on tv or preached in schools as a mainstream activity, if homosexuality is taught about in schools then so should BDSM as as many if not more people in this country are into BDSM as are into homosexuality, the only thing that should be preached in schools as a mainstream activity and promoted is straight heterosexual sex between a man and a woman Russ for the record 1) Would you object if you saw scenes on tv involving people getting whipped and beaten ? 2) Do you consider BDSM to be "abnormal" ? 3) Do you think BDSM should be taught in schools given the BDSM scene in the UK is as big if not bigger than the gay scene
  14. I am in favour of gay marriages, I am in favour of homosexuality being a legal act, I am against discrimination of gays in the workplace, I believe in the concept of live and let live, I am fine with homosexuals carrying out what they want to carry out in the privacy of their own homes but I do NOT believe that homosexuality is a "normal" activity, I respect people's rights to do it if they so wish but I still feel uncomfortable with seeing guys hold hands in the street or kiss on TV and don't believe it should be preached in school as a regular mainstream activity I am not homophobic I believe in live and let live but just don't want to see people doing it or have schoolkids told that anything other that heterosexual sex is the norm Would people object if there was an ad about 2 people in BDSM scene ? should BDSM be taught in schools ?
  15. Everyone IN WORK did well out of Thatcher because she curbed hyper inflation Anyone who was in work during the Maggie era benefitted from inflation being curbed Those out of work did not do so well but like I said above, collateral damage, I could live with high unemployment if it meant low inflation
  16. This doesn't surprise me It is only in the last 5 or 10 years that homosexuality has become more acceptable among society and that is more with younger people whereas a lot of older people (50+ etc) it is still considered a vile and immoral practice, younger people I talk to accept homosexuality but 50+ people I talk to in general despise it so I am guessing the complaints will have come from the older generations, Alf Garnett is still alive and well in this country so it is going to take another 20-30 years before homosexuality is universally accepted in this country
  17.     Labour even more hated than BNP :o :o Brown should give up power and call an immediate general election, he is clinging to office when the public so clearly don't want him and doing even more damage to his party in the process (good that bit lol as longer tories will be in) but Britian has a prime minister that the public don't want and never voted for so he should call a general election
  18. No regime is going to have 100% success rate, there will always be winners and there will be losers, it is impossible to please 100% of the people and make them all wealthy so yeah some are always going to lose out but by conquering hyper inflation, by making Britian the 4th strongest economy in the world the number of winners compared with losers made it all worthwhile And you are looking at the very peak of the unemployment fiugures, when Maggie left power the figure was 1.3m which is roughly what it was when she gained power, remember the "Labour isn't working" banners with huge queues outside benefit offices from the 79 election ? unemployment was a Labour problem too More people did well under Maggie than would have done well had Labour got in again so yes increased unemployment v high inflation ? no contest, controlling inflation was of paramount importance
  19. It was for the greater good When Maggie took over in 1979 the country was the equivalent of a banana republic, rampant inflation, riddled with strikes, the economy in such a massive debt that we had to go cap in hand to the IMF for bailing out as if we were Chad or Congo and when Maggie left power we were the FOURTH most powerful economy in the WORLD now you can make any excuses you like mate but 3 million being put out of work to curb rampant inflation was the right thing to do, no consolation for those that ended up out of work but curbing inflation was the important thing and Maggie did that, mass unemployment was nothing more than collateral damage
  20. £23,000 and 15,000 up there isn't that bad though £23k in London or Reading or somewhere would be pitiful to live on let alone £15k but that sort of money in the North or Scotland is easy enough to live on as lower cost of living A civil servant in London should be paid way more than a civil servant in Scotland as the cost of living is so high in London I pay £900 a month rent for my 3 bedroom modest size garden property in Greater London, I could rent a 6 bedroom mansion for the same money in most of the north and scotland

  22. Mugabe is an evil and vile man but he is an African problem so any military action should be taken by an alliance of AFRICAN forces not us
  23. What do you suggest though can be done ? Sanctions against Mugabe won't work and are already in existence, he has syphoned billions out of the Zimbabwe economy into his own personal bank accounts so sanctions won't personally affect him so he will not care if his people starve I would personally start squeezing South Africa and Mbeki, Mbeki is Mugabe's big buddy in the region and one of those that is propping him up so maybe it is time we started using financial and economic pressure against South Africa until Mbeki withdraws support for Mugabe and forces him to go
  24. if it is the duet with Anastacia I thought it was a pretty good song especially Ana's singing Anything Westlife or Atomic Kitten have done in terms of cover versions is on a different level of badness to You Shook Me All Night Long
  25. Difference is though she killed sailors in cold blood (Belgrano) being enemy combatants they were fair game for me Blair and Bush sent in B52's to carpet bomb residential areas of Baghdad which was deliberately targeted at civillians whereas Belgrano was aimed at a military target Different level for me
