  1. Perhaps it's because Justin isn't particularly good at articulating himself. His lyrics aren't very sophisticated and he sounds childish and whiny. Shawn on the other hand is a much better songwriter even though he's (probably) singing about similar experiences.
  2. Songs about heartbreak are very different from "I was a bratty kid and no one likes me". People don't have time for rich entitled popstars and their problems. They want songs they can relate to and I think Justin moaning about it in his lyrics actually makes it worse, not the other way around.
  3. I really like this. It is very Midnight Sky meets Future Nostalgia. The video is fun too and really sells it. Smash pls!
  4. This isn't what I expected really. I like the vibe but the lyrics are very "woe is me". I don't know if that was Shawn's choice or Justin's but it is very Justin's thing at the moment. We deserved better plus would it kill them to be topless in the video? :kink:
  5. I'm not a fan of the shorter songs either. As a music fan you want to really ENJOY music and less than 3 minutes doesn't feel long enough for a song to flourish and be as truly special as you want it to be. I am looking forward to this and the Shawn/Justin collab. Combined with Gaga/Ariana, we've had a few BIG duets this year.
  6. Really excited about this. It's like a fan girl's (or a fan gay's) wet dream.

I can't remember who I voted for! I think there's quite a few of mine to come. There's a lot more rock/indie bands in this countdown than I expected.
  11. I didn't think any of the bands would stay together (except the winner.) None of them have been together for that long and there's no record contract incoming.

Thank you for your comment! The new Little Mix album is full of bangers and I love it.
  13. So happy this is Top 10  I thought it was all over after the Madonna version flopped.
  14. I was going to suggest Celeste. I really hope she gets a hit with the song from the John Lewis ad, it's beautiful.
  15. I didn't know he was going to be on Children In Need! So pleased this has finally gone Top 20 although it deserves better.
  16. I would have gone for 30-39k I think. I am glad that I would have been proved wrong.
  17. I am so pleased. #2 with those sales is amazing and so pleased to see Happiness (!) and Sweet Melody reach new peaks and Confetti nearly Top 20. A SMASH.
  18. How lovely of Mel C. She is of course right. Both albums are fab.
  19. I honestly thought it would be a one series thing but I guess they might want to find an act to support their next tour.

I respectfully disagree. CGYOOMH is one of the defining songs of the last 20 years. The song and video are iconic. SOTME was a big hit but it's not comparable. It remains to be seen whether any of Little Mix's songs will have the same lasting impact as CGYOOMH.

Also I missed voting in this but I would have probably said Kylie but with much lower sales than anticipated, with 'Say Something' and 'Sweet Melody' as my favourite tracks.

For what it's worth (and as a fan of both artists) CHYOOMH is absolutely a classic iconic hit and SOTME, despite being one of Little Mix's signature songs, is nowhere near it in terms of impact. It's obviously too soon to comment on long-term longevity as SOTME is still relatively recent. I agree that it's really difficult to compare hits from different eras though. The music industry has changed so much.
  23. Wow 'Sweet Melody' did THAT. I wonder if we'll all love it as much in a year's time!
  24. Such a fabulous album. Stunning. 10 Spotlight 10 What's Your Pleasure? 08 Ooh La La 09 Soul Control 11 Save a Kiss 08 Adore You 7.5 In Your Eyes 08 Step Into My Life 7.5 Read My Lips 08 Mirage (Don't Stop) 07 The Kill 08 Remember Where You Are
  25. Thanks Nick, I'll do it now.
