Although Breathe Slow is one of my least favourite Alesha tracks I actually see this being as big as TBDN. Before I knew it was a single I thought it'd do terrible but if it's good enough to get Top 40 a month before release and before all the promo kicks in I think it's good enough to go Top 10. By the time it's released I reckon all current popular tracks (Beyonce, Alexandra, Leona etc) will have fallen. She's also releasing on a week where there isn't much competition around.

Alesha has just told me she's 40+9 in the midweeks with Breathe Slow and 10+6 with TBDN.
  3. 26. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/albums.shtml
  4. Don't you think it's a bit too early to say ANYTHING? Why are people writing her off so early? It's only Tuesday and the chart position was based on ONE days sales.
  5. Why all the pessimism? Nobody expected TBDN to as well as it did so sales for the album could very well suprise us all. It's only Tuesday ... People thought Christina would be top 5 and out-do Alesha and they were proved wrong .... Top 20 would be a great achievement considering this is her first solo (UK) album release off the back of one single.
  6. Album is at 24 in the midweeks. I dont think thats bad. Its only Tuesday and iTunes hasn't been working properly and a lot of people don't get paid until Friday. Top 20 is achievable.
  7. I stayed up until gone midnight (despite having work at 5am) to download 'Don't Wanna Mess Around', the bonus album track on iTunes. It's freaking amazing! There's just something about it that I love. The lyrics are quite sad but it's really catchy and upbeat. A bit like 'Colours of the rainbow'. And the full version of 'Welcome To The Alesha Show' sounds like a bit of a 'Fired Up' reject track. The best thing about it is what was cut out for the intro.
  8. Alesha charted at number 5 :)
  9. Leona was 5 on Sunday with 10,000 copies seperating her and Alesha (number 8). Alesha has cleared those 10,000 in 4 days and is SO close to number 5 now :)
  10. 350 copies from number 5.
  11. You're in the minority there :P
  12. Just heard from Alesha. It's 10 in the midweeks. OMGGG!
  13. Number 5 on iTunes now :)
  14. Not too sure on the others. Don't think any of the Solange ones made the cut. 3 songs I heard Xmas just gone haven't made the cut either and they were amazing (I believe they were all Solange and not just 'Change' as I originally thought). This album is just on a whole other level of greatness. Not just saying it because I really like her either but I was pleasently suprised. Cant really see the appeal in Fired Up when you compare this album to it. 'Do You Know ...' is a very popular one with all the radios and the label, and it sounds so much better when it gets into it. Lots of emotion and her voice sounds great. I quite like the song anyway, more so than the others. They are planning the 2nd single already and there are tracks in mind but it's been sent back to radios to get their opinions on the track. I dont quite like the idea of the 2nd single being the ballady kind (Breathe Slow is in mind - as it's got great feedback) and I'd much rather her push another upbeat one. 'Play Me' (Xeno) and 'Lets Get Excited' are going to be my Alesha anthems ....
  15. I heard the entire album today. 8 of the tracks are Xenomania. Track 1 is more of an intro so realistically we have 14 tracks and every single one of them has single potential.
  16. R&J is going to be the new one moving to UK:TV Gold or something. That list isn't everything. It's what I have picked out from her diary. There is also a possible appearance on Jonathon Ross. It is yet to be confirmed but it's pencilled in her diary. There's lots of stuff but I only posted the things that fans can catch on tv or whatever ...
  17. 18. Digital download: 2 Nov (in store a week later) Album release: 24 Nov
  19. Eek, I did. Sorry. Edited it now. It's at number 5 now and has just passed 'Thriller' but is just behind Pink's 'So What'. Hopefully it will bump Britney off number 1.
  20. Well you're in the minority because it has jumped from 95 to 12 on the iTunes top 100 video list in the space of 4 hours ...

'Blackout' wasn't a flop. It sold quite well, especially considering she did no actual promo for it. If anything, the only thing that promoted that album was Britney turning $h!t-stir crazy and trying to build herself back up again. She may not be as popular as she was a few years ago but she can still shift enough copies to outsell a LOT of people in the UK charts. She's had 5 (almost 6, but GA kept her at number 2 with Gimme More) UK number 1's and in reality; people love a success story. She's getting herself together now and people will buy it to see her succeed. She has a massive following so she will never be a failure musically regardless of how good or c**p her music is. It still sells ...

Mis-Teeq were very well known and popular in the UK and even achieved moderate success in America. Alesha was the most popular member. I wouldn't call 'Lipstick' a flop - it missed the top 10 narrowly. Her 2nd single failed on her labels part because they only pressed 4000 copies of the single. Alesha left them, not the other way round. She took her album and released it in Japan. She started work on her new UK album which will be released shortly. In the meantime she had massive success in Japan and won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007. She's had labels fighting to sign her and she's recieved a lot of press over the past year. I think she stands a pretty good chance. From what I've seen a lot of people are hyped for her return ...

You had a very valid and interesting post until this ...

If not much has changed since last in terms of sales then Alesha could easily have sold out those 4000 copies that were pressed. 45 is nothing to brag about but if the label were behind her // pressed more singles then she will have got higher. And also, I'd much rather spend 2 quid on a single and have it stored on my cd rack than pay 1 quid and have a file on my computer which I could lose. I still think people would much rather buy in store than digitally.

It probably could have done better, but why should it have when the fans had already heard // had the track for a good year and half before? It was on the 5 track sampler and also on the Japanese promo release. I am not saying 99 copies will get you no where but 100 will get you to 75, but realistically it does not take a lot to get inside the top 75. If you look at the charts over the years there are some unheard of and quite frankly c**p songs that have got in. Not purposely bringing in comparisons but take a look at someone like Keisha White - I was a fan of hers, from way back; since she supported Mis-Teeq on tour. I was really into her, but in 2006 she released a song called 'I Choose Life'. I hadn't a clue it was being released and as a fan, if I didn't know then really ... would anyone else? It still got into the charts at 63. Alesha's promo schedule is gonna be hectic and she is being given some great shows to go on, and with her new fanbase I think something in the top 10 is achievable. Yes, there is a lot of competition and the song may not be everyone's taste but if you can get someone like Keisha into the top 75 with NO promotion and a small fanbase then Alesha can easily do well.
