Yeah, the Spanish fans are definitely the most passionate I've ever witnessed (which I love to be honest) and they were foaming at Zorra's result and Eaea's last year. I guess, similarly to the UK, you could say they're ungrateful seeing as Chanel came 3rd in 2022. I wouldn't see it that way myself though. How do I now look back on how this did? Disappointed. We made so much more effort this year than anything pre-Sam, not just phoned in as it was for much of the 2010s, so I think we have a right to be disappointed that the effort was met with a 0. In hindsight, was the performance probably offputting to many? Probably. And the song likely wasn't good enough to counteract that, in the way that it probably did for Bambie Thug, whose performance definitely riled up many, but also stunned its lovers. I don't know that Olly's song/vocals conjured up enough opposing support to the detractors. I still adore the staging though, I don't take that back, and it was easily one of the most impressive to see live. I still love the song, one of my favourites of the year. I can't believe it got ZERO, I could've been unsurprised at like 5 or 6, but it was a much better package than zero for sure.

Saw the jury show here in Malmo last night and Doomsday Blue is INCREDIBLE. I can't even @ the way I came to Malmo with this like 24th for me, and then last night, I nearly lost my voice for gasping and screaming. Every inch of the staging has been thought through with such precision, everything hits, slight tweaks to the live version make the ending feel so impactful. I- WE- I also felt Croatia as a winner of the whole thing for the first time, for sure, he's come a long way since the national final in terms of stage presence.

I think what this may well have on its side, which Mae NEVER had, was the jury appeal. There's quite a lot of ~quirky~ entries this year, and while Olly himself could be described as that to an extent, I think this will be a well performed, well sung, slick and polished, radio-friendly pop song.

Katy WAS much bigger though in the Teenage Dream era, than Dua was in the Future Nostalgia era. Obviously FN was big, but Katy herself was pretty much unavoidable and perhaps the biggest pop star around at that time. I think people have been over-doing how huge Dua was, and how much of it was just the material being so good that it connected so well. Dance The Night sat outside the top 10 for weeks until the Barbie movie came out. So, I think that’s why I think people’s expectations have been skewed too highly from the beginning.

FAVE 5: Sapphira, Nymphia, Morphine, Mh'iya & Plasma LIKED: Everyone but Q DIDN'T LIKE: Q (but I recognise that having people I don't enjoy also makes great TV and Q was an integral part to some of this seasons' entertainment) SCORE: 8/10 FAVE: Sapphira Cristal COMPARED TO SEASON 15: I liked it more, for sure, much less filler / those who were "filler" at least felt like they had their moment to shine/character fleshed out. The only thing I'd change is that the series just still feels so long that, even with it being an AMAZING season, I still started to fatigue towards the end. Personally, the length of Season 12 felt perfect. 12 queens, 14 episodes. They could've easily lost one design challenge and the "corporate queens" challenge this time imo. And I think that'd have taken it up to a ~9.

I mean, I do think Good Luck Babe is an amazing song (and possibly her best) BUT I think the answer to this is timing. Her star has been growing and growing, so I think the new one blowing up as quickly as it is definitely has something to do with her star finally reaching the stage where she's ready to smash, where songs like Red Wine Supernova were responsible for building that hype in the first place.
