England World Cup 2010 Squad
Oh I completely agree, as I've said before on form I would not pick him in the starting XI v the USA, but by that criteria Emilie Heskey should not even be allowed into South Africa in the first place! As for this season: He was injured in pre-season July which badly impacted on his pre-season conditioning; got injured again in October; and has struggled with a niggly groin injury throughout the season which requires rest to fully recover. However during the 2008-9 season: He won FWA Footballer of the Year: 2008–09; PFA Fans' Player of the Year: 2008–09; PFA Team of the Year: 2008–09; FA Premier League Player of the Month: March 2009; FIFA/FIFPro World XI: 2009; Ballon d'Or 10th; FIFA World Player of the Year 8th. .... Oh and of course the fact Liberpool did not have an Alonso or Barry to supply through balls to him did not help. But I said all I had to say on that matter last August.......

Agree on both points. It annoys me when Rafa gets trashed in the media & by other football fans for losing Alonso. After all who would not want to join the club they supported as a kid; and all Liverpool fans knew Alonso was going in his last season, but we were not worried (at the time) because we knew we were going to get Gareth Barry as a replacement. But then after Liverpool had met the asking the price; "Father" O'Neill went and bloody raised at, to stitch Liverpool right up to get in the Manchester United faithful's good books.. as most football fans know that O'Neill coveats the job at Old Trafford after SAF.

England World Cup 2010 Squad
What a load of bollox. Yeah of course he was fukkin $hit in Istanbul; and against West Ham in the FA Cup Final when he won MotM in both. In my book it was a national disgrace he was not appointed captain as successor to David Beckham. But the Wally with a Brolly of course had other ideas didn't he.

England World Cup 2010 Squad
... All Thanks to Emilie "can't hit a barn door with a banjo" Heskey:  Friday, 4 June 2010 17:03 UK E-mail this to a friend Printable version World Cup 2010: Rio Ferdinand 'out of England squad' England captain Rio Ferdinand looks likely to be ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a knee injury in training. The 31-year-old centre-back had a scan after hurting his left knee in a challenge with striker Emile Heskey during Friday's first training session. Ferdinand is seeking a second opinion, but a Football Association source has told the BBC "it's not looking good". The FA is due to confirm the seriousness of Ferdinand's injury later in a statement. Ferdinand emerged from hospital on crutches and Tottenham's Michael Dawson, who has been put on standby, could fly to South Africa in the next 12 hours if the Manchester United defender is definitely ruled out. If Ferdinand is out, Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will step into the captain's role to lead the side at the World Cup. The news could be a devastating end to an already disappointing season for Ferdinand, who, because of a back injury, had been restricted to only 13 Premier League starts for Manchester United and 21 appearances overall. He had appeared to have overcome his injury problems as he trained with no setbacks at England's two-week World Cup training camp in Austria and came through the recent friendly victories over Mexico and Japan. But Ferdinand sustained yet another injury at the end of England's first training session since arriving in South Africa, leaving manager Fabio Capello to break the news in a press conference. "The bad news is in the last moment of the training, Rio suffered a problem with the knee," said Capello. "It was a normal tackle. He turned and then he had a problem. He has gone to hospital and we will have to wait for the scan." Should a player be ruled out of the World Cup more than 24 hours before the kick-off of their first match, a replacement can be drafted into the 23-man squad. This happened in 2002 when England midfielder Danny Murphy broke a bone in his foot and Trevor Sinclair was called up. However, if a player is injured during the course of the tournament, a replacement cannot be brought in. England begin their World Cup campaign with their game against the United States on 12 June. Dawson was the only centre-back dropped by Capello when he trimmed his 30-man training squad to the 23 for the tournament. Friday had started on a more positive note for England, with the news that midfielder Gareth Barry - who had been a major doubt after suffering an ankle injury towards the end of Manchester City's season - trained with the squad. "Gareth Barry is improving every day," said the England boss. "In the afternoon he is training in the gym with the physio and in the morning always with the team. "He is not completely training with the team as we have to be very careful." Meanwhile, goalkeeper David James sat out the training session after suffering a slight knee problem. His injury is not thought to be too severe and is related to the 11-hour overnight flight from London to South Africa on Thursday.

The very fact he is almost certainly going to be installed as the new Inter Milan boss should tell you how highly regarded he is internationally as a manager. The bottom line was that his net expenditure was minimal compared to Man City; Spurs; & Chelsea. Little wonder Liverpool are going backwards as they were bought with Bank Loans which debt the club has to pay off to the rate of £40m+ a year. Add to that the audit of the club recently showed that those two robbing Yanks have take out an additional £75m from the club (for their own use to refinance their US Sporting clubs), and it is clear that Rafa's has had as much chance as succeeding as one hand trying to clap. I'm very sad to Rafa is gone, because he was doing a fantastic job restructuring the near non existence LFC Academy. Euro U-17 winners Andre Wisdom & Connor Coady are the future Jamie Carragher & Stevie G. Whilst Liverpool's current Youth Academy possess a further 19 U16 & U17 internationals a far cry from the recent Stevie Heighway days. So the future that Rafa was putting together was looking very good indeed. I just hope King Kenny hangs around whilst we try to get Guus Hiddink (but we'll probably end up with Mark Hughes; Martin O'Neill or Roy Hodgson ... if we are lucky) as manager. Unless the thieving Yanks go in the summer, and Liverpool are bought up by a billionaire Middle East franchise or an offshoot of the Chinese Government then I it will be a massive achievement for Liverpool to qualify for the UEFA Cup at the end of 2010-11. I fully expect Stevie G & Fernando to be sold in the summer, so Liverpool are screwed. If their are any Manchester United fans gloating .... Remember your club is next for the sharp decline. Because SAF will be able to spend just as much after they sell Wayne Rooney for £90 million as they have since selling C. Ronaldo.

Hopefully Chris Stone & Paul Burling go through. To be honest The Arrangement left me underwhelmed this time around as the performance came across as too gimmicky for my own liking. However, I fear if they are in the 2nd + 3rd place vote off they will get through.

McCartney Rocks Library of Congress
McCartney Rocks Library of Congress By Rolling Stone Jun 02, 2010 11:56 AM EDT Reporting by Jonathan L. Fischer. As a run-up to receiving the Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize for Popular Song later today, Paul McCartney warmed up with an intimate performance of Beatles classics ("Yesterday," "Blackbird") last night at the Library's Coolidge Auditorium. The former Beatle was joined by guests including Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Jack White, and Dave Grohl along with Jerry Seinfeld (who will serve as MC at today's event), Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress, the Washington Post reports. McCartney seemed jovial throughout the event, telling the crowd, "I like informal gatherings like this." Late yesterday afternoon, McCartney told the press he was touched by the award. "It's fantastic for me to be here," he said, "because as a kid, I grew up listening to the music of the Gershwin brothers and loved it and had no idea of course that one day I might be in such a place getting an honor such as this." McCartney also showed his support for President Obama, saying at one point, "I must say I'm a big fan, he's a great guy. So lay off him. He's doing great." The assembled press, who did not shy away from asking McCartney for an occasional autograph, also took the opportunity to pose more difficult questions to Macca, even asking the rock icon to offer his thoughts on the BP disaster. But McCartney, ever the British gentleman, was careful not to say anything too controversial. "I'm not a politician, I wouldn't know," he said of the spill. "I think it's terrible but it's too big a question for me to answer." Another award for The Beatle legend. Great or not?

McCartney: 'Drugs made Beatles stretch'
You can just hear it in the development of their music. For example MacCa was not taken LSD at the time of the Revolver album when George & John were, and it shows in the material ..... Come Sgt Peppers and that is a different story.
