From Keith Badman's The Beatles After The Break-Up (A day to day diary): Entry Tuesday, June 1st 1971: The BBC announces that the Ram album track "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is banned with immediate effect due to the use of the word "bloody". Although music critics think the sentiments of the lyrics mocking British authority figures, after a campaign by the national newspaper "The Daily Mail" may have influenced the decision. This ban was not overturned until 1975. Furthermore, in my copy of 30 Years of NME Album Charts also makes reference to the track's banning in the commentary written by Michael Gray underneath the June 1971 album charts.

I have to agree. I'm very surprised nothing was made by the Racing Stewards of Button's backing up behind the Safety Car. I can't help but think had it been his McLaren team mate it would be a different story entirely. A great race, and as a McLaren fan I'm not unhappy with the outcome.

Mmmmm, 3 episodes in and I think I can (sadly) safely say that the shark has been jumped. A very promising start to the episode, that just like (that immoral womanising thug - yes I've been keeping an eye on ESPN Spurs v Chelski) John Terry this season promised much, but badly fell apart in the second half. I don't know whether to laugh or groan at the new Daleks = new BMW Mini's rip offs with their coloured schemes. But it is becoming massively clear that whilst the writing is as good or better than the previous 4 series; the direction and pacing of the episodes is sadly inferior to the RTD years. 5/10

Yet it beat B.o.B ft Hayley Williams & She & Him in a weekly popularity contest on a very popular Radio 2 show. It can't be that uncommercial. As unlike Florence Welch's usual sub-Siouxsie Dallion/Kate Bush wailings she actually sings on the track for a change as legendary Talking Heads writer David Byrne told her to just "fukkin sing the bloody song" when recording the track, hence her unusually pure sounding vocal, superior to anything on her very overrated first album. FFS it is the title track from this fantastic critically acclaimed concept album about the life of Imelda Marcus which also features such BJ unfriendly artists such as Sia; Roisin Murphy; Martha Wainwright; Tori Amos; Santigold; Cyndi Lauper; Camille; Candie Payne & Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond).
