Tuesday, 8 June 2010 20:50 UK Rafael Benitez agrees to become Inter Milan coach BBC Sports News Inter Milan have announced that former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has agreed to become the club's new coach. "We've got an agreement, we finalised the last details that in any case weren't important," Inter president Massimo Moratti told ANSA news agency. Moratti said Benitez would be presented as the new coach on Tuesday, adding: "All we need is a counter-signature." Benitez, 50, left Liverpool last week after six years at Anfield and will succeed Jose Mourinho at the San Siro. The Spaniard has a strong track record in European football, having won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 and the Uefa Cup with Valencia in 2004. But he would have big shoes to fill at Inter, with Mourinho winning the league in both seasons he was at the club, not to mention securing the Champions League and Italian Cup last season. And before Mourinho's spell at the club, Inter won three consecutive titles under Manchester City's current manager Roberto Mancini. Towards the end of last season, Benitez was strongly linked with a move to Inter's rivals Juventus, but since his departure from Anfield he became the subject of speculation suggesting a move to the San Siro was imminent. Even Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano, one of his former players at Liverpool, suggested that the Spaniard would be the ideal fit for Inter. "Only Benitez could take the place of a coach like Mourinho," said Mascherano. "He is a great coach. He has charisma, personality, a winning mentality. "Moreover, he will find himself brilliantly in Italy because of the tactical game. Rafa studies everything on the table and directs the team from the bench like an orchestra conductor. "After Mourinho, he is the only man capable of continuing Inter's winning run."
  6. Right now: BBC 6 Music iPlayer: The David Bowie Story: Part 1 of 6: This episode looks at Bowie's beginnings in the music industry. This is music history that most X-Factor/Cheryl Cole/Miley Cyrus/The Saturdays loving fans are growing up completely ignorant of because programmes like this are never produced and played on Radio 1.

A contender for the worst episode since Episode 2 IMHO. Poor/silly plot lines; and not very good song choices/performances.

  13. RIP. This is incredibly sad news. Very upsetting to read this having met him outside a soundcheck at a gig in Southampton in (I think 2001) when Turin Brakes were the support act. He came across as a really unprentious regular guy who chatted with me & a mate for a good 3-5 minutes.. Why is it that the larger than life characters are always the ones to die early. Former Crowded House drummer Paul Hester & now Stuart Cable are probably the two friendliest musicians (of a relatively limited number) that I have ever met; and now both are dead. Sad times.
  14. Lastly ...... The Top 10 Finishes Game 2010 only this year it is based on Points score per Top 10 finish each week (1st = 10 Pts; 2nd = 9 Pts ..... down to 10th = 1 Pt; but all ties count as the same points as position finished so no shared points (i.e. Two players tie for 3rd place one week each score 8 Points) After 23 Weeks: 1 1 spiidey 147 2 2 thisispop 109 3 2 Ben 108 4 4 JakeyShake 63 5 5 AdzBrown 61 5 5 Aaron 61 5 7 Jester 61 8 8 FM11 58 9 9 titty 52 10 10 West 51 11 10 BrayFish 48 12 12 jackph89 42 12 13 ElectroBoy 42 14 14 TomKay 37 15 14 eightiespopkid 36 16 16 Theo 33 17 17 soundseekerz 30 18 17 mark w 26 19 19 Hitstastic 24 20 20 zero 23 21 21 madonna-4-eva 22 22 22 mancdude 17 23 23 Gboy 15 24 24 Mikey 14 24 24 Come Along 14 26 26 Kay 13 27 27 paulgilb 12 27 27 Tacticz 12 29 29 the-equalizer 11 30 30 NoiseAddict 10 30 30 WillR0173 10 30 30 Gleek! 10 30 33 Nick F1 10 34 34 superbossanova 7 35 35 basdfg 6 36 36 chart wizard 4 37 37 Ditherless 3 38 38 Pavel 2 38 38 Shoat 2 40 40 gagafan 1 Significant developments: Spiidey lead falls to 38 points; I move 1 point ahead of Ben in 2nd; Jester draws level with AdzBrown & Aaron for 5th. Elsewhere ElectroBoy climbs 1 to 12th & Nick F1 climbs 3 to 30th. Thanks all for playing in this week, I'll see you next week to see what damage the 2010 Football World Cup does to the chart. Especially that horrendous Dizzee Rascal & James Corden massacre of the 1980s Tears For Fears classic. This is how that song should sound: 0bqgy1mebh8 Otherwise I'll be willing Tinie Tempah to be #1; would love to see the brilliant Austrialian Dance track by D Cup & Yolanda Be Cool reach the Top 40; and wonder whether the Glee Cast can score another Top 40 hit (or two) in the Series' penultimate episode (which I'm sure is a relief to those of you who are not fans of the show!). Whilst sorting out my World Cup Fantasy Football Teams/Predictions and getting excited about the Tournament until England lose 2-1 versus the USA on Saturday evening.

Indeed. And he could get advice off of Steven Gerrard as to getting a Not Guilty verdict in a serious Court case. Watch the Horse Racing at Aintrie; and get property advice off of Robbie Fowler; etc. But on a serious note, if Tottenham Hotspur are so brilliant, then why did he turn down an extension on his contract that the Spurs board offered him last season?
  18. Reasons why The Dail Mail is an utterly vile paper part 112,327: Actually, Israel wasn’t tough enough Sunday Mail Editorial 6th June 2010 One minute we’re all lined up against Islamic terrorists and the Iranian regime’s wicked manipulations. The next, we’re all suddenly swallowing the propaganda of Islamist terror sympathisers and Iran’s nasty clients. Israel’s assault on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara was a textbook example of incompetence. These people are not as brilliant as they like to claim. The ship, despite its supercargo of PC, anti-Israel, Left-wing suckers, dupes and sandal-wearers, was also seething with militant and far-from-pacifist full-time Israel-haters. If the Mossad secret service types had lived up to their legend, they would have known this. So why lower troops, one by one, into the midst of a mob of foes? Why equip them with feeble paintball guns, shroud their hands in gloves so they can’t reach their sidearms, and order them not to open fire until things get out of hand? They did this because the Israeli military let their civilised, law-governed instincts get the better of sensible cynicism. The gullibility of the reporting on this issue defies belief. This wasn’t a humanitarian convoy. The Israelis were quite willing to send on the supplies, after searching them for contraband. Masses of humanitarian supplies get through from Israel to Gaza all the time, though you wouldn’t think it to listen to the BBC. And Egypt’s Gaza border is even more restricted than Israel’s, which rather contradicts the propaganda. The people on the ships weren’t ‘activists’ but campaigners against Israel, intent on provoking a clash (I wonder if the enemies of the Jewish state, now parading their outrage all over the place, would have been more pleased, or less pleased, if nobody had died in this event?). As for poor Gaza, who really cares about its people, pawns in a savage game since 1948? The Israelis have not behaved well, and should never have seized Gaza from Egypt (which occupied the Strip illegally from 1948 to 1967, without anyone protesting). But the Iranian-backed fanatics of Hamas are far more interested in the destruction of Israel than they are in the welfare of the Gazans. And it is the cause of Iran and of Hamas that has been helped by Western public opinion in the past few days. -------------------------------------------------

Betfair.com Next Liverpool Manager (Yesterday's odds in brackets) Roy Hodgson 11/5 (3/1) Harry Redknapp 5/2 (25/1) Martin O'Neill 9/2 (5/2) Kenny Dalglish 5/1 (4/1) Sven Goran Eriksson 12/1 (9/1) Mark Hughes 22/1 (6/1) Jurgen Klinsmann 30/1 (14/1) Guus Hiddink 40/1 (12/1) .... Interesting stuff. Still the body language of Rest Of The World manager Kenny Dalglish & England manager Harry Rednapp for the UNICEF Game on ITV at the moment are very telling ....... doing a very good impression of Cameron & Clegg IMHO.
  20. To be fair to James Corden, he was brilliant in the Alan Bennett play (& TV movie) The History Boys; he was very good in Fat Friends; clearly wrote a lot of the good sketches in the first two series of the Catherine Tate show (with Ruth Jones), as series 3 when they stopped writing for her to create Gavin & Stacey was nowhere near as good. Whilst the first two series of Gavin & Stacey were great ..... but like a lot of comedy series, Series 3 was definitely their Be Here Now in quality terms. ...... But as for co-hosting Big Brother's Big Mouth = awful after the genius that is Russell Brand; co-presented the Brit Awards; hosting the Sky One comedy/sports panel show A League of Their Own; the so called Comedy series (without anything funny in it) Horne and Corden & the ghastly film Lesbian Vampire Killers :manson: Also hearing he is hosting James Corden's World Cup Live every evening during the 2010 FIFA World Cup for ITV; leaves me fearing it will be every bit as appalling compared to Skinner & Baddiel's legendary Fantasy Football franchise; as his massacre of the Tears For Fears 1985 USA#1 chart topper is. When you compare that to Ruth Jones penned 2009's critically acclaimed comedy Xmas pilot showing of "A Child's Christmases in Wales", then one starts to wonder if talent wise James Corden was the Andrew Ridgeley to Ruth Jones' George Michael .....
  21. Which is why had the BBC taken up Katie Melua's offer and sent the subsequent hit all over Europe "The Flood" we would have easily finished Top 10 (and probably Top 5). Although no doubt Russ living in cloud cuckoo land would think we would have finished last because everybody hates the UK don't they especially now we've elected a Conservative Government?
  22. Why don't you do this site a favour and f*** OFF instead of talking complete and utter bolloxs. Using your logic, then the crappiest band of all time is The Beatles; and the crappiest act right now in the world is Lady GaGa. Oh and therefore Jobrieth must be better than David Bowie because he sold a lot less records. Oh, and if you had bothered to read other threads on this site or in this forum, you would know that I don't actually like the song that won as it sounds like a Katy Brand parody of Lily Allen & Kate Nash. But from the draw for the Final; the fact it sounded very different to any other song in the contest; and its popularity across Europe then it was fairly obvious it was going to do well (even though I personally expected it to finish 4th). But if you think (like Pete Waterman) that Germany won purely on the basis that the country was bailing out Europe then you are a complete and utter moron who should be reading the Daily Mail.

Very sad news. They mentioned the sad news on the Finale of I'm In A Rock'n'Roll Band last night. Ive always been a big fan of the Fretless bass. So I'll post a clip of Mick Karn in action (and what a backing band this British female singer has got): LzDPmvJu6eE
  24. Russ = Your ignorant posts on this subject of a song that has gone Top 10 in every country in Europe bar the UK & France is on an arrogance on a par with Pete Waterman. I suppose you agree as well with Pete Waterman that the reason the UK came last was because they have elected a Conservative eurosceptic Goverment which makes us unpopular with Europe; and not because in a tweet this week by Graham Norton we sent a song that belonged to a PWL shelf "filed: Jason Donovan rejects (1988)". FUKKIN' PRAT!
  25. TIPs Chart Singles Prediction Game - Chart Sunday 13th June 2010 :cheer: :yahoo:  :cheer: WEEK 24 IN 2010!!! Each week I will ask you to predict where 14 songs are (hopefully) going to be in the following Sunday's chart. The point scoring will be as before (10 pts if spot on with your prediction down to 1 pt if you are 9 positions out. A 75+ prediction if correct will still be worth 5 Points). If a new single is pulled from release or non-chart eligible then everyone's prediction for that question will be void and everyone will be awarded 5 points. Due to physical singles sales declining I have scrapped the old rule of awarding points should the physical release be postponed so long as the download release goes ahead as scheduled. I will ask THREE bonus questions which require a Yes or No answer. Each bonus question is worth 20 Pts. Therefore for a normal week there will be a maximum of 200 Points to gain. PREDICT THE FOLLOWING : Sales Period: Sunday 6th – Saturday 12th June B.o.B ft Hayley Williams - Airplanes Christina Aguilera ft Nicki Minaj – Woohoo D Cup & Yolanda Be Cool - We No Speak Americano Dizzee Rascal & James Corden – Shout For England (out Wed 9th) England / New Order – World In Motion Giggs - Look What The Cat Dragged In Glee Cast – Another One Bites The Dust Glee Cast – Good Vibrations Ke$ha – Your Love Is My Drug Lena - Satellite Miley Cyrus – Can’t Be Tamed Pixie Lott – Turn It Up Shakira ft Freshlyground – Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) Tinie Tempah ft Labrinth – Frisky Bonus #1: Will Iyaz - Solo be higher than K'naan - Wavin' Flag in the chart? You have up until circa 09:00 UK Time on Tuesday 8th June to get your entries in (I'll be keeping the thread open) but entries altered after the midweeks have arrived will be excluded. Each Game counts towards the Overall Leaderboard (The Best 48 Games) at the end of the year. Whilst I will maintain the last 6 weeks Leaderboard for newer players If you have never played before, then here is a great opportunity to join in the fun near the beginning of 2010! :cheer:
