  1. Um, y'might want to look at what forum this is. I don't go in the Delta Goodrem forum because she's $h!t... and I'm allowed to say that here because it's the Girls Aloud forum (which I visit because, shock, I like them).
  2. I'll let you know tonight if I get it. I'm pretty sure it's got Dirty Pretty Things on it, they were going on about it being their first time on record.

    DEATH.
  4. I believe they had a song called 'You Suffer' that was allegedly a second long, but I haven't heard it. I know for a fact (as in, I've heard it) that they had one called 'Dead' that was three seconds.
  5. Me. ;)
  6. Most reviews in Q are a waste of the journo's time... they're certainly a waste of our time reading them.
  7. I might do, I'll have to wait to hear another single though because I hate 'Nature's Law'.
  8. Not my usual sort of thing, but I love this song.
  9. Fair 'nuff... guess we'll see how it goes, I'm working until 8 tonight (12 hour day, anyone?) so I might not be online before that - guess we'll see each other online at some point over the next few days.
  10. Cheers mate, I was intending to chat to you about that tonight if you're on MSN...

...and absolutely not to be confused with the (equally fabulous) Welsh indie band whose name is pronounced the same but begins with a C. ;)
  12. Everyone loves Atari Teenage Riot... and if they think they don't, they're wrong.

What are people's opinions on Co&Ca, random emo-prog-metal-weirdness merchants extraordinaire? I reckon their albums have got progressively better - 'Second Stage Turbine Blade' had some awesome songs but a couple of duff ones, 'In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3' was all good, while the newest (and possibly most preposterously title album in living memory) 'Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness' is just phenomenal from start to finish. I wonder how Claudio manages to sing like that though... big bloke with a scary beard and giant 'fro, yet he sounds like Joe Pasquale.
  14. Finally, the new album from the muchly under-rated Hundred Reasons is here. And guess what? It's great. I never quite understood why they got dropped by Sony, it's not like they ever did particularly badly within their genre... admittedly their second album was a tad shady in places, but yeah - after Colin got back from faffing around with The Lucky Nine (who are also great, by the way...) V2 picked them up and they're most definitely back on form.
  15. I can't think of a better way to explain things, so let's have a sort of FAQ... but ignore the fact that these questions aren't really 'frequently asked/answered'. Feel free to pitch in at any time... Why a separate forum? Couldn't this have stayed a part of the original rock/indie forum? Well, yeah, it probably could have, but general concensus is that they're different enough to warrant splitting up. I've seen it work well on other forums and I'm hoping to make it work well on here. Given that the style is something of a trend at the moment, I think it'll do well for the site. What belongs in here? The original premise for the forum was 'emo/punk/metal', so I think that's a fair way to go about it. I was asked earlier for a list of vaguely relevant bands which I produced off the top of my head in a few seconds... see below: Obviously that isn't an exhaustive list, merely a vague guideline as to the sort of thing I originally intended it for. Who's Jono? ...because someone's bound to ask. As my colleague is also called John, I'd best stick to calling myself Jono to save confusion. Those of you who know me from elsewhere will already know that I've devoted a lot of time to rescuing a dying rock section on another site and, well, you're what I'd consider mates anyway so this isn't really aimed at you; if you don't know me, I'm a nice bloke and I have a very wide-ranging taste in music but I tend to specialise in the stuff that this forum is made for. You'll get to know me in time. ;) Anything else you want to know, just ask me or my esteemed colleague Disposable Hero. B)

Good plan dude, I'm on it.
  17. Fresh from providing 'Her Portrait In Black' for the soundtrack to Underworld: Evolution, Atreyu's new album 'A Death-Grip On Yesterday' is out this week. I'd call it something of a lesson in brevity - they only need 33 minutes and nine tracks to get the message across. That might sound like pretty crap value for money, but it's well worth it - the version I got comes with a DVD featuring masses of stuff. So yeah, if you're a fan of these guys, or metalcore in general, you should probably be checking this out. If you're unsure, there's a track on the CD that comes with the latest issue of Rock Sound.

I was tempted to go to bed, but now I'm slightly more tempted to start posting in here... Hmm... post a lot or get sacked for falling asleep at my desk..? ...go to bed and post a lot from work tomorrow!

Wooooo, first post! Cheers Phil! :cheer:

It is absolutely the most confusing film I've ever seen. I've seen it twice and it made no more sense the second time... and reading that explanation hasn't really cleared it up much either. That said, I'm really tired (running on about 3 hours sleep) and my brain isn't working properly. So... ya.
  22. Can I be really picky and point out that James was a band (the singer was called Tim, incidentally)?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this... I went off them a lot but now they're not being rammed down our throats every few seconds I'll probably be fine with it. I saw them at the V Festival a couple of years ago, and I'll be seeing them again at V this year.
  24. Am I the only person that thinks nobody outside of this country would understand them? I think a lot of their appeal lies in the lyrics, because we understand their slang and in-jokes... I don't think it'd have the same effect on America or Australia.
  25. True... but fans of The Who are much more pleasant to deal with than a load of NME-licking Arctic Monkeys fans. ...and before anyone says anything, yes, I know I like the Arctic Monkeys but I don't have to like the people who just brown-nose them because they're the latest NME w@nk fodder.
