The Darkness reform.
I know we've had debates about Axl/GNR before, but I can point you to several very active forums - more active than Buzzjack even - where Axl is reveered as an artist. The GNR forums are actually a very interesting read, between Slash-ites and Axl-ites...I personally think Axl gets a biased press, and the reasons for that date back to the early 90s, but that's another argument for another day. Essentially my point is that the lines between total arsehole and rockstar are blurry and often crossed.

Your rankings of 2011 songs
Blue were at no point 'hugely popular' in Europe, they only ever had a modicum of success outside of the UK, and even that was fleeting. Only current UK bands that are 'hugely popular' in Europe are Muse, Take That and Iron Maiden. And none of them are gonna do Eurovision anytime soon.

Within Temptation - The Unforgiving
I'm listening to it on YouTube atm, so far not a dud track and I'm halfway through!

iTunes Chart: March 2011 (III)
Really hope Wheatus can make the Top 40 again, that tune was such an anthem when I was younger. Also was my first introduction to Iron Maiden! :D

The Darkness reform.
Haha that's so true, my local Gamestop has loads of copies of it as well. Real flash in the pan successes. However, I'm oddly looking forward to this...they were fun, no two ways about it. And Justin Hawkins could rival Jim Gillette of Nitro in the falsetto stakes.

Slipknot Over??
They must have been such a tight-knit band...I'm not a huge fan but into some of their stuff, I did think they would continue. One has to wonder why they're doing live shows though if they're not going to record a new album? Unless of course this is Corey already making excuses for his announcement as the new Velvet Revolver vocalist...

New Release Schedule (March 6)
Er, hang on, why is Slash's album on the March 6th new release schedule? It was released in January 2010! Re-release/re-package?

Yeah, but I was never a big Motley Crue fan yet I love Sixx: AM. Their first album was a breath of fresh air in a stagnant hard-rock genre. A lot less cheesier than Motley Crue and with none of the glam image, but plenty of the same infectious rock grooves.

Just had to highlight this gem here...if anybody likes melodic hard-rock (in the vein of bands like Guns N' Roses), I very highly recommend checking this beauty out.

iTunes Chart: March 2011
I remain convinced as well that Within Temptation have all the necessary ingredients to be successful on the singles chart. They're just never promoted at all in the UK. Album is released on 28th March, listen to the lead single and tell me it doesn't have a brilliant Top 40 hook: jDJpf2mQ0w4

Disappointing to see the Foos falling, but a Top 20 hit is still a good return for a song with zero promotion, very little radio play and in a chart that has a notable lack of rock music.

iTunes Chart: February [III]
I think the Foo Fighters going Top 10 is definitely achievable. Especially the way rock fans tend to download - if there's already momentum behind a song, we'll tend to download it just to give it a push. I wasn't planning on downloading it - like the song, but it's available for free streaming and I'll be getting the album on day one anyway - but if it pushes a rock song into a stagnant R&B dominated top 10, I'll gladly spend less than a quid to help it on the way.

Nah, wouldn't call anything by Biffy hard-rock - it's heavier than most rock in the charts, but not 'hard-rock' all the same. And yeah, KITN as well of course counts, although that wasn't a new song and was part of a campaign.

iTunes Chart: February [III]
Great to see Foo Fighters doing so well, been a while since a harder rock song made the charts - Metallica, AC/DC and Guns N' Roses back in 2008 I think! 'Rope' is really growing on me as well, first thought it was a bit average, but it's actually pretty damn good on subsequent listens.

Foo Fighters - 'Wasting Light' - April 12
'Rope' is alright, although tbh I'm a little disappointed in it after the heaviness of 'White Limo' and the clips from other songs. Good chorus though. And the album cover is class, channelling a bit of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' with it!

Within Temptation - The Unforgiving
Sounds quite promising, although not as much of a departure from their other works as was hinted at. Last two tracks in particular sound intriguing.

Rob Zombie
He's coming to Ulster Hall in June, really tempted to go. I don't know a lot of his music but love the tracks I have heard, and the quality of the live show speaks for itself really.

Guitarists: who's style do you emulate the most?
Mostly Metallica and AC/DC style riffs and solos for me. My aim though is to be able to play like Slash. The guy gets a raw deal I think by some guitarists who say that he wasn't that technically accomplished, but I find his riffs and solos more difficult than even thrash metal stuff.

Foo Fighters - 'Wasting Light' - April 12
Wow White Limo sounds nothing like the Foo Fighters, can't believe that's Grohl on vocals! Good song though, lot of energy and awesome riff. Really excited for this album now.

Awesome video! :yahoo: But annoyed they cut out the guitar solo :(

Within Temptation - The Unforgiving
Well, it's symphonic metal at it's heaviest, gothic rock at it's lightest. But either way it's good for people to see how varied the genre is!

Within Temptation - The Unforgiving
Absolutely DELIGHTED with the new single. Their sound was beginning to get so stale, but this is a lot more riff-based, a bit heavier, some electronic influences, and a very rare WT guitar solo as well. Apparently the rest of the album has Iron Maiden influences, so definitely looking forward to it. I think this could actually perform relatively well in the UK charts as well, I think Sharon Del Ada did vocals for a popular dance track.

Tease sounds great, *bleep*ing heavy!

Alter Bridge Vs Creed
Alter Bridge, no question. Myles Kennedy is one of the greatest vocalists in rock music right now.
