  1. Blimey Corey Taylor is doing well, I didn't think he'd break the Top 100! Good job that man!
  2. That's the one.
  3. Love the song and the video is... Well, let's just say it's no wonder Slash's wife divorced him lol!
  4. If I remember correctly the organisers had a great idea and put MCR on before Slayer - queue bottling!
  5. One of the first singles I ever bought - still have it on cassette (!) somewhere. Great tune.
  6. Couldn't care less about Linkin Park, especially after that atrocious last album, and I'm a bit meh on the SOAD reunion...never understood what all the fuss was about. Avenged Sevenfold - Excellent. Their new album is, IMO, one of the best metal albums released in a long time. I seriously love it. Rob Zombie has some killer tunes, but the appeal is in the performance. Check out some YouTube videos, that guy puts on INSANE live shows.

2010 was my favourite year since I started actively listening to music, just so much quality - Iron Maiden, Tarja, Apocalyptica, Gogol Bordello, Slash, Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Stone Sour, Ozzy Osbourne, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, The Pretty Reckless...any year after this one is gonna have to be something special to beat that in my book. Anyways, 2011 looking a little bare, but... - Nightwish - Within Temptation - Slash (Yes, apparently he's recording another solo album with Myles Kennedy this year!) - Metallica (Late 2011 according to Lars) And possibly new albums from Megadeth, The Answer and Wolfmother. And maybe a new GNR album in 2011 2021!
  8. Fine looking woman like her, I'm sure she probably is  My girlfriend is obsessed with her, the image, the music, the voice, everything. I think she's talented, but I always found Evanescence a little bit of a...frustrating listen? Amy Lee's voice is mixed INCREDIBLY high, it sort of overpowers everything else.
  9. Amy Lee is the only remaining original member of Evanescence left, just like Axl with Guns N' Roses. New albums delayed and said to offer a radical change in style. Both have been accused of being egomaniacs. Very popular once upon the time in mainstream music. ...surely I'm not the only one who thinks these two ought to collaborate and get married? :heehee:

Really awful cover, autotuned to death and just removed all the guitars and drums so it'll appeal to the kiddies. Top 20 probably.
  11. Well RATM was a genuine protest song choice, Bird Is The Word is just for the lolz. I think it's important to note that distinction. The failure of the John Cage idea to gain any serious momentum shows that there isn't an appetite for another serious anti X-Factor message at No. 1 - that point has already been made. This year it's all about p***ing off Cowell, whoever wins the contest, and well, people in general!
  12. Apologies for the other thread, didn't look hard enough! Anyways, to reiterate - currently on 300,000 members and expanding rapidly (was at 250,000 yesterday)! Needs to reach at least 800,000 though to mount an RATM style challenge.
  13. This is a popularly held opinion but it's not really based on fact. Rock hasn't stopped producing great bands - it's just stopped selling them. It's a lot harder for a new rock band today to break through than it was in the 70s, 80s, early 90s and very early 00s.
  14. Definitely have to mention Apocalyptica, those guys are unique - metal on cellos, and it works! Also Europe loves their symphonic metal, so there's bands like Nightwish, Tarja and Within Temptation all worth checking out if you like female vocals and a bit of orchestra to go along with your guitars!
  15. Lyrically and in terms of image Green Day were never punk, but musically the heavy emphasis on major power chord progressions and general lack of virtuosity is often associated with punk.
  16. Lol, love the album title! They must have been listening to some Manowar!
  17. From 2009 - Lady GaGa - Just Dance Flo Rida feat. Ke$ha - Right Round Lady GaGa - Poker Face Tinchy Stryder feat. N-Dubz - Number One Cheryl Cole - Fight for this Love (For being so bad) Lady GaGa - Bad Romance Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name (Would have been remembered by many people even without the campaign, it's a 90s rock/metal classic) And 2001.... J'Lo - Love Don't Cost A Thing Limp Bizkit - Rollin' Atomic Kitten - Whole Again Shaggy - It Wasn't Me Destiny's Child - Survivor S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin' Christina et al. - Lady Marmalade DJ Otzi - Hey Baby Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head Afroman - Because I Got High So many from 2001 because I was just entering puberty then ie. the age of the typical singles chart buyer!
  18. As someone who doesn't listen much to chart music, maybe that makes me a more objective person to judge this? Clearly if I've heard of the song, then it'll have staying power...in which case, I regret to say, only two songs from 2010 stick out in my mind: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance Owl City - Fireflies Perhaps 'Telephone' at a push. The rest, I'm sorry to say, are utter balls and will be remembered as such.

Sorry, I just get kinda wound up when some of today's youth don't recognise bonafide musical legends. And I say that as a member of today's youth, as I'm only 20!

Storm Lee has a good voice but he needs to stop trying to jump around the stage like Axl Rose could in his heyday. It just looks awkward! Also, less of the vocal w*n**ry would be good - don't know why he felt the need to butcher 'Sweet Child O Mine' by stretching his vocal chords on every syllable.

The ignorance on these forums sometimes is staggering... He's lead singer of Aerosmith. They've sold over 150 million albums worldwide and are one of the biggest rock acts of all-time. But I wouldn't expect someone who has purchased 2010 albums from such musical heavyweights as Basshunter, Chipmunk and Tinchy Stryder to have a clue anyway.
  22. Metallica are still absolutely massive though, whenever they actually get round to releasing new material. Death Magnetic was the fifth highest selling album of 2008, and they've had five consectutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200. I remember reading as well that only The Beatles have sold a larger back catalogue than them this decade, and that's some achievement! Iron Maiden have basically survived on the back of an extremely loyal and ever-expanding fanbase. It's hard to believe they got a track like 'Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter!' to No. 1, and their last single ('Different World' from A Matter Of Life And Death - their new album had no official single) got to No. 3 in the charts with absolutely zero promotion.
  23. What I worry about is the future of rock music. Sure, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, The Rolling Stones, Judas Priest, The Who, Kiss etc. are all selling millions of albums and performing to sold-out venues all over the world. But my question is - where are their successors? How many modern rock/metal acts can you really say will be talked about in the same breath as those legends in the future? I do believe that Avenged Sevenfold will go on to become the next Metallica, in terms of being the commercial leader of the metal genre (alongside perhaps Slipknot), and Muse are certainly flying the flag for rock, despite their recent dip in album quality with The Resistance. But other than that, who is really taking the genre into the next decade and beyond? It's time to face facts - the legends won't be around for ever. Metallica and AC/DC are arguably the two most important rock/metal bands, but Metallica have got maybe another 10-15 years max, and I do believe Brian Johnson said Black Ice was the last ever AC/DC studio album? So where do they go from now? There are some really good rock bands out there - I'm a real flag flyer for The Answer and Alter Bridge, those guys are incredible - but they're not getting the same breaks the legends did. It remains to be seen if they and many others ever will.
  24. You're missing my point. The previous poster had suggested that 'Wretches and Kings' would save the album, so I had to presume they were talking about it in terms of chart success, as everybody knows one good track doesn't "save" an album from sounding like crap.
  25. One track does not a good album make. I agree 'Wretches & Kings' is a good track, easily the best one on the album, but that sort of music just won't make any impact on the singles charts these days. Plus, it isn't even the second single, which says a lot about what LP themselves think of the track. Just listening to A Thousand Suns again and it's the sound of a rocking band getting their balls removed by Snow Patrol.
