Kelela - Raven
Such a fantastic album- the sequencin, the tempo, and the production, all completely on-point throughout. Lock for #1 EOY 2k23 already I feel. Oh and the title track is quite special too when that bass cuts in, but I think “Contact” is my fave. *.*

The UK and transphobia
Yes, exactly the reason that I was so angry when the UK Government blocked the Scottish Parliament for a few points in the polls. Surely this can only make the pain for the friends and family even worse than it already is. Can only echo the points made in this thread about how tragic and disturbing this has been. I'm not sure that I entirely accept your point about things not getting worse or going backwards Dandy*. For me the conversation has been made so toxic in recent years, partly by those who have a large platform and should know better spending all of their time vilifying the trans community, amplified by a print and social media which rewards clicks and shares - ultimately fuelled by heightening the anger and fear responses everyone has. Hard to believe that Nadia Almada got 75% of the vote to win Big Brother at the height of its popularity in 2004, and I remember a BBC documentary in the late 90s (Paddington Green?) where they followed a trans woman's daily life and there was barely any mention of the fact that she was trans. What have we become?

salute - True Magic
I remember this one being in the recent set, which was pretty good- lots of Kathaldazia adjacent acts like TDJ, Villager, PinkPantheress and X CLUB. on the set list. Anyone else getting strong Atlantic Ocean “Waterfall” vibes from this one? Either way: another total banger.

Huge congrats on the Bronze- off to a great start in 2k23 *.* I've heard the new Vitesse X track and listened to some of her AMA on YouTube - she said a couple of things that really interested me. She cites Orbital and Opus III as heavy influences, and she explained that there is a new single (breakbeat/trance influenced vocal track) due in about a month. So hyped for that, the new album which has some shoegaze influences on it from her days as a guitar player in a shoegaze band is all ready to go too..

Hey Kath- hope you are doing well and had a great weekend. Very much here for Overmono taking the #1. Good Lies coming in May seems like forever away at the moment but I am hyped, and the Doberman artwork continuity remains aborable. Hope that BJSC has the K-factor this month and delivers an “Out of Luck” smash. Also really enjoying the new Shygirl and Iglooghost singles. So many great new entries this week- particularly want to s/o to Kelela, Everything But The Girl, I. JORDAN and the Shygirl (remix) of Björk. I also need to immediatelly check the new Vitesse X single! Massive climbs for the January back-to-back bangers from Julien Bracht and Jasper Tygner. Woop! *.*

new single: “Night Light” just dropped.. another absolute heater. RhFKBhVH0Gw It's from a new EP BABYLON IX due soon. Some more:

Club Bizarre 22 - Results
Oh that 's a great result for Funk Tribu- I was surprised at the lack of South American entries tbh, the dance scene there is hot (Ela Minus, Sofia Kourtesis etc.) Great to see Yellow Magic Orchestra, and Monolithic in the Top 5. I was loving all of the African entries/influences/sounds in particular here but did enjoy that Logic Lost track a lot too so it is fantastic to see that win for uhsting. Guess the theme of the next CB will have to be 'big drops'... Thanks for hosting Chez- as I said in the vote ballot it was a really enjoyable theme.

Heartworms - A Comforting Notion (EP)
The new single is really good, very much looking forward to the EP in March! There's a great interview with Jojo here: https://thequietus.com/articles/32146-heart...-orme-interview Loving the INterpol and PJ Harvey influences. : )

Yves Tumor - Praise A Lord Who Chews..
The video leaked, yay - sounds a bit more commercial but still a solid post-punk type sound to it so am still excited. Cxk-QeZ6Rus I've now read up on Echolalia having never heard the term before, they had a song many years back called 'Limerence' which I had also not come across, and Caroline Loveglow released a song in 2022 that I loved called 'Zenosyne' (also an unknown word to me) so I've been learning lots of new words lately!

TDJ
New track “Shhhh (Just Outside)” is on the Swedish label YEAR0001 compilation 'RIFT TWO'. There's also a new one from Real Lies on there. : ) j65RBS4mhOE RIFT Two is the second installment in the RIFT compilation series. The artists selected stand out as voices of the future, unafraid to push into the unknown. Disregarding genre, the tracklist makes unlikely partners of the songs, delighting in the rhymes that arise in the sounds of strangers. YEAR0001’s share of the revenue from the compilation will be donated to Ingen människa är illegal, a Swedish organization that supports refugees and undocumented immigrants in obtaining permanent residence. https://year0001.bandcamp.com/album/rift-two

6 Music Goes Back to... The 00s & 10s
Not sure if anyone was listening at 7am but La Roux was on selecting faves from the 2000s and we had Britney Spears “Toxic” followed by The Knife's “Heartbeats” ( a song which peaked at #1 in 2004 followed by a song that peaked at #119 in 2004)! That was quite a moment. Featuring Anohni Hegarty on vocal duties - I bought this on CD single at the time and remember being pleased it had made the Top 40. So many favourites played today but especially great to hear Metric's “Monster Hospital” on the radio. Sadly peaking at just 55 in 2006. I remember buying “Young Folks” by Peter, Bjorn and John in the same week but that did make the Top 40. Zed Bias' “Neighbourhood” too. *.*

RabbitFurCoat's Top 100 Acts; 2003-2022
Hey RFC, just catching up. Jamie xx is fantastic. I listen to In Colour quite frequently still and it's packed with so many favourites, “Loud Places”, “Gosh”, “Girl” and “Sleep Sound” which all went to #1 for me, and he also got to #1 with “All Under One Roof Raving” which was a non-album single but came in that era and I've always felt like it should have been on there. Shame that the xx don't make this list but I guess they've never been the most prolific group for singles and that would ultimately penalise them over groups you maybe enjoy less but have released quite frequently over the last 20 years. Btw, I will not accept ur heinous slur against “KILL DEM” tho - it samples the Father Ted junglist massive track “Limb By Limb” (!) That alone = must play. *.* I share ur feelings about Bloc Party, “If We Get Caught” was a lovely reminder of how great they can be- though when Matt Tong (astounding drummer) left I kind of lost interest over time sadly. The album Silent Alarm holds special memories and my Dad now has the T-shirt with the lyrics from the entire album on it starting 'it's so cold in this house' because he was always tight with the heating.. I did see their final gig as the traditional line-up (with Sarah Jones from Hot Chip taking on the drums) in summer 2013 which was amazing. I still hold a lot of love for “Young Blood” and still believe that they never bettered it, but I do also really like the choice you have for your favourite single. It is also the only time (here and on ChCMedia) that I've ever won any song contest! Bicep are probably one of my favourite picks here- I follow a blog which is run by an active participant in the Northern Ireland music scene and they helped me to discover “Just” in summer '15 after raving about Bicep for months on end. It became a big favourite, rising to No4, and then 2 years later like you I was perched for any new material. Their self titled debut won me over and I've enjoyed pretty much everything since. Their set at Glastonbury this summer was incredible! My brother-in-law loves Feeder, I actually played “Just a Day” as the final track when he married my sister and almost exactly hit the curfew time!

Chez EOY 2022
Oh interesting to see Indian Wells here. I don't think anything has quite ever hit me as much as “Cascades” - particularly that bit from 2m 30s onwards, that melancholia. <3 Julien Bracht was another brilliant discovery in CB this year.

6 Music Goes Back to... The 00s & 10s
Thank you for the notification, I'm really looking forward to this, esp hyped for a Ladytron mix. I hope that Johnny Boy's “You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve” gets a play. Still not over the lowly #50 peak that got. 😞
