strong tracks!! especially the production it is so slick. some of the the pharrells tracks are epics, pharrel has really given her some of his best production work. this looks like being a great album, so far stand out tracks are heartbeat and miles away (huge hit in the making)

i agree 4Real 4Real and Heat are dire, thank goodness they are bonus tracks and will never be single contenders. i can't do a top 5 cause i like too many, i'm diggin O.O.C in a bigger way plus "i'll be lovin u long time" more. but "migrate" takes it to another level and "for the record" is A+. so many potential singles, sony should release 7 or 8!! i'd rinse this over a 2 year period, i don't see why not -_- don't just beat the beatles record but smash it!! releases: 1. imo as far as pop and r'n'b tracks mariah knows what she is doing and can continue to serves up superior tracks, she has got that platinum voice which is smooth (it may be too slick for some people), but its soulful, vulnerable too and has feeling. forget the fact she has range and power. on this album you believe what she is singing especially in her personal tracks there is authenticity. thats really crucial that she writes and produces otherwise she would just be a singer and wouldn't really appeal to some (me included). thankfully the artistry is making her an artist not just a singer. songs like "side effects" resonate, it could only come from her and could only be sung by her, its always the personal tracks that are the most interesting on an album like britney's "piece of me". its important to give your fans and the wider public something real that they can connect with. she is able to do that so she is more than worthy. you don't get musical surprises or risks with mariah so maybe that why some see her as being "bland" but judging her within the r'n'b/pop genre she is incredible delivering up high quality tracks.

i hope so, just hope the the kooks physicals don't kick in over the weekend. and duffy keeps decreasing but bad news....the bbc are using her track in an ad to promote "my family" so this exposure could generate sales but it could be minimal.

i'm going to check the chart and sales posts....aha i found the figure of 800k but that could have been a few years ago so over 900k could be very possible. its a waiting game but i can't wait either, she is getting a proper rest. hopefully it all kicks off at the end of the year. good timing to catch the xmas sales. i wonder who else will be coming back at that time. will her mate beyonce be back, solo fergie too? the timing now is bad with many female artists all competiting, madonna, mariah, janet, kylie, leona, celine plus britney. it will be interesting to see who will come out on top by the end of their eras. most likely she'll come back with 1 album instead of the hectic split 2 albums to promote worldwide project. it was risky and ambitious to do that but she pulled it off, sales don't lie! she had a very successful era again clocking up the 2nd biggest song of all time (since 1999) after cher's "believe". things will be slicker we should get 4 or 5 fully promoted international releases. can you imagine if she puts in 2 commercial uptempo fusion hip shakers on 1 album :w00t: it will be twice as powerful as any previous album. her fusion tracks like OA, WW, LT and HDL are her trademark no one can do what she does so successfully. you can't predict what she'll do or what sound she may focus on. its most likely be eclectic again but if she puts in more radio friendly tracks she could see some monster worldwide sales in 2009.

the flowers are starting to grow, side effects is now in full bloom it is outstanding it up there with migrate! it is so moving, mariah's voice is full of sadness, she really has an expressive voice. amazing talented lady. i hope this gets a release but it may be too personal of a track for her to perform. there are many radio friendly tracks so many single contenders, sony must be so confident with this album. she should release 5 or 6 tracks. this is going to be a great era for mariah she has already clocked a number #1 single, she just keeps getting better.

1. Migrate - slinky and tough contemporary club anthem. so many great parts that hold your attention, the way it leads to the chorus is sublime. i'm talking about the part "soon as we walk into the club". the vocoder effect a bit too much on t-pain vocals, the last 30 seconds are outstanding! mariah's ad libs and vocal runs (she kills it). one of the best and catchiest utempo tracks from MC of all time. this will be such an easy #1 for mariah 9/10 2. Touch My Body - still really like this, its a fun playful track with quirky lyrics, its subtle not in your face with a great seductive hook 8/10 3. Cruise Control - interesting and amusing jamacian singing style, she pulls it off though. takes a while to get going but its all about the super catchy chorus. makes you want to get up and dance! nice unusual flavour on this track a definate single contender 8/10 4. Stay In Love - on familar ground here the piano ballad, its simple the last minute is wonderful great vocal, alot of passion in mariah's singing, a grower 8/10 5. Side Effects- - moody, a good midtempo track, not showy some nice production parts. a grower cause of the chorus 8/10 6. I'm That Chick - very retro summery top down road trip type of song, i can see mariah on roller skates wearing short shorts liking on some ice cream. musically it reminds me something michael jackson would have done in the early 80s but i don't want to hear it as much as i want to hear the others. 7/10 7. Love Story - quite a dull track that doesn't really get going doesn't build up sufficently to what is a lackluste chorus. JD vocal input is annoying, there is no need for all these uh, uh huhs. one of the weakest tracks on the album 5/10 8. I'll Be Lovin U Long Time - another midtempo track, just ok, a bit too laidback not enough ooumph not a very strong hook, an album track nice ending though 6/10 9. Last Kiss - another jermaine track, too subtle lacks passion or energy the chorus is weak, not feeling JD as a rapper his input should be kept to the minimum 5/10 10. Thanks For Nothing - another one with more JD background talking, too simplistic, melody is weak and similar to many of JD's production tracks. this could be a grower (so mark could be subject to change) 6/10 11. OCC -after 4 so so tracks comes a better track, fantastic verses like the way it builds up but the chorus is a bit of let down and too repretitive but still a decent track, nice production 8/10 12. For The Record - moody track beautiful beginning, great production love the strings but the part at 1:18 momentum is broken but you get used to it, nice chorus the way she sings the "the first time" is beautiful. nice end with those high notes. single contender. 8/10 13. Bye Bye - strong powerful lyrics, simple track and simple chorus a bit repititive, its very smooth a bit too smooth and poppy for me. but its still good especially the last 30 seconds 7/10 14 I Wish You - syrupy self indulgent track doesn't have a good structure all over the place too much going on vocally. a bit too one dimentional, way too pop and dull for me 3/10

madtimtim dropping? no one is surprised. but it will rebound the video is coming plus promo + remixes + physical so #1 is still doable. i think duffy will step down again 1-2-3-4, i wonder how close sam sparro is to taking #2? i hope its possible come sunday

i'd be happy with a top 10 hit. this track isn't getting great radio support, awareness is a bit low. thank goodness she is here to do promo work and tv appearances, it is needed!! top5 will be tough lets see the effect of what POG and FNP on the track.

for me migrate is leading the way, its a full on head nod jamfest. great to dance too and catchy as hell. this has to be the 3rd single no excuses!! this will be a monster in the US!! i'm rarely wrong about my R'n'B crossover tracks that become hug hits ;) a future club anthem no doubt!!

simple sounding track, i think the lyrics are its main focus and strong point. i need to hear the full version its probably a grower but from what i heard so far WBT seems superior and a better rounded track.

nice find! thats the good thing about buying promo stuff you get promo sheets with info. thats interesting, i always thought the UK divison of sony have no idea how to promote shakira here and now we have proof!! they don't get her and thats very worrying considering they are responsible for her here. her music doesn't fit into a certain type of sound and they don't know who to target but her appeal is broad, i can't believe they tried to pass her off as urban :wacko: objection is not urban in a any way shape or form. amazing 9 million at that stage! shakira was a big deal worldwide in 2002/2003, she really broke through and became A list international artist. the last update we had was right at the end of the LS era and the album had reached 13 million but thats out of date. the album was then cut in price and started to chart again in the fixation era so she could have even more sales. i haven't heard about LS selling 1 million in the UK. i think its more like 500-600k we should get official figures from sony in the next era.
