thanks ashley & me-d :friends: i think i love it!! -_- impressed so far anyway this what i make of it: the prouction in wyclef's verse is dancehall mixed with elements of miami bass (fast stuttering beats) also steel band influence plus crunk too. i can hear many influences & sounds but they blend well together. the shakira chorus is amazing the way it suddenly switches from the verse and slows down to reveal her angelic and warm plus comforting vocal. the comforting comes from the lyrics "i'll be your shelter" etc beautiful hearing shakira expressing these words!! i love the way her voice rides the production she balances it out perfectly. the transition from verse to chorus is unexpected taking you into another direction musically. wyclef made sure in her part that her voice and the beautiful way she sings gets priority, he doesn't cloud her with too much production. lyrically i love all shakira's parts plus the way wyclef says the line "many fight for the crown but there only one king many girls want the title but there only one queen" overall very happy although this isn't as strong as HDL's energetic crowd pleasing fusion production but its great see that they worked other sounds this time around. something different and fresh from the king and queen. dancehall fusion with switching tempos great idea!! i can't wait to hear it in full!!

it makes for a good story thats why, she is the "bad guy" now. they want her to fail and get "punished". to them she went from viginal pop princess to crazy bad mother.

i went for yes. the main reason being her private life is dominating the music and this will hurt sales in the long term. it shouldn't be that way, her image right now is so bad in the media, they are more interested in her life following the drama and waiting for her to mess up again. i can imagine many parts of the media wanting her to fail and flop cause it makes for a good story and they can blame her bad behaviour on her failing music career. also where is the promo? the magazine articles, tv appearances? if she was well enough she'd be doing tons of promo to support it but she has to focus on the problems in her life. if she does another bad live performance then we'll all know something is definately wrong and that she isn't well at all mentally. she should take 6 months off or more away from the limelight getting lots of therapy get a new manager who she can get to know well and trust. give her time to forget whats beeing happening recently the custody case etc. gain some confidence about performing again and comeback with another strong track in the spring of 2008

i hope so, i noticed that too its airplay rise has been very similar to BL both singles also have another thing in common....BL was at #18 on the airplay chart with around the same audience when it was made available on itunes. it will be interesting to see how high GM will leap and to follow its progress on itunes. as far as BL it was number #1 on itunes for 15 days but that wasn't enough to secure #1 it peaked it at #3. i think GM is a stronger track but the negative press has definately had an impact on the track i just hope it has enough in the tank to go top3. also britney needs to get out there and support it. BL had very limited promo in the US i hope GM gets supported by britney and she does high profile tv shows and performances.

yeah amerie is like shakira, she has some brains along with talent and looks. i love it when you see people in the limelight do unusual things like feeding their minds with knowledge and not get sucked in by the superficiality of the entertainment business. amerie's mum is the one that focused on how important it was to get an education over her singing plus her sister is a lawyer. she went to Georgetown University to study English Literature and Fine Arts. i reckon amerie has a high IQ too. i did notice in an interview i saw with her how amerie is articulate and well spoken. this is the article where i read she went to Uni.... http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic/st...2076450,00.html natalie portman graduated from Harvard in 2003 with a degree in Psychology :o whoa Harvard!! that is tough to get into!! julia stiles went to Columbia university did a degree in English also there is a supermodel called christy turlington who took time away from earning millions to study philosophy and art history at New York University. i think shakira will continue to hire private tutors to teach her in subjects she is interested in. she said she wants to study art history so maybe that will be next.

its holding up well, there is so much negativity towards britney. without question the most troubled comeback i have ever seen!! even worse than michael jackson's "rock the world" with all the allegations and bad press. all this affecting her and the song: bad vma performance fired by managers k-fed rumour that she wanted to kill him bodyguard expose on her kanye bashing her custody battle britney's parenting criticised road accident court case possible fine of jail time can "gimme more" overcome all this? its slowing down her bullet is now 578 the bad press is affecting it. i'm hoping downloads will save the day and boost britney to #1, the song deserves it. Bad Image Vs Great Comeback Song. Bad Image is starting to affect it.

she has so much to deal with and so much pressure on her, how is she handling all the negativity and bad events around her? its terrible to watch this. she shouldn't be having her comeback now the timing is so bad. she needs to take time off to get her life back in order and deal with her issues. she could have a serious breakdown again. i think maybe its best to just release "gimme more" with minimal promo support. it would be good to get a number #1 in the US and europe to give her some confidence but all this growing negativity is going to harm her album its starting to affect the single. i think its better to delay everything. do the comeback with another great lead single in the summer of 2008 and album soon after for her sake.

i think mcfly are the weakest of the 3, leona is still strongest but take that have the better song. it will be interesting to see the promo wars between the 3. we know leona has the best promo spot....the x-factor slot. lets say 9 million people watch it, if just 1% of the viewers buy it simon will have 90k worth of sales. i can't see her being beaten

this is a grower!! a very good sign of a song having longevity this could be a BIG seller. its not bad at all i like it, it will have wide appeal.

ah the game of knowledge, yep that makes sense....so its the featuring chamillionaire track, you can hear a rappers voice in the background in some of the performance but he isn't on stage. its sounds like it will be a hot track. its looking good for wyclef's comeback. the fact wyclef, shakira and shivametimba were there meant they had time to go into a studio and work on the track or tracks (for sharapova's album too) maybe shakira wanted to add to wyclef's production. its a possibilty that they have worked on 2 tracks "L-O-V-E" and "King & Queen" but we are only getting KAQ. yep you read right i know its freakish....radio 1 played a shakira track :o apparently las de la intuicion has been a club favourite at pacha in ibizia this summer. there are new remixes, one was played by pete tong 3 weeks ago and on the 14th. it was remixed by Femi B & Leggz i think this is it, its called the All Pacha Stars Remix don't know much about it i think there are other versions too. anyone know the name of the others? are they any good? links? interesting....this track does seem to be called "bollywood metts hollywood". maybe its a last minute extra track that they came up with, maybe an addition to wyclef's album. could be, it is like the punjabi mc track that sampled the busta rhymes timbaland produced track which used a sample from knightrider. so "king & queen" is yet to come? how will that sound i wonder? unless!! this version has been adapted especially for for this live version and they have filled in the shakira part with their vocals. also the enta omri sample is a direct reference to shakira so there is a link there? time is the teller we must play the game of waiting :rolleyes:

i think this may come down to who does the most and best promo, mcfly and take that are all known for doing massive promo to generate sales. leona is a simon cowell act and he will want huge blanket promo since she is his new cash cow. mcfly: we know their fanbase support them only in the first week after that they tumble cause they don't appeal to the wider public. with boybands you have to ask have their fanbase grown up and out of them? they may be too pop for some teens who may have moved on to more credible MCR but many may still fancy them so they will buy for those reasons. you never know with mcfly they have a tour where they can appeal directly to their fans to buy their single plus if they do instore record signings again to attract their core fanbase teenage girls then they could boost their sales. take that: the song is not as strong as "patience". question is have they lost momentum? their comeback was hyped and they had that sentimental documentry too. they will need to do a lots of promo to reach their fanbase women in their 20s & 30s, the mums and nans. will their fanbase wait for the album? this mentality could hurt their single sales. leona: she has a mariah, whitney, celine like broad appealing track that covers the spectrum of buyers appealing to the x-facor audience which includes the important mums and nans buyers (remember the mums and nans are the ones that keep westlife selling). if simon went for an R'n'B track then she would not appeal to them but its about playing it safe and wide.....get those buyers that bought her the first time around to buy her again. and it will work, with all the promo she'll do plus the crucial x-factor (audience of 8-10 million watching) hyping her return and performance she should get #1

she may be able to sing i'm not disputing that, what i'm doing is comparing tracks (the lyrics and production too) not just the singing. britney's "gimme more" is hotter, fresher, edgier and more daring plus its about something honest about her life...being an attention addict and wanting more and more. its unexpected for britney to do this, its brave and risky admitting that and not apologising for her behaviour. leona's track you can imagine celine or whitney singing this its quite dated in comparison to britney's track.

if 50 cent stays true to his word and retires then i will have some respect for him. i don't think he will, he isn't happy with his record company he is blaming them for doing bad promo but thats not true. he may not want to do any promo work cause he is deluded he thinks they don't support him. its an excuse. he a sore loser, he wanted to beat kanye and didn't so he wants to blame his record company when he should blame his below average singles and weak album. he may forget this album and release another quickly to get out of his contract.

when i heard the first verse i thought it was celine dion! especially in the first line when she says "frozen" the way she sings that is a celine trademark. then she sings and sounds similar to xtina in the chorus and especially the vocal runs at the end very xtina. leona can do mariah, whitney, xtina and now celine dion. i still think this is leona's problem she isn't distinctive enough, she is a very good copy cat singer a karaoke queen. but the UK doesn't have a singer like those so she could have a place here and fill a void. its interesting her people went for a mature sound more for adults, its a very 90s song. she sounds very american (simon and clive have their eye on that market for sure). overall its very safe, no edge a little bland compared to rihanna's singles and britney's comeback track, they seem right for this time, but this isn't at all. however with the blanket promo (simon cowell will make her do in the UK) she will get #1.
