Shakira releasing a new single when??
its not clear whats happening, a single may come to help promote the upcoming tour dvd so possibly "pure intuition" is being held back and will be released eventually but we don't know. shakira is taking some time off but we will have alot to fill the gap cause what we do know is there are songs that feature shakira coming up very soon including new songs... #1 the miguel duet is getting a european release (not UK) and shakira will film the video #2 wyclef has a new all collobarations album and includes a track called "L-O-V-E" featuring shakira, its supposed to be really great according to him maybe hips don't lie part 2 #3 3 brand new songs on "the love in time or colora" soundtrack released in november #4 santana has a new song on his forth coming album this year featuring shakira and lil wayne. could it be reggaeton sounding? #5 annie lennox is making a all female collaborations album and shakira has been linked with it so a duet with annie could be coming too (it may not be a single) not all the above will be singles but new music is coming

new shakira interview
well we'll have the miguel duet and video release coming up and the 3 new songs from the film in november so we'll be ok for a few months yet, she may be gone for 2 years i think, studying and marriage in 2008 and back with a new album in 2009 i don't think she should do a 3 year degree thats too much its not like she needs qualifications to get a job with it  also she should be around students her age range not doing a degree with mostly 18 year olds so maybe a 1 year course adult education like an access course which is for over 21s, a 1 year course in history thats better ;) and she can hire a private tutor too if she get busy so she can catch up and do the essays and hand them in on time to be marked

how much it costs to launch an act in the music biz
i thought this article from guardian website was interesting, it gives you a good breakdown of costs involved in lauching an act nowadays (the example they are using is for a band with 4 members) here it is: You've got the band, you've got the talent (or you'd like to think so) - all you need now to make the big time is that killer hit ... and about half a million pounds. Dave Simpson reports on the price of fame or, more realistically, the cost of squandering money on a lost cause Advance: £150,000 An advance is the money a record company gives to the band when the contract is signed - it's cash the label plans to recover from the earnings the band will make from future CD and download sales. It is meant to cover the band's living expenses over the cycle of a recording, releasing and promoting an album (which is usually around 18 months). The advance is split between the four members, and the manager will take 20% off the top. That works out as less than pounds 35,000 each over a year and a half, which isn't enough to make throwing TVs out of hotel windows a viable financial option. Recording costs: £100,000 A hundred grand, staggering as it sounds, is an average figure for a band to spend on recording an album. They'll have run through the recording in a decent studio with a reasonable producer - for that kind of money they can't afford to spend eight weeks rerecording one tom-tom. A chunk of the money - around £30,000 - will go to whichever whizz kid producer is entrusted with the task of turning tuneless reprobates from Rugby into a collision of the Beatles and the Stones. More will go to recording engineers, remixers, as well as towards studio hire and the costs of mastering the record. Videos: £90,000 In 1995, Michael Jackson's record company spent more than $7m making the video for Scream ($53,000 alone was spent on breaking guitars), but a band can now make a decent promotional tool for as little as £5,000, though a major label will spend more than that to get a shot at rotation on MTV2. A new act would ideally be partnered with a hip promos director, such as Wiz (who shot Kasabian's Empire but charges a minimum of £80,000), but it's more likely band and label will reach a compromise, maybe £90,000 for videos for two songs shot by someone who'll work for less. Advertising and posters: £95,000 The age-old industry tool of a "blaze" of publicity has not got any cheaper. A half-page ad in NME might cost £5,000, while an advert on MTV2 or Kerrang! TV costs £10,000 per single (that's the price of airtime plus the costs of making the ad). A good poster campaign costs £10,000 per single and £15,000 for an album, but posters can be wasted money, as our expert explains: "All Saints had a massive comeback campaign but the record bombed. You can't take those posters down, whereas if they'd booked TV airtime they could have switched it to a different act." Clothing: £200 Many rock bands don't spend money on stylists, at least until they're in contention for glossy magazine covers - they're scruffy blighters because their fans think filth looks cool. Generally, the only time a rock band will shell out on outfits will be for a certain look for a video, and that's covered by the video budget. "Bands like Hundred Reasons or the View have not spent money on clothes," says a music industry expert, "although we recently had to give one band's manager £200 to get them some new trainers, because their feet smelled." Touring: £40,000 Bands start to make money from touring once they're successful, but before that the record company must pay to send them round the country, with a sound man. Rising bands typically lose around £20,000 over three UK tours in a year this way. Bands seeking to get major exposure as support to an established act may even be forced to pay to get on the bill, depending on how unscrupulous the headliners' management is. More money - another £20,000 - goes on travelling to TV and radio sessions and hiring equipment. Bands claw this back through merchandising: a £10 T-shirt makes six quid a time for the group. Retail and displays: £53,000 Not many people know that those eye-catching window displays in record shops are actually bought and paid for. Getting the likes of HMV and Virgin to stock and put up instore promotion for a CD costs around £10,000 for a debut single, £18,000 for a higher profile follow-up and £20,000-£25,000 for an album. Similar deals are done for piles of beans in supermarkets, although you wouldn't put them in your CD player. Photos: £10,000 It will take a top rock photographer to turn the four former butchers and builders from Plymouth into four budding and brooding Johnny Borrells. A master of the moody image such as Kevin Westerberg (famed for shots of the likes of REM and Thom Yorke) won't take the lens cap off for less than £10,000, and that's before the cost of hiring studios, lights and so on. Luckily, a lesser name can do the whole package for under £5,000, while for those on a particularly tight budget there's always the photo booth in Boots. Conquering the internet: £20,500 It costs around £3,000 to create the band's website, but you've also got to hire a publicist to bring the band to the attention of music websites, make tracks available digitally and pay someone to update a band's MySpace site. Another bare minimum of £4,500 (£500 a month over nine months) goes on paying a firm to set up "street teams" - armies of highly motivated whippersnappers who promote a band because they love them. Street teams themselves don't get paid, but they get to meet the band at the soundcheck, get a T-shirt and a copy of the album. Flyers and other tools for these pesky kids add another £3,000. Creating a buzz: £36,000 Around £12,000 goes on retaining a TV plugger for six months to take your video to the TV stations. That is vitally important when a show such as Later with Jools Holland can massively raise a band's profile. "Later's not easily pluggable, but you wouldn't get on the show without a plugger," the Guardian is told. "They'd never put a band on who they stumbled across in the pub." You need a different plugger to get you on to radio, and another publicist to deal with the print media - and you'll be paying them the same as the TV plugger. Total cost: £594,700 Launching a band is ludicrously expensive, but it's not all dead money. Of the expenses quoted above, the label will generally recoup around 50% of video costs once the band starts to sell records, and they can also claw back some of the costs of touring, recording - and, of course, the advance will come back once the band have earned that much money from sales. But the rest is lost, and as our expert puts it: "Obviously, if the band flops, all is lost." And that's the key point: most band are destined to fail. So, goodbye, half a million quid. i have noticed its getting quite ruthless nowadays many pop acts under performing chart and sales wise and don't seem to be making profit for their record company, some are getting dropped quicker too, is it getting harder to make it?

new shakira interview
shakira recently gave a spanish interview talking about what she is planning to do in the next few months she said she has her final two concerts taking place in turkey and nigeria next week then she has to go to the studio to finish 3 tracks for the film "Love In The Time Of Cholera" adapted from the best selling book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez who is a fan of shakira and her friend, it was Marquez that asked shakira to be a part of the project. the film is coming out in november shakira will only do 3 songs no acting. after that she will be taking time off "putting her public persona to the side for a few months and give her time to Antonio, her family, to take care of the flowers in her garden, to read, reflect, to create and even study. She has planned to study history at a university." interesting i think cause shakira is intelligent and cultured with her unusually high IQ going to study at a uni is perfect for her she will do really well she is suited to studying, when she visits countries she always goes to check out the buildings, art and museums and look at the history of the place she not your typical cliche female pop star that only likes to go shopping and buy shoes and bags.

Shakira to perform at Live Earth
yeah i know it will always be a problem for shakira in the UK, the UK doesn't embrace foreign language songs like the rest of europe case in point la tortura wasn't released her as a single but everywhere else in europe it was. its cool though UK can get to know about her spanish side cause of the internet, people can get exposed to her spanish songs and performances too!! :cheer:
-
Good news people.
its great that its been brought back, i don't think it will reach 1 cause newer tracks tend to do better cause they are "fresh", how about voting for las de la inticuion are there places online to vote for it?

Which 'Big Girl' will chart higher?

Global sales so far
^^^ thats incredible!! 15 million, i always thought the 8 million combined figure sounded low and thought 10 or 12 million was more accurate but 15 million!? that unbelievable nowadays, i hope we get something official on her website so we know for sure. i know that the LS figures are out of date cause by the end of 2003 LS sold 13 million but in various articles this year it's now being updated to 15 million. i think shakira's albums feed off each other so well, LS started to sell again after FO1 and OF2 were released plus she has the spanish and english markets at her feet

Shakira to perform at Live Earth
i liked the performances!! and what a surprise to include dia especial and inevitable, that was the first time she sang dia especial live! inevitable was the best, i think cause its a song where shakira can take her time with the words and it showcases her voice better than hips don't lie cause hips is faster. don't bother sounded great i love the live production on this track!! hips don't lie was good i love the intro with those big beats and shakira feeling the music with her body flexing in time  dia especial has a kind breathy and understated whispery vocal its the nature of the song, the chorus were too soft but it was still very good, once again shakira's band provide amazing production she has really worked them hard to be this good! but apparantly the sound at the germany gig was not very good and afffected many artists like enrique cause if you watch his performances he sounded poor live the best part was the fact shakira "hips don;t lie"was show on bbc1!! primetime exposure at around 8.30pm!! perfect slot!! the first time its happened since she was on top of the tops with WW back in 2002! i never thought it would happen! i just wish they showed "inevitable" that would have won shakira many new fans to see more of the rockier side of her but germany aired it so many new german fans for shakira!

H&M Today > Pure Intuition
interesting but it just doesn't add up, why does shakira always confuse us  firstly there isn't a promo cd of pure intuition so how did the store get hold of the track in the UK? and there is no release date in UK (its not in the up coming releases schedule). no radio stations are playing it here and shakiar didn't include it in her tour and didn't pay ait at live earth, its quite random that H&M are playing it but its great that they are!! it could be that the store owner is a fan of shakira and has ripped the track and is allowed to play stuff they like. it could mean nothing although i would like it to mean something ie PI is getting a worldwide release

Shakira to perform at Live Earth
i don't think shakira will be shown on uk tv they always seem to snub her remember live 8 and the world cup both big events and they didn't show shakira on the bbc, however she may be on the interactive channels, its true she is the biggest act in hamburg so surely someone working at the bbc will realise this and show her performance. at least in germany she will be shown she is huge there and we'll see it on youtube soon after. which songs would we like her to perform? i'm guessing she'll do only 3 or 4 songs since she has to rush and catch a plane but i'd like pure intuition/las de la intuicion (i'm dreamin) la tortura animal city (so unlikely) timor :hithead: but i reckon whenever wherever underneath your clothes la tortura hips don't lie now everyone do what i just.... what i'd like and i'd reckon!! now!!

how much will beautiful liar sell in total?
it had to happen after 3 months in the top10 beyonce & shakira had to fall out of the top10 down to #14. this week they shifted around 7.5-8k taking their total to 249510 approx still in the 240k-260k bracket, it could leave it in 2 weeks and move to bracket 4. but question is how much more will it continue to sell? does it have another 30k in it? 40k? 50k? will it reach 300k! i don't think so but i'd like to be wrong for once :o

Shakira Out With Penelope For A 3rd Time
she is really being sociable in her break, go for it shakira!! i think there is a group of them shakira, antonio, antonio's brother and his girlfriend that are hanging out in L.A and NYC its their holiday to enjoy the night life and penelope seems to be their guide/new friend taking them to the best places. hey maybe this both couples vacation is cause marriages may take place soon after!? :o could antonio's brother and girlfriend be getting married soon and this is all happening because of them? about madonna and the janet thing, i think this is what happened shakira, antonio + his brother and girlfriend & penelope met demi and ashton then went off together to another club where madonna was and cause demi is friends with madonna (kabballah buddies) she brought shakira & co into the same booth/section of the club as madonna, i don't think madonna and shakira are friends and i don't think we'll see them hanging out together. the only reason shakira joined madge's crew was cause of demi and madonna couldn't say no. madonna is known to be aloof and selective which brings us to janet. she was in the same club but didn't mingle in the madonna booth cause there is beef between madge and janet, and madge made sure janet didn't join them! well thats my take on the situation
