Uk promo has been perfect, shakira really commited to doing promo here and in europe. Gypsy live really showcases her voice and it sounds like a strong single. i think this could surprise people and get huge worldwide. especially if the video is filmic i think the song will come alive more. you have to hand it to Ireland they have been so good to her, she broke a record with HDL i can't remember what but she was 9 weeks at #1 and she wolf doing best in ireland yet again. i don't think she has ever been there? its a shocker why is she liked so much i wonder? but sony need to make sure she goes there to thank them!! she MUST tour there!!
  2. miss bonkers of course

i love this track it has so much going on i especially love shakira's lyrics, for me its definately a good second single. here is my review of the track and why it "good" and why it "works".... the good news is that pharrell production doesn't dominate the track musically, you can hear his work and input but the production building up and then getting stripped down keeps this track lively and engaging maybe shakira's input on the production is balancing it out. as a whole this is track has a melancholic quality, its strange to say that cause the production is lively. a song about making mistakes in love. shakira sings this in many different ways, the quality and delivery is impressive. we get soft girlish voice, then fast singing talking style, then her yearning heartfelt singing on the chorus. the bridge she sounds at first playful then more insistent as she repeats it (there is hope, not a defeatist attitude). her eh and uh yelps sound like a desperate call then exhaustion with her ways/mistakes. like she is running or chugging like a train unable to stop, its relentless we get it repeated many times at the end of the song. until she is just totally knacked. this is just a great wonderful track . lyrically great story telling, the first verse is mysterious, we have a room with danger and trouble but its heaven!? that surprise punch is typical shakira...contradicting unexpected never knowing what the next line is going to be look at the first 2 lines of she wolf as example...the last thing anyone was expecting was the word lycanthropy being sung. back to DIA it starts to accelerate now its all about the "guy", she is going fast, she is excited about him you can tell in her voice with her enthusiasm, too fast? rushing into the relationship? will she fall? the answer is yes, we know this cause my favourite line is coming up where she trips and fall on the same rock. very well realised and executed track. typical shakira

#4 in mid weeks, no chance of #3 i'm afraid. david nutta has his sturdy back up chick version pulling in 4k on itunes bootsing his overall total. jay-z track is still fresh and ahead of shakira at #2 on itunes. SW download is #2 on hmv site, #4 on amazon download, she is only getting beaten by taio cruz really cause tracks #2 & #3 are selling dirt cheap for 29p

theres a new official t-pain remix at first i wasn't so sure cause imo you can't improve on the original and their voices don't compliment each other too well but then again his vocoder fast rapping is perfect for this futuristic sounding track and it grows on you :funky: 1a69hXrX93Y

Germany is an important/profitable market in europe so #2 is an excellent new entry

yes its very close, he hasn't no, she is holding firm at #2 on itunes but the popularity bars are close between them. jay-z has the album version charting along with the single so that explains his rise. another thing shakira was not available to download on hmv's website but today they fixed it and she can be downloaded. that should help even if its a matter of hundreds of sales. its still all to play for we are only 2 days in sales wise. if she maintains #2 on itunes she should creep past him tomorrow. best case scenario overtake jay-z tomorrow and keep a healthy lead over him. #4 looks good to me, madonna physicals on saturday look like saving her and keeping her at #3.
  8. i voted for the howling she wolf aka miss bonkers

i think so :coffee: at best #2 but likely #3 however if david nutta combination is still edging her then #4. i think it will be close between positions 2 to 5

2 day sales = 9,361 for position #25. not bad, if she can do 40k+ this week it'll be all good

some good news her radio airplay jumped up to #27 from #68. hopefully she can break the top20 by this time next week, tv airplay down though from #16 to #22. also i got a quick question do video downloads of she wolf count towards the single sales? are they added on? or not?

madonna always has mega hype/media attention like always. plus she has multiple versions charting and 3 physicals too this week. with all that she should be the clear favourite for #1. if taio denies her it'll be a huge upset but he has tv promo and physical too. as far as shakira she has neither, she is coming to the uk on the 24th to do tv promo, her physical cd single is out on the 21st. next week should be a good week for her but this week its a madonna vs taio battle

really good effort in 2 days, well done to shakira #25 is a great jump off point hopefully next week we see her in the top5. i'm doing some quick analysis and i think shakira at best will be at #3 if all goes well, but its very likely she could be at #4 or even #5. this is why.... madonna is the favourite cause....her radio airplay is the highest, she has the biggest hype and multiple remixes charting plus 3 physical out too, 2 cd singles and a 12". shakira has no physical yet. taio cruz may have low airplay but he is making up for it by doing around the country promo including tv so awareness of his track is going to be high. he has the physical too 1 cd single to boost him shakira won't get here till the 24th to promo. physical cd single out on the 21st. so adding all this up she is in a tough position right now. jay-z track is still fresh and new, the combined power of his fanbase plus rihann and kanye should not be underestimated so he could be at #3 come sunday. david nutta can't be written off he has staying power, he has 2 version charting in the top40 combined he could be a problem for shakira and hold her off from #4 pixie lott is no threat, she did the signings, big tv promo even the text single offer. she is using mcfly like tactics with multiple purchases by her fanbase to secure this number #1 and the result will show next week when she will fall from #1 to #6 or even lower. so the way i see it madonna #1, taio at #2 and shakira either at #3, #4 or #5. if she was any lower then it would be disappointing! of course i'd love to see her at #1 but the odds are really against her if it had been released on the 21st as originally planned then maybe with the physical and tv promo she would have nailed it.

theres a she wolf in the charts!? i don't think this will go to #1 its too weird and different, top5 will do. madonna has a much more commercial safer radio friendly song tailored for #1. she can have it. i'll stick with bonkers and a song about lycanthropy :hithead:

shakira loves being at #12 week on week with no promo support by her, but finally tv/performance promo kicks in this weekend, she should crack the top 10

and the shocks keep on comin...shakira A Listed on radio 1 :D everything going smoothly, she has a chance like everybody else now. i want this to go top5, top3 would be a bonus but #1 is asking too much imo. lets still put our feet up, no need to do anything. also she is coming to the UK to do promo....radio 1 live lounge, jonathon ross and t4 special. i hope gmtv and loose woman too. the cd single out in 2 weeks, i hope the artwork looks good with a graphic paw print on the actual cd. if only she did a vinyl 12" pic disc of the cover :naughty:

  24. some good valid points, like they said the song is about a woman who wants carnal pleasures so it is about sex. so does the video interpret the song well, the answer is yes, especially the wild cage dancing where she mimicks a wolf, its not just sexy moves. this is the thing with shakira ther are subtleties which sets her apart from her peers. you know this straight away when she is being interviewed, she puts thought in wha she does and the evidence is in her albums but all the while operating in this commercial pop world. she is a thinker but she has the body of a lap dancer. it doesn't add up. she'd rather read books and go to museums than go shopping and attend premiers like 95% of the females in pop. they are one dimensional and easy to digest. pop stars are not meant to be intelligent or have depth too. she reminds me so much of kate bush, the way people make fun of her writing, dancing and her style of singing. she is an easy target like kate just cause no one is controlling her and we are getting some individulaity and not record company manufactured safe fodder overseen by experts. the past shakira has said she uses her sensuality in her dancing/videos. there is skin on show but why be so shocked when she has been doing this since 2002? but she is never hard with her sexuality like say madonna, shakira's is much warmer and innocent maybe cause she smiles more than madonna. also in south america you seewoman wearing "provocative" clothes on tv, on the beach and of course carnival. its seen as appropriate part of the culture.

i echo that, its juame laguna's photography  (he's her friend so she gives him work but not the greatest of photographers). its a bit muted and shaki's face washed out. we get the concept....the writings on the wall. but i prefer a better concept with more thought like DELL's cover with shakira's dirty hands (concept= she created it herself manual work, got her hands dirty etc) or LS with the tattoo (album is a part of her) or fixation baby theme as she said in interviews she was pregnant with twins and gave birth to these albums/songs. i hope it changes between now and october.
