amazing climb this week!! i think cause the media are doing music reviews of the year shakira is getting some exposure, HDL was played for 10 seconds on totp on xmas day so maybe that exposure generated sales and she jumped overall an amazing year for shakira here, the fact HDL is the #3 biggest song of the year! and she managed this with zero promo, she didn't set foot here cause of tour commitments, leona over took her cause she was a reality tv act, had a built in tv audience over a period of months, massive tv exposure, magazine exposure plus hype Top40 UK Selling singles of the Year 01. Gnarls Barkley Crazy 02. Leona A Moment Like This 03. Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean Hips Don’t Lie :cheer: 04. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' 05. Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) 06. Infernal - From Paris To Berlin 07. Nelly Furtado Maneater 08. Take That - Patience 09. Rihanna - SOS 10. Justin Timberlake - SexyBack all the other artists in the top10 came to the UK and did interviews and promo work to support the track plus the majority had huge radio airplay and suppport too, especially the scissor sisters who did a tv promo tour that lasted 3 weeks!! non stop interviews and performances on our screens and still they couldn't take shakira on :lol: she outsold them by a huge margin, if shakira had been play listed on radio 1 and came to the UK she could have easily added 100k to the final total but i'm happy with selling just under half a million

i love her voice on this track especially the beginning, they don't need to chane a thing! the throaty deep style of singing, its sexy but also edgy like a woman possessed! its got so much character, sony have to release this!! its so so strong!! they can't sleep on it, it shows another side to shakira musically...its now or never!!

what she represents is this... this culture we are living in right now where people want something for nothing, even everything for nothing, expect to get money, fame and success by doing no or little work she is the most extreme and the worst example of this! thats why she is disliked so much she has brought this ethos to music she got her record contract cause of her fame and name based on what exactly? nothing! it was not for her talent or that she is musical in any way, another factor is she broke a major rule in the music business....the way her people tried to trick the public by not making her n ever perform or sing live is outrageous! and no one would get away with that even if it wasn't paris, you can only get credibilty if you perform or at least attempt to sing live and show you are genuine, so all this time she is seen as a fake, paris doesn't belong in the music industry and never will, you can't ever respect someone that doesn't work hard to get to where they are also about rachel stevens her downfall was caused by the fact she did so much promo tv work with every single release but never once performed her songs live, she was over exposed and her dull media trained personality didn't help when she was being interviewed, the public started to wake up to her and it affected her credibilty hence her flopping and being dropped

lets not turn this into a madonna vs shakira thread they are both major A league artists that can generate huge sales as far as the biggest selling artist this year worldwide....it has been confirmed last month by music week its shakira, she is the biggest selling artist with combined sales of albums (oral fixation vol.1 and vol.2) singles and downloads, hmv website also mentions this fact too, incidentally she was also the biggest selling female in 2002 with the laundry service era

oh yes "Dude" is good great to dance too but maybe a bit basic :P i want more production with the track :P some fusion elements bring in latin sounds, its gonna be good i'm sure wyclef would have had plenty of time since shakira recorded with him to tweak the production it to make it sound better and better like shakira did tweaking la tortura for a month :cheer: gotta love tweaking

after new year i think beyonce and shakira will head to the studio to record it, i wish shakira had more time maybe she could work on the track but i think the production will stay the same as the beyonce version, she'll leave it to beyonce's vision for the song

i think it will work! the original has the reggae vibe and i don't think wyclef will take it out of this sound by making it pure hip hop he may update it, i hope we get fusion like HDL, she's in safe hands wyclef (apart from the tom jones awfulness he produced) he knows what he is doing with samples just look at his perfect use of the enya track for the fugees monster "ready or not" quality all the way, i'm sure i'm going to love "L-O-V-E"

some new news! this second single will be released on the 30th december, can't wait to see the video and how it does on the latin charts, the timing is good too, shakira will be free for a few days in early/mid january so she may join alejandro for a small tv promo tour in latin america, i can't wait to see them perform this live!

that may explain their initial reluctance to playlist the song at first but then she reached #1 and radio 1 still didn't add it? its their reluctance and stubborness that really fueled the anti shakira fire at the radio 1 head office, we can all feel it they don't like her! even a chart commentator i think james masterton or someone said he was puzzled as to why radio #1 had not playlisted the track after reaching #1 i mean even a c list would be ok but she gets nothing only being shunned! the song was popular, by reaching #1 proved that, it had staying power too which meant a wide cross section of the public were buying it, for a song to reach almost half a mill shows its not just the fanbase or a particular market is just buying it but radio 1 were so sly by getting the only rardio interview from shakira about the song reaching #1 when she was on tour in the US but they didn't playlist the track or support her, they have some nerve!!

germany loves her!! so does ireland i hope they get a date they really did so well by making HDL #1 too, she'll come to london!! they just need to sort out the tickets situation as soon as its done ticketmaster will start selling

we have an official title, the song is called "Pure Intuition" the song has been previewed at promosquad in HQ, it sounds amazing the lyrics are strong and poetic, sony has to release it!! Its a monster waiting to happen!! i'd sacrifice "animal city" being released for this, its that good and definately commercially stronger, it won't struggle at all

i've been trying to work it out for a long time, its got to be cause she is foreign as in she's not from north america so she is considered to be "world" and specifically cause english is not her first language, they have a problem with that, its a combination of all these or it could be something more sinsiter like someone high up in radio1 has just said "we won't play her" for some reason based on what? we will never know it could be prejudice the reason i say it could be an unreasonable personal reason (which is completely unfair!) is cause they have played ricky martin and enrique and they are from south america and english isn't their first language so why not shakira? i forgot daddy yankee singing in spanish and he gets played!! even when she teamed up with wyclef an artist they have A listed before may times she doesn't get A, B or C listed so something dodgy is going on at radio1 concerning her, they will playlist "beautiful liar" cause its a beyonce track featuring shakira cause beyonce always gets A listed like Nelly like Pink like Xtina like Kylie like Madonna everyone of them get listed but the biggest selling female act this year is ignored!
