Sunday Chart Predictions
imo there is abit of pressure on Will, he has to do well with his album and he has to keep up momentum with singles and hopes one is a big hit going top3 with legs. if he can do that then his album should have a healthy chart run. low single sales (say like mcfly) can be sacrificed as long as the record company can make money from the album and his record company seem to think he is as an album selling artist. it would be interesting to see what happens in this era for him.

i agree too, clear the frickin dead wood. played to DEATH!! to the DEATH!! and whats this?? kings of leon only at its number #40! whats their problem with it!? ffs play the damn song and reflect public opinion!! oh no its hips don't lie all over again well almost at least radio1 play listed them

Sunday Chart Predictions
all hail the kings! doin the double i see, they have what all acts dream of...a great strong lead single that attracts the all important downloaders and at the same time are an album selling act and how!! james morrison seems to be going the same way as james blunt and may end up being an albums selling act with his singles making minimal impact. will young seems to need physicals to get top5. in this week chart we should see a true representation of mcly's latest single's popularity amongst the wider public after the fanbase multibuy of last week. if they can just remain in the top10 then they might get a lil bit of respect. over for the feeling? going the same way as the darkness and the magic numbers & hard fi? bands that can't repeat past album success, one album wonders?

Top 200 Singles / Albums + Compilation Chart
interesting.....katy and PCD deny mcfly "lies" aka B.O.N "boys" rip off. interesting to follow cliff's descent in his 2nd week as he is another act like mcfly who is fanbase only driven that rely heavily physicals and don't appeal to downloaders. both have very weak legs and can't hang around in the top10 however he managed to stay top15 with no radio 1 support. the mums and nans having an impact on the chart  so the question is how will mcfly fare next week? will cliff end up having a better chart run?

McFly Pull Out All The Stops For 'Lies'
we are entitled to our opinons FFS and its not personal, imo its about 3 factors....its not just about the hard sell tactics that reek of desperation but its can also be the songs which some may dislike and finally their chart performance (sales and runs). for once we would like them to do what the majority of the acts in the chart are doing and not include so many version and TRY to rely on the strength of the song and NOT getting your young fanbaseto buying multiple versions, they should be ashamed of themselves taking childrens pocket money like this every time. pure exploitation. if any other act was doing what they were doing we would be talking about it and being critical too....no exceptions!! the final factor is their chart performance and after all this is a chart forum and they are more than worthy of criticism cause their chart runs and sales are nothing less than c**p compared to most tracks that reach the top5 especially the ones that have long and healthy chart runs.

Sunday Chart Predictions
great news kings of leon are holding off the mcfly assault of 3 cds for £5, text downloads and the many store signings plus the multi buying that goes on everytime by their fanbase. it would be sweet if they got denied again ;) imo the track is terrible but worse than that they clearly rip off BON "boys" chorus, call the lawyers listen hear.... ge2oeAnPQIc

Predict: Leona Lewis - Forgive Me
her fanbase will take her to #1 not because its a good track or a memorable one at that, imo she isn't distinctive at all, she is still a karaoke queen. can emulate mariah, whitney and now...on this song at times she sings like toni braxton, deblah morgan and deborah cox all wrapped up in a mariah carey type video. very americanized totally tailoured to that market.

Shakira new hot unseen pictures

What went wrong...
i know, its so sad to see. how good can you f*** up an album and era by choosing the wrong releases. i tell you what went wrong..."migrate" should have been released and made priority. ideally it should have come 1st but we all thought ok let TMB do its thing, its fun and playful track and it got to number1 so its all good. then it will be time to migrate? but no we get the downtempo 2nd release pattern trying to follow EOM formula, but why bye bye? its not as good as ISIL. BB was too obvious with its sentimentality and as many of us wrote it was no WBT. ok so 3rd release, its definately time to migrate? but we get IBLYL. there are much better tracks and fresher sounding ones. this song is very 90s and too slick, it has no edge its very smooth too smooth and not a song for these times. where as migrate has that fresh futuristic sound that perfect fusion of hip hop and r'n'b, its got hot rapper t-pain to attract the urban market too. the production is flawless and mariah soulful sultry voice over the tough beat is just perfect. and then those passionate vocal ad libs at the end! chills i tell u!! its EPIC!! mariah at her best!! but sadly it will end up as a hidden gem. i blame the decision makers 100%. its not about bad videos or bad promo but bad singles!! sony f***ed up! it could have gone so much better and still could but they got idiots working over there who don't understand this album and its strengths.

Music industry: The party's over. Haven't they heard?
there is a definately a slowing down. radio and tv need to showcase new or upcoming tracks better, cut the dead wood quicker. if an acts has a hit single then radio 1 will most likely playlist the follow up so we get the same acts hanging around fuelling the previous single cause the awareness is on them squeezing out new upcoming talent which should be taking that slot. the record companies are complaining cause they aren't making as much money as they used too but they are making a profit its just less and they are pissed off its not like the 80s or 90s. and they should be worried cause it'll get worse for them. not only do they have to deal with online sharing but i think artists will move away from them too and do it all by themselves. radiohead and prince knew the money was in touring and not music sales. its a definate sign of the times when an all out pop act sets up their own label like mcfly. even jane mcdonald set up her own record company . anyone can do it, its no big deal cause these acts know the theory goes that they "make profit from touring" to cover the cost of the album and hopefully fund the next album, however they have alot of pressure to sell out venues the bigger the better. a big international act like radiohead and prince need not worry they are in a different league. but mcfly and jane will have to do lots of radio/tv promo to get awareness and it doesn't cost them much cause its about them just turning up. but they won't spend money like record companies do on tv/radio/print advertising with big budget promo. making profit from album sales is a bonus for them. the album is a now a tool to go touring. its a good thing that its becoming more about live music and putting the emphasis on the tour. some manufactured pop acts are going to really suffer if they can't cut it live.

Will The Script hit #1?
its ok, pleaseant enough, nice melody not showy but not rubbish, its like sting meets snow patrol meets one republic, i wonder if this is trying to mimic "chasing cars" success. i think it will hang around for a long time

Sunday Chart Predictions
poor mcfly only have their fanbase not the wider public buying them unlike like the rest of the top10 which has both. looks like being worst chart run of the year. but wait it could get worse with the follow up singles. after all they have been given away free, i wouldn't be surprised if the text downloads came back every single release at 25p each or less, also 3 cds for 99p or less  maybe 5 cds next time? the kings of desperation tactics

Predict - How far will McFly fall next week? :)
once again their exploitation of their fanbase (making them multibuy) have given them an over inflated chart position, so next week we should see a true representation of the song's actual popularity. i hope its out of the top10 :arrr:

The Buzzjack Sunday Chart Show Thread

Sunday Chart Predictions
how's dizzee's lead over mcfly? is it convincing or not so much? i'm a bit dubious about believing the hmv c**k up until i hear it officially confirmed by hmv or an independent party. hearing it from the mcfly camp isn't good enough. hmv have never had problems before with the 3 cds offer so why now? its sounds like an excuse or a sly justification to launch the 2 txt single offers to boost their sales cause they lost the lead and have fallen to #2. sounds like dodgy tactics to me <_<

iTunes Download Chart July '08
an easy number #1 for katy perry, no question no doubt

Sunday Chart Predictions
excellent update, downloaders and the wider public helping dizzee out :cheer: hope he stays steady till sunday, come on dizzee use mama's strong legs hold on to #1!! i can't believe mcfly's hard sell desperation tactics, its so shameless. i wonder how many of their fans will buy all 3 singles and text downloads, these kids poor pocket money going to them. pure exploitation of their young fanbase! no wonder mcfly aren't taken seriously its all about marketing again not the quality of the songs. just accept not getting a number #1!! <_<

'I Kissed A Girl' • Début Single
hey chipwhich i have a few questions for you.... can you appreciate some of the better manufactured pop music? or do you dislike all of it? do you appreciate the pop genre and can distinguish objectively between what is "good" or "bad" or is your opinion subjective only? as in your personal taste. can you not see manufactured song like britney spears "baby one more time" and kylie "can't get you out of my head" are some of the best examples of pop music that music critics have praised aswell as the wider public? i think if you or anyone only likes or listens to one musical genre then your view is maybe narrow and biased against another musical genre and the better tracks within it. of course there is bad pop music that is generic, cheesy, bland and forgettable, i can give you a long list. but this song is clearly none of these if you look at it objectively. this song has one of the qualities you look for in great pop song being "distinctive". i'm not trying to change your mind you are entitled to your opinion.

'Just Dance' (feat. Colby O'Donis) ● 1st Single Thread
what a great great track, a superior pop trackl!! its got so much going on to hold your attention. its a mix of electro pop, disco with a retro 80s feel. all blending perfectly together! a feel good thumping track to dance too. i really hope this gets the recognition and sales it deserves in the US. she sounds part christna aguilera part gwen stefani like their cooler fresher younger sister.

Sunday Chart Predictions
fanbases can only get you so far, i'd say all the number #1s this year appeal to the wider public not just fanbases they are a combination of both, some more loaded towards the wider public (especially the ones with healthy long chart runs). some acts have minimal fanbases becuase they are "new" or not established, case in point basshunter and tings tings. the thing is most of the top40 acts don't have to rely on "mcfly" tactics in order to sell and appeal, so it is a pretty level playing field, many songs get to the top based on "merit" and especially the ones that last more than a week at the top. they have the potential to be "classics" of this year. dizzee number 1 position is worthy cause he appeals to the wider public not just to his limited fanbase, he managed to get huge sales based on the former and the fact he did little promo makes it even more impressive. getting his easy #1 was based on the strength of the track. in contrast mcfly's last few singles are totally forgettable, the lowest selling #1s of the year and never played again on the radio cause they don't appeal to the wider public (another example of not appealing to the wider public is a weak performance on itunes).i think mcfly like many boy bands of the past have to rely on image and looks (to hook in the kids) and the all important teenage girls (they fancy them) to buy their stuff and not because the music is any "good". also check the context....this is chart forum we are judging them on their dire chart runs too, which are dire. thats a fact not an opinion. and in my opinion this song is rubbish and totally forgettable and totally not worthy of being #1 if the wider public don't embrace it :arrr:

Sunday Chart Predictions
this also might explain things about mcfly's lead, they did cd signings yesterday (deja vu anyone?? how many times have they done this?) at 2 locations and will be doing more this week. they always do these tactics to get sales, desperate much? reeks! poor dizzee with the better track that appeals to the wider public has a BIG battle against them maybe too much to cope with their onslaught. but the good news is we could see a horrific drop next week  how horrific? bring on next week!
