  1. Surprised nobody latched onto this new single by MARUV :o Not sure why the dislikes though and from the translation it seems they are a bit p*ssed with the imagery going too far but I'm living for the provocation here

I guess this is still on topic because she almost represented Ukraine in 2019?

  3. Hi uhsting!

Nice to see "NDA" and "Marea" get new peaks and the under 50 songs like "Kiss My (Uh Oh)", "Cloudy Day", "Musketiere" and "Stars" on here!

    Great chart!

Hi Sergej! Great to know you like a few songs in the top 50 and outside of top 50! NDA is an amazing song from Billie Eilish and you will see more of her songs next week. MAREA was discovered in PFSC thanks to Jade and it is such a banger!

    ย

Welcome back! Giving your #1 a listen now, a nice little ballad, I'm sure it will grow on me as well. In fact your chart appears even more non-mainsteam than it used to be, I can only count four other songs in your chart I've heard! I do quite enjoy the AURORA song though. Great chart!

I was thinking of sending this to BJSC but reckon ballads don't do quite well in BJSC so I didn't pick it in the end. It is such a good ballad and the drums elevated the song to the next level. Huge thanks to Spotify for digging up new music releases, I am able to find more niche songs, and songs that did not receive enough attention. Plus, now that I have more time, I might be able to incorporate more songs from different song contests for listening in the next few weeks!

  5. Hey, not much I actually know but I'm ecstatic to see Cloudy Day here. It's a shame this released at the exact same time Fly Away took off again.

Hi James! Cloudy Day is perhaps the best song of Tones & I for me. She has a unique style and voice. She often has a good ear for melodies. However, the structure and instrumentation in a lot of her songs are often a miss for me but this builds up well and I like the choice of instruments in this one. Hopefully it will grow even more!

    Hi, uhsting!

    ย

I really like Dawn and Ready To Love from your chart! Great chart ^_^

Just as I thought Matisse & Sadko is transitioning to progressive trance, they released a progressive house banger with Dawn :o The melody of the drop is everything and I'm all for progressive house tracks with strong drop melodies! Alex Aris is always fantastic as a vocalist for EDM tracks. Ready To Love is a good track by KSHMR but hasn't quite grown on me yet.

    Number One Entry

This is high quality. Her voice is silky smooth and the instrumentation is soothing. I especially enjoy the choruses in this song as they bring about variation to this relaxing song and make the song sound epic. Lubiana also plays a special instrument here in the video which makes the instrumentation quite unique! The melody and flow grabs my attention and is a huge reason why this song is at no. 1 this week.

This reminds me of Christopher Nolan's soundtracks in his films, particularly Inception and Interstellar. The introspective vibe always gets me and it is intimate. Chiara Dubey was also a participant in Switzerland's national final to Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Her artistry grew a lot after her participation and honestly I think she should try again to represent Switzerland in Eurovision in the future. Songs like this should give Switzerland a respectable finish, especially this! This sounds like a potential winner for me!

I always like Orla Gartland's songs. They are fun and the instrumentation is relatively simple. This is no exception. It didn't quite grab me in the first few listens but it definitely grew this week. The chorus is memorable because I'm not special so stop calling me out for that of the shouting at the background and the accompanying electric guitar. Orla Gartland is destined for something big!

    One to Watch

This ticks in every box of what I would expect in a decent pop entry. It has a good melody, has great-sounding synths, and a good buildup. Honestly, I have no idea why this has less than 200 views because it sounds quite big to me. I hope more people will discover this great pop song or maybe send it to BJSC please? and give the credits they deserve!

  7. Hi Sergej! From the new entries I like Don't Go Yet and Holiday. The latter is definitely KSI's best song and glad it is doing quite well without collaborating with anyone. MAREA jumps even higher to top 10. It is such an earworm and the instrumentation is brilliant!
  8. Hi James! Remember is still in the top 3 and Electric is back in the top 10! After my long break here, drivers license is still at top 10. This is surely the debut single you want to have as an artist. It is so good! Elsewhere, glad to see Ariana and the Rose releasing another new song, so definitely giving it a listen!

Hi Ken! EDM is doing quite well recently. I enjoy Okay from the new entries, Ready To Love in the rising songs! YOASOBI most recently released a song called Monster (coincidentally almost the same song name as Dynoro's lol) which I think you might like it. Let me know your thoughts on this ;)
  10. Hi Toffo! I enjoy Don't Go Yet and Monster from the new entries. They are pretty decent songs and I could see them doing fairly well commercially. Prioritise Pleasure at no. 1 is a big YAS for me!! It is the anthem of the year and I'm glad I'm not the only one who think it is a banger!!!
  11. Hi Jade! Happy to see MAREA and YA doing quite well in the chart. YA grew on me a lot after a few more listens and I would surely have pointed it more had BJSC gone on for longer! Loving Industry Baby here and Gaia is a special song. Glad it was presented on BJSC!
  12. Hey Patrick! I like to see Oxytocin debutting the highest this week! Easily one of the best songs in her latest album for me. Happier Than Ever didn't quite click for me though. Don't Go Yet and Industry Baby are both great entries too but I'm more surprised seeing Charlie here. :o This song is one of the best songs earlier in the year, so I'm glad to see it's getting recognition now!

  14. Really enjoyed listening to the reactions from people to these questions, thank you for so many responses! ^_^

    ย

I was just wondering if it was a good or bad practice to post potentials before a contest in the hope that someone else may pick a winning entry from the selections. I donโ€™t generally do this but I see others do it sometimes. Iโ€™m not sure if it would cause me more conflict if someone picked a song I rated below another potential. I know it can feel good sharing with others to get feedback, but sometimes itโ€™s just as fun and risky to send something to a contest and see what the reaction from everyone is.

Doesn't seem like posting potentials to see what people think would give you an advantage from my experience -- all of them resulted in a DNQ, hence I must resist doing so in the future  I think the main takeaway is that believe in your ability to pick a song and sometimes your own personal judgement is exactly what people think. ;)
