  1. Besides one hit wonders, only previous artists I can think of with 100% strike rate are Robson & Jerome and Bob The Builder :-)

No exact ties I can recall. The Deeelite/Steve Miller Band battle was decided on the basis that SMB had a greater increase in sales, which were the rules at the time. A recount put SMB 8 sales ahead. The rules were changed shortly after to allow chart ties again. In August 2007, Kate Nash was just 16 sales behind Timbaland, which I believe is the closest we've had since
  3. Think Amarillo should be at the top as it is exactly the same recording as the original, despite the Peter Kay credit. It is also 34 years, not 24 years - 1971 original - 2005 finally made No. 1 :-)
  4. In 1996, Robert Miles 'Children' did more than both 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by Oasis and 'How Deep Is Your Love' by Take That. Oasis may well have caught up since. Also in 2000, Baha Men stalled at 2 twice, behind both Steps and estlife, but ended up as the 4th best seller of the year!
  5. My first No. 1 was Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star in 1979. Remember being fascinated as a 7 year old with the Radio 1 chart with Tony Blackburn.. stayed with it ever since. Crikey.. 40 years , where does the time go? It's been a long fascinating journey though - through the electric 80s, the dawn of the CD single and the manic mid 90s where we got around 15 new entries each week, onto the download era and now streaming. I haven't enjoyed much of the music in the last few years, but I guess it's not aimed at me. The charts themselves remain a weekly fix and source of fascination :-)

I would say if it's marketed properly, it could be Abba. I'm sure it was announced they were releasing two new tracks in December. May not do much on streaming, but could do big things physically .... :)
