  2. Sorry for the delay in posting this, but I've been pretty busy the last few weeks. These are the results on the declared result, however if any changes are made by the F1 authorities over Alonso's spectacular overtaking move on Massa they will be amended. 14. The battered, upright Challen instrument is covered in coffee stains and cigarette burns, and would only be worth a few hundred pounds if not for its assocation with the London studio. The Fab Four used it on Paperback Writer, Tomorrow Never Knows, Old Brown Shoe and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. It was bought by the studio in 1964 and was used for 20 years by many other bands including Pink Floyd. It was retired in 1980 and obtained by the current owner who is selling it at Bonhams auction house in London. With a third pedal for the "tack" effect, the instrument was housed in Studio III - the smallest of the three studios. Also in the sale are various copies of The Beatles Book magazine, which include photographs of Paul McCartney at the piano. One snap shows McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Beatles' producer George Martin all at the Challen. Stephen Maycock, the consultant specialist for Beatles memorabilia at Bonhams, said: "This was the piano in Studio III at Abbey Road. "Studio I was enormous and could be used for orchestral recording, Studio II was the next largest and was where the Beatles recorded most of their output. "Studio III was the smallest and the Beatles regularly used it and we know they recorded certain songs there using the piano. "It was also used by other bands including Pink Floyd and without its association with the studios it would be worth a very modest sum. "I think it is the first instrument from the Abbey Road studios to come on the open market. "It was bought in 1964 and retired in 1980. It is a bit battered and is covered in stains and cigarette burns. "The piano was just a tool of the trade and it has been used and abused - but that gives it character. "It still plays although it would perhaps benefit from a professional tuner having a listen. Challen is a good make, not a Steinway or anything, but a good make. "Abbey Road is famous worldwide and there are lots of people who would love to have the piano because of its association with the Beatles. "Pink Floyd recorded their album Wish You Were Here in Studio III so the piano is likely to have been used on that." The sale at Bonhams is on August 15. Abbey Road studios opened for business in 1931 and early recordings included Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 5 conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. At the end of 2009, the studios came under threat of sale to property developers, but they received historic site status from the government in 2010 to protect it. Source: Daily telegraph

  17. In the continued absence of our excellent game host and scoremaster (This is Pop) I have tried to put the scores together for the last GP, the British GP. Feel free to check my figures as I might be incorrect, but i did check them twice. I used the last forecast we all made as an entry for the British GP. If you feel it is not worth continuing in his absence then let me know? If you want to continue I will try and present the scores, or if one of you would like to take on the mantle then I have no problem, as I am not on BJ as much as I used to be.
