Pussycat Dolls In Blender Magazine
Real Dolls The Pussycat Dolls are the world’s sexiest burlesque squad, but that’s not enough. So, along with muscle-sculpting workouts and body-hugging latex, they’ve added some new twists to tone their insides: reincarnation and a guru who gives out hugs. By Deborah Schoeneman Back when PCD were an L.A. burlesque troupe with residencies at the Viper Room and the Roxy, Carmen Electra, Pam Anderson and Christina Applegate—who used to room with the group’s founder, Robin Antin—took on gigs as honorary Dolls. In 2002, Gwen Stefani brought Interscope Records honchos Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair to a show and, soon after, the label signed them, shaking up the personnel and re-envisioning PCD as a pop sextet. Their 2005 debut melded slithery, contemporary R&B to the sort of single entendres a housewife might say to her pool boy in a soft-core porno. It went on to sell 7 million copies worldwide. The question eternally on Antin’s mind is how to keep “growing the brand.” There’s still a PCD troupe that dances at the Pussycat Dolls lounge at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas; a new lounge opens in late September in West Hollywood. “I want to get Victoria Beckham to perform at the opening, people are so fascinated with her,” Antin says. She oversees all things PCD, so she’s here at the photo studio. A lingerie line, a denim line, a CW reality show, lounges—those have come easy, too. But here’s a taller order: Each of the girls wants to go solo. “It’s what we’ve been waiting for,” Kimberly says. “We all want individual success.” Doll Domination, each Pussycat gets her own song. But as recent experience reveals, it’s not easy to pull a Gwen and cut loose from the pack. Last year, Nicole Scherzinger was supposed to launch her own solo career with Her Name Is Nicole—after two singles flopped, the project was shelved. “I decided to hold off,” Nicole says, although that decision was obviously made for her. An elemental rule of showbiz is, if you trip, keep smiling. As she recalls her solo stumble, she’s positively beaming: “I didn’t want to lose the momentum of the PCD. That train’s been moving so fast.” “It’s not that she didn’t have good songs,” says will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas mastermind who produced the song “Beep” on PCD’s first album. “The reason that Nicole didn’t take off was bad planning. No one knew Nicole was going to put out a record, because they didn’t develop her as an individual when the Pussycat Dolls were at their height, the way we did with Fergie.” In other words: no humps, no glory. “We want the world to get to know them separately, but the bottom line is that the fans see what they want to see,” says Antin, 47, who used to dance with the Dolls but gave up the spotlight when they started recording. Recently, Antin has been offering her charges a new kind of advice: spiritual. “We’ve all gotten into this book, Many Lives, Many Masters. It’s about reincarnation, finding your soul mate, and people who are in your lives for a reason,” Antin says. The Doll world is a closed one—12-hour workdays leave little time for civilian friends, and the group celebrates birthdays and holidays together—meaning they take all this “for a reason” stuff very seriously. “I think we all knew each other in a different life,” Melody says. Evidence for this includes: She and Ashley each play with their hair the exact same way, and a psychic once confirmed their eternal bond to Jessica. NEW KIDS On The Block SLAM BACKSTREET BOYS
http://a560.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/32/l_4ce573d74a9728870c7b37d8990a7dff.jpg Newly reformed NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK have hit out at fellow boyband BACKSTREET BOYS - insisting their comeback will be much more successful. Backstreet Boys have taken several breaks from the music scene throughout their career, and each time their return has failed to replicate the success of their heyday in the 1990s. New Kids On The Block recently reunited after 15 years away from the pop market, but they insist that their comeback will eclipse the recent efforts of the Backstreet Boys. Singer Danny Wood says, "Backstreet's records sound the same as before - their music didn't evolve like ours has. They never spoke too highly of us and said if we had talent we'd still be around. They should've probably kept their mouths shut!"

New Melody Thornton Interview
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/CarlbeepScott/ThePussycatDollsMelodyThorntonAllDo.jpg TXT Back - Pussycat Dolls How hard is it to get five hot and often scantily clad girls in a room to chat? Near impossible as Emmanuel Ezugwu found out when he sat down with Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls to pitch your questions... RWD: Where’s everyone else? (Laughs). Well I’ve just not long woken up and the rest of the girls are really tired. We stayed up all night, last night in the studio recording. Pedro: We hope it’s worth a severe lack of sleep - how’s it sounding? It’s called Doll Domination. We’re still recording and we have been very blessed to work with Timbaland, who has been amazing and he executive produced half of the album. We’ve done six songs in six days, so when you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll. We’ve worked with Cee-Lo who we worked with on the first album on Don’t Cha and we’ve worked with Sean Garrett who wrote Buttons. We also worked with Rodney Jerkins who did our first single When I Grow Up. We have a lot of diverse songs that would surprise a lot of people that don’t think the Pussycat Dolls can pull off. RWD: With Carmit leaving the group and Nicole’s failed solo attempt, how is the morale in PCD? Well to clarify one thing I don’t think Nicole had any intentions of leaving the group. She was definitely pursuing and making a solo effort, but her intentions were definitely to do both. Fergie did the same thing with her solo album. Carmit decided to leave the group and she is a very creative person and we have lost a major asset to the Pussycat Dolls because she was a firecracker on stage. But I personally talk to her all the time. RWD: Were you shocked when Carmit told you she wanted to leave? Yeah, I was. It came as a surprise to me because I knew that she had a number of things that she was working on, where she couldn’t do both at the same time. She couldn’t devote time to the Pussycat Dolls and still make everything else that she wanted to do a success - but it came out of nowhere. I still get sad when we perform songs like Stick Wit Chu because we recorded all of them together, but... Caolan (pronounced Key-Lin): Will any of the songs from Her Name is Nicole, be re-recorded by you? I don’t know because Nicole recorded loads of songs for her solo effort so you never know what songs may end up on the album. But, like I said we’re not done recording yet. Ella: Do you have any collaborations on Doll Domination? Well we have done a collaboration with R Kelly in a song called Outta This Club but we’re still recording so I’m not sure what’s set in stone. But the possibilities are endless and we’re definitely trying to work with new people on the album. RWD: You’ve got an amazing voice but a constant criticism is that no one seems to share singing duties apart from Nicole. How will the singing be shared out on the album this time? Well first of all I want to say thank you to all the fans more then anything. Sometimes they send me blogs and they seem to know exactly what I’m feeling and they know exactly what to say. They support me so much, and that means more then anything. I am recording more now then I did on the first album. On the first album I was very young and inexperienced, so it’s understandable that they wanted to give Nicole the responsibility as she had been in two groups prior. But we’re definitely working on it and I appreciate you saying that comment as well. All of us are recording songs, so we’ll see if they make it. Louise: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been sent by a fan? Well luckily I haven’t had anyone figure out where I live, so no one sent anything to me directly but we’ve gotten weird tasting candy. It’s not like we don’t appreciate it, but some of them are awkward gifts. I haven’t had anything too crazy, like I got a teddy bear but when you squeeze it, it laughs and cackles like a witch and I was like ‘Ok, thank you!’ RWD: Do you think you’re sending out a positive message on When I Grow Up for being famous for famous sake? Yeah, that’s the one thing that we’ve been asked over and over again and I can only speak for myself. I never wanted to be famous, I always said I wanted to be a singer and with singing comes fame and even if I wasn’t famous for being a trendsetter, I would still like to be appreciated as a vocalist for the music I make. I think that nowadays with reality TV there’s so many outlets for people to gain more attention and exposure and we get a lot of people who just want to be famous. But I think we still have to show our appreciation to people creating their art and music. Courtney W: What’s the hardest thing to deal with being a Pussycat Doll? One of the worst things is privacy and people making negative preconceived notions about you just from looking at you because you’re a Pussycat Doll. People don’t realise that the Pussycat Dolls are a brand. So it’s hard sometimes when people pass comments and make rude judgments about you when they don’t even know you. RWD: There’s been a whole lot of speculation about you dating Bow Wow and Nicole dating Lewis Hamilton. Well I don’t think it’s my place to talk about Nicole and Lewis’s relationship but she has confirmed that she is with Lewis Hamilton and I’m so happy for them but that’s as far as I’ll go on that topic. But as for Bow Wow, we are just friends. I think he’s a wonderful person, he’s just a great friend of mine and that’s about it. When I Grow Up is out 8 September. A Brand New Jessica Interview
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/KewLLady/jessicasutta_pussycatdolls_5.jpgJessica Sutta from The Pussycat Dolls Interview With NewNowNext! The Pussycat Dolls' sophomore album, Doll Domination, comes out September 23, and all I can say is I've never been so excited about p*ssy(cats) in my life! I have a documented obsession with "When I Grow Up" and with the PCD girls, in general - I'm not alone ... you gays know "Buttons" is classic - so I'm expecting campy greatness next month. Earlier this week, I chatted with the Dolls' sexy resident redhead, Jessica Sutta. Along with her PCD videos and performances, Jess has collaborated with dance music maven Paul Van Dyk, and, of course, she loves her gays! Jessica and I chatted about PCD's mega-gay following and the time her own drag impersonator took her down in a game of f***** Feud - she even gave a preview of her solo track on the upcoming album! What do gay men mean to the Pussycat Dolls? Where would you be without us? I think it’s when you have a huge gay following, you know you’re successful. They’re the best audience; they’re the best fans; and – you know what? – in high school, they were my only friends. So I owe everything to the gay men. Oh, right - 'cause you've been a dancer forever. Since I was three. And I went to the New World School of The Arts, and my major was dance. Girl dancers are always the worst, and I didn’t really get along with them! But I always had my boys. Other than straight men who think you guys are hot, what do people love about the Pussycat Dolls? I couldn't know this, but I think you're very empowering to women... You know? I believe it’s female empowerment: five girls who love what they do. And we try to inspire women to follow their dreams. But I feel there's the gay following too. We’re empowering them to be who they are and to never regret anything they’ve done in their lives ... to just go forward and live the way they want to live. And it’s funny, back in the day at The Viper Room, you would think the straight men would come. No - it was gay men and women who were in the front row! [laughs.] You had your celebrities who would be there – you know, the guy celebrities – but other than that, we’ve always had more of a women and gay men following. And why do gay men like the PCDs so much? They appreciate it. It’s something that’s eye-catching and it’s fun - and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. I think that’s one of the things that attracts people to the Pussycat Dolls. Now, did you play "f***** Feud" a little while back at xl in New York? Yes! We were so bad at it too! We played against the p*ssy-less Dolls. It was awesome. It was the funniest thing ever, but they beat us really bad. So they’re a drag queen troupe that performs as you guys? Yes. They had each version of us. And it was awesome, but, of course, my girl beat me, so… I’m ready to do it again! Do the Jessica drag queens ever get it exactly right? Ehh… I haven’t seen one yet get it right. I have a couple of friends in Miami that go to the shows and they’ll say, “There’s this girl; she dresses like you; she’s awesome.” And then I can’t wait to come to town and see. I’m totally gonna, like, size her up, “OK, let me see your lips.” [laughs.] So what would your tips be for a Jessica drag queen? OK. I really like black eyeliner. You have to get the cat-liner right. That’s important ... and really nice lashes. And I like red lipstick, so line your lips really well… And now I have bangs, so get the bangs right. Oh, yeah - I love you’re the PCD redhead now. I know! I love being a redhead. I’m officially Jessica Rabbit. And I read the money from f***** Feud, you guys donated that to the Ali Forney Center [for homeless LGBT youth]. That's so awesome. Oh, I know. I’m getting goose bumps just thinking about it right now. Growing up, I lived in Miami, and, like I said, a lot of my friends were gay. And one of my really good friends, his dad was trying to beat the gay out of him one night - and I saw him the next day, and it just broke my heart because … it disgusts me how people are towards... They’re so stupid. They think they can change somebody’s way of life, and that’s just ridiculous. So that charity was really close to my heart; it was something personal that I had gone through. To spread that awareness - that you have to be who you are and not listen to other people – is just so important to me. Now LOGO's been playing the dance video you did with Paul Van Dyk for a while now. What drew you to that project? Was it the dance music? Or Paul himself? Oh, it was everything. I love dance music. That’s the music I listen to, primarily. I’d been doing music with DJ Dave Aude – he’s got a couple hits out there – and I guess Paul found out through the grapevine and then was like, Well, can Jessica do a song with me? And I was like, Heck, yeah! You know, coming from Miami, it was such a huge dance background. I was like, For sure. So we collaborated, and it was awesome. It was the best experience ever. I really want to do dance music in the future. It was so fun to hear your vocals too. You guys mostly do backup for PCD... Thank you! It was fun to hear them too. [laughs.] But you know what? On the next album, I actually have a song called “If I Was a Man” – on the extended album. So make sure to get that! Oh, right! You guys each get a solo track? Yeah, this go-around we did. "If I Was a Man"? What would you do? What are some of the lyrics? Well the chorus is, “If I was a man, just for a day - I’d take my time on you, that’s what I man would do.” And then, “Fun Monday night, Tuesday night, Friday night - every night! Why? ‘Cause I can. New York and Japan – with a stop off in Milan. After all, I’m a man. ... I’ll get to know you’re family, get your friends to fall in love with me. It happens just so easily.” So it just talks about, you know, taking on the other side – if you’ve been treated bad in a relationship – taking their side and treating them the way that they treated you. I can’t wait to do it live. You'll perform it in concert? You’ll each get to do your own tracks? Yeah! That’s what’s going to happen. It’s going to be so much fun. I can’t wait. As far as Doll Domination, if it's another PCD I'll be ecstatic, but is there anything really different about it? It’s definitely a different album. It has a lot more R&B influence to it and a lot more ballads. And it just shows a really grown-up side to the Pussycat Dolls. And it’s going be great for the live show, ‘cause we have PCD, which has more of a pop element, and then we’ll have this. So it’s just going to show how well-rounded the Pussycat Dolls can be. For the "When I Grow Up" video - those dance moves were intense! What was it like shooting? That scaffolding number - when we were on Hollywood Blvd. – that took about a day to shoot. And they didn’t get any permits to close off the streets of Hollywood. It was actually a random construction site that we went to. So when they would shoot, they would just stop the traffic! And then we would do the number, and if you messed up you were just sooo screwed, because they weren’t gonna take it – and then they’d let traffic through. So it was a really intense day. Wow ... I was going to ask if you caused any accidents, but it's good to hear they stopped traffic. [laughs.] I hope not! I hope no one got injured. I've seen you dance on a lot of things: poles, chairs, scaffolding... What’s your favorite prop to dance with? Personally, I really love to dance on a ballet bar. It’s really fun. Like in "Buttons"! Yeah. I kind of have that idea for my video if I get to shoot a video for “If I Was a Man.” It’s fun to, like, move around with it, and you can get into quirky positions - and you can dip and… jump on it… Good times. Oh! Stripper poles are fun too. I’m ordering one for my house. I get it next week. I can’t wait. You’re getting one installed? I’m getting one installed. Gosh… What is my mother gonna think? http://www.newnownext.com/2008/08/jessica-sutta-f.html#more
