  1. http://www.dontmiss.fr/userfiles/Image/leona-lewis-pa_4721135.jpg Leona Lewis turns back the clock to top US charts The television talent show winner Leona Lewis is poised to become the first British woman to top the US pop chart for more than 20 years. Not since Kim Wilde, who scored a transatlantic hit with her version of You Keep Me Hangin’ On, has a British woman provided the song that all America is humming. :cheer: The rise of Lewis, a former receptionist in Hackney, East London, has changed all that, earning her membership of an exclusive club that Amy Winehouse and Dame Shirley Bassey have yet to join. Industry sources say that Bleeding Love, Lewis’s first US single, has halted the charge of Madonna and bumped the R&B singer Usher off the top of the Billboard Hot 100, after a surge in download sales. An endorsement by Oprah Winfrey on nationwide television sent Lewis, 22, soaring to the top. The Hot 100 will be unveiled in New York today. Topping the US charts is no guarantee of longevity, however. Wilde did not trouble the US compilers after her 1987 success and pursued a career in gardening. Her predecessor, Sheena Easton, was briefly reinvented by Prince as a sex symbol after her pomp in the early Eighties, but transferred her talents to stage musicals. American radio and the MTV network have become hostile to British rock and pop, preferring “nu-metal”, rap and glamorous homegrown R&B stars such as Beyoncé. Most of Lewis’s new download-buying American fans do not know that she shot to fame as the winner of ITV1’s X Factor in 2006, or even that she is British. Bleeding Love was the biggest-selling British single last year. Simon Cowell, Lewis’s manager, took her to the US and negotiated a £5 million album contract with the music mogul Clive Davis, who signed Whitney Houston. She was sent to record with top US producers and a slick video designed for MTV was filmed for Bleeding Love. Lewis soon began appearing in US entertainment “ones to watch” lists. Her breakthrough came this month with television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Winfrey’s nationwide chatshow. After earning a standing ovation with her Oprah performance, the host told Lewis: “You’re the real-deal girl. Talk about a star is born.” Download and mobile phone track sales soared. A strong lineup of British female singers is now hoping to emulate Lewis. There is a buzz over the Welsh singer Duffy, and Adele and Kate Nash are also hoping to make inroads. Winehouse has sold 1.5 million copies of her Back To Black album in the US, but has not topped the singles chart despite her Grammy awards. source: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol...icle3627676.ece
  2. I choose to believ that madonna have got some hot song on her new album that could becomea no.1 hit in the usa. How could would that be to see madonna back at no.1 again since ""Music" right??
  3. I believe that 4 Minutes to save the world2 could become madonna's first top 10 hit in the usa since....erhm "Die Another Day" right??
  4. so i guees its true then leona is no.1 this week??
  5. I hope the person who posted it didn't lie i want leona to be the first british female artist to have no.1 hit in the usa. Since Kim Wilde with "You Keep Me Hanging On" back in 1987.

  7. http://media.monstersandcritics.com/articles/1349490/article_images/makingtheband.jpg THAT’LL BE THE DAY 26 ON CHARTS P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Will Have A Second Consecutive #1, Panic at the Disco, Counting Crows Both Headed Top 5 March 26, 2008 P. Diddy did it again. Based on one-day sales from shell-shocked retailers around this Barack Obama-infatuated country of ours, Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Day 26 will likely follow fellow Making the Band grads Danity Kane to #1 on next week’s HITS Album chart. The N.Y.-based boy band’s self-titled debut is on target to sell between 225-250k, comparable to the 253k scored by Kane’s Welcome to the Dollhouse. Hey, a little old-school hip-hop publicity linking Diddy to a shooting of Tupac outside a New York recording studio 14 years ago couldn’t hurt. Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen Las Vegas art-poppers Panic at the Disco return without an exclamation point on their sophomore album, Pretty. Odd., the Beatles/ELO-inspired follow-up to their multi-platinum debut, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. First-day sales estimates look to be around 120k, give or take, good enough to challenge for #2. Veteran Geffen rockers Counting Crows’ Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings does more than get lonely Adam Duritz out of the house, it also spurs between 110-115k in sales, good for a Top 5 debut. The new album by Third Man/Warner Bros. act The Raconteurs, the collaboration between White Stripes’ Jack White and Detroit pal Brendan Benson, Consolers of the Lonely, was rush-released Tuesday, and appears set for between 30-35k in sales. The B-52s’ comeback album, Funplex, their first in 16 years since Good Stuff in 1992, on Astralwerks, appears headed for around 25k. Columbia’s WWE: The Music Vol. 8, featuring Saliva and Collie Buddz, throws its hat in the ring to the tune of 20k, while MySpace’s Pennywise is on track to sell between 8-10k in the wake of their 500k free downloads through its Textango promotion. In its second week (which would have been its debut week), Downtown/Atlantic’s Gnarls Barkley, #1 at iTunes, chalks up another 25k to add to its total of 31k this week. The market was up 11% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and now down 10% year-to-date, but don’t get too excited because the week we’re comping against last year was not Easter. We now return you to your three-way date with the McGreeveys.

  11. And backstreet boys too. ^_^
  12. He's just like Justin both didn't split up the boyband which they came from. But They led the break up of both bands. And it was planned that both will go back to their bands after their first solo album but that didn't happen.
  13. http://www.wriststyle.com/images/ronan-keating-oyester-perpetual-cosmograph_49.jpg Irish pop star Ronan Keating has dismissed rumours he was behind the split of newly-reformed band Boyzone - insisting it was the whole group's decision to quit the band. The 31-year-old, who had an international hit with When You Say Nothing At All from Notting Hill movie soundtrack, is sick of people blaming him for the split in 1999, and wants to put the tales behind him as the band reunite for a second shot at stardom this year. Keating shot to fame in 1993 with Boyzone - alongside Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy - selling 15 million records worldwide, including six number one singles in Europe and Asia. But the Life is a Rollercoaster hitmaker admits he wasn't too upset when the group disbanded - because he loved the huge success he enjoyed as a solo artist. He tells Hello! magazine, "A lot of people felt I was the reason Boyzone broke up. But it was the five of that decided Boyzone was taking a break. "Yes, I led the break-up, but I fully intended to come back; we all did. "And then my career took off. I wasn't expecting it to be like that. It went crazy for me and it was an amazing time - I was riding the crest of a wave and I couldn't drop it.

http://mickeyworld.net/music/limahl15.jpg His biggest hit ever was The Never Ending Story, and ironically enough, it was nearly the end to his story. After selling four million copies of the single, the artiste known as Limahl just about disappeared from the face of music-dom, no thanks to some unfortunate management by his then record label. It was indeed a sad state of affairs for the former lead singer of 80s band Kajagoogoo, with whom he had a hit called Too Shy. Soon after leaving the band, he had two big solo hits – Only For Love and the above-mentioned title theme song of the film The Never-Ending Story. Unfortunately, his debut album Don’t Suppose... was a commercial disaster, and that’s when his troubles began. Apart from touring, Limahl is still involved in producing and songwriting. According to Limahl, whose real name is Christopher Hamill (his stage name is an anagram of his surname), he had recorded some new songs for another album, but it never saw the light of day. There was also a lot of politics involved with his record label then, and he eventually left to go to the United States where acclaimed producer Clive Davis promptly signed him on . Unfortunately, after spending around US$260,000 (RM824,000) recording six songs with him, he was inexplicably dropped from Davis’ label. “I was so devastated by that, and by 1989 I was burnt out. I had written 15 songs for those records, and none were ever released. I thought at the time I couldn’t give anymore. I was so exhausted that I took two years off doing things that had nothing to do with music,” recalls the now 50-year-old artiste during the phone interview from his home in London. “I’ll be honest with you ... it’s only human nature to want more, and of course it would have been great to have more hits. But that’s just the way it turned out for me.” After the two-year hiatus he took in 1989, Limahl gradually got back into the music business, not as a singer, but as a producer and songwriter. “That felt very natural to me, much like an actor goes on to direct, or a footballer becomes a coach or manager. It felt natural for me to be in the background using my experience to help new artistes,” he said. Although he did release another album called Love is Blind in 1992, it made barely a ripple in the market. So it was that Limahl spent much of the 90s working quietly as a producer, songwriter, arranger for other artistes such as Kim Wilde, Peter André (who had a big hit called Mysterious Girl) and the like. However, there was to be yet another twist in his tale. “One day in 1997, my mobile phone rang, and an agent in London was on the line, offering me a chance to do a live show. I was really surprised by the call, and because I was so busy and the show was in six weeks, I nearly said no. But I’m glad I said yes, because I really enjoyed getting back on stage,” he recalls. “That year was when there was a real revival in interest in the 80s. I thought at the time that the interest might only last a few weeks or months. But, here we are, 10 years later and I’ve been doing 30 to 40 shows a year all around the world, and I’m coming to Malaysia to perform!” The Here & Now Tour 2008: The Very Best of 80s concert, which will feature 80s icons Paul Young, Bananarama, Johnny Hates Jazz and of course, Limahl, comes to Genting Highlands later this month. According to him, 80s shows like this are nice for people who grew up in the decade. “I think people like to think back to that wonderful time when they were aged between 16 and 25 and were free of all responsibilities,” he said. “I feel very proud to be associated to the 80s, which was a fantastic era. It was a musical time before the corporations, the conglomerates and the globalisation of music began. Almost all the artistes in the 80s were very individualistic. We designed our own images, we bought our own synthesisers, we played around with the sounds, experimented and did our own thing all from the heart. I’m very proud to be associated with all that.” He also has some very fond memories of the decade. “My mother had her 70th birthday recently, and one of my nephews asked me whether I had met any famous people. He was so amazed when I told him that I’d met Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury. And that conversation made me realise that I did do some great things in the 80s. “I can’t say I miss the 80s, but I’m proud of my musical heritage, and I mostly smile when I think back. That was a great period for a boy from a small town who came to London and made it all happen. As for looking ahead, Limahl currently has his fingers in a few pies, including a “very big project” he is working on with another big producer from the 90s, which he was very tight-lipped about. That aside, Limahl has also been doing a little bit of singing as well. “Almost every other month we receive requests from DJs and producers from around the world to feature my voice on a record. So I have been recording new things,” he said. “I’m now an antique, my voice has gained more value with the passing of time, so maybe you might hear my voice in some new songs in the future!” One thing is for sure – the thought of quitting music has never crossed his mind, even in the hardest of times. “I’ve never thought or retiring from music. God willing, I hope to be involved in at least some sort of creative or musical process even when I am 75 years old!” And thus, the story of Limahl does go on? http://www.star-ecentral.com/news/story.as...sec=soundnstage

They are set to release their first album in 2008. Robin Antin has another side project, signed to Interscope records and working with top producers to make a more European sound. The band line-up includes Lauren, the front-woman of the British girl band "Frank" from the short lived Channel 4 show "Totally Frank" as well as the Search for the next Doll finalist Chelsea Korka. As well as the french Aria and 2 other British girls Shar and Kelly. They're gonna be introduced to Europe first and then the US, starting this summer. They've just finished wrapping up work in Australia with will.i.am and are continuing to record the album and will apparantly be working with Cee-Lo and The-Dream. History Early footage shows eight members[1] however they now are only five (Chelsea Korka, Lauren, Shar, Aria, Kelly)[2]. They are set to work with producers such as Fernando Garibay, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, will.i.am,Lucas Secon. Unlike the Pussycat Dolls this group has no lead singer.[3]. Member Chelsea Korka gives periodic updates about their status on her MySpace page. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/17/Paradiso_Girls.jpg Members The group is unique, as it is made up of 5 members hailing from 5 different countries: USA, UK, France, Philippines and Barbados. Lauren, from the UK was the lead singer of the now defunct band Frank and starred in the band's show Totally Frank. Aria, from France, was featured on singer Valeria's single Girl I Told Ya. Chelsea was the second runner up on Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll and deemed the girl with the most potential by Robin Antin who asked her to be on the group after the show.

  24. LIME mag is a my country's own popular entertainment mag and i juz bought the new issue. There's a new AJ's interview. Btw, on the side note, the boys had been on the cover of this mag tons of time. They were even on the cover of this mag's very fist issue back in Nov 1996 where the guys had to wear lime green shirts and pants (awful stuff back then). Anyway, i'm typing out the interview for u guys and i must say, after reading this interview, AJ is a freaking nutcase.... BUT i still love him ANYWAYS! BACK-UP BOYS: After 15 yrs in the biz, Backstreet Boys' AJ won't flaunt his six-pack in a wet shirt anymore. But he'll show off his legs in a skirt. LIME: Who's the she in the track 'When She Smiles'? AJ: I wish I knew. We were presented the song and we all liked it. And so we decided to record. I wish i knew who the gorgeous girl in our music video though. It was hot in such a way that we didn't really get to spend a lot of time with her. Would have been nice to get her number. LIME: Wats it like now w/o Kevin? Has it changed the dynamics of the vocals & harmonies? AJ: W/o sounding bad, it really hasn't. We never really do 5-part harmonies; it's always been 4-parts. Kevin wld double up with whomever. Juz that its weird w/o him but y'know, the doors r always open to him if he wants to come back. He's busy changing diapers these days. He's also doing a lot of theatre and acting, and a lot of time is spent at home with his boy. LIME: After 15 yrs, do u think you'd be comfortable doing another wet shirt shot in a music video? AJ: I dun think i personally wld now. I'd probably do one in my b-day suit but thats juz me. (laughs) Kidding! But seriously, when we look back at some of the things we've done, we juz go, "Oh My Lord! War were we wearing?" I'm glad the whole wet shirt thing is way behind us. LIME: If u had to do it again, who wld win a wet shirt contest? AJ: Probably me or Nick. LIME: How r the solo careers going? Is there life beyond the BSB? AJ: Well, its been a pretty busy summer. I've juz completed recording my album. I know Brian's releasing his soon. I relaly wanted to call my album "Real man wear dresses" but i dun really have the legs for it. I've got skinny legs man, girly legs. LIME: Maybe thats y you'd look good in a dress! AJ: Well, the record label didn't really go for that. But the album is abt who i really am. It's beyond wat u see now, with the BSB. It's abt me coming clean abt everything i stand for, which is why i thought i should wear a dress on the cover. LIME: How abt calling it "McLean comes clean" then? AJ: That'd be a good one. Thats a thought. But i still wanna show off my legs. May have to address the hairy bits though! __________________
