Radical Optimism • Third Album
Drops another 19 to #40 this week on the US chart. I'm not sure what's going on, as her songs are on radio ALL THE TIME. Perhaps re-issue the album with the Barbie song?

I honestly never imagined it would happen! Just amazing!

Tension ● 16th album discussion
So so agree on this one! Unless by some weird chart rule, it counts as a separate album entry and can get her another UK no1 album, I say let's just put Tension to rest and focus on the next era.

An Audience with Kylie
Agree. I just wonder how easily discoverable it will be. Its not a series or anything, it's a one-off. Her record company is definitely doing the right moves Stateside.

Radical Optimism • Third Album
#21 I'm the most casual Dua Lipa fan but I came in here to say I quite liked the album. Houdini remains my absolute favourite, I just love how chunky the whole song is. And it seems to sound better now than it did in Nov! I'm also a fan of FF which apparently isn't everyone's favourite cup of tea.

In the Night ● New Kids on the Block feat. Kylie Minogue
If she was going to be a feature/duet partner with a band to increase visibility, streams or sales, she at least could’ve done with someone way more relevant like Take That. I understand their biggest base is the UK but it’s better than NKOTB who aren’t even that big in the USA or anywhere, and aren’t even big steaming acts.

In the Night ● New Kids on the Block feat. Kylie Minogue
So, I just heard "In the Night" on Spotify and I don't hear Kylie's vocals. So looks like the duet wasn't meant to be on the album and someone leaked the "surprise" by accident. I didn't mind the song, it's got a nice 80s pop vibe to it, but totally forgettable. I just hope this wasn't one of the "big name" collabs she was talking about! For those who asked about NKOTB - they were huge around the Kylie PWL time (approx 1988 - 1991). My favourite is the 1990 song "Step by step". I still listen to it to this day for the feelgood vibes.

Padam Padam ● One year on
Iconic, I kind of had a feeling it would become a hit but I didn't expect at this level - I mean no1 UK radio airplay, etc. etc. Amazing! Just baffles me that it didn't crack the Hot 100, especially when, at least as a Kylie fan, I felt she was "everywhere" in the US promoting (I don't want to convert this thread into a post mortem, mind).

Kylie x Joel Corry
Well, didn’t Sigala say the same a few yrs ago and other than an album feature, I don’t think much happened.

Better the Devil You Know
Absolute classic Funny anecdote: back in 2001’ish, I’d played Kylie’s followed by the Steps’ version to some mates who’d never heard of either artist or song. They thought Kylie’s was the newer version. Meaning to say - they were surprised the original was a decade old as they said it sounded fresher than the remake! That sums up how I feel 34 years later - absolutely fresh, absolute classic and the 4 singles from ROL are perhaps the best ever 4 singles from any pop album. Infact I almost feel bummed that the media and Kylie herself consider songs like Head and now PP as her signature songs when this and ATL should be it. Whilst she lost a lot of teeny bopper fans in the process, this became the start of her gay fan base and made her a dependable bankable “pink pound” artist. In the long run, that paid off so much more than doing a 3rd PWL pretty pop album that would have killed her career too like most PWL artists. The video was beyond fab - she looked stunning and so confident. You could tell she was beginning to take a few things in her control and no longer wanted to be a puppet

Hand On Your Heart ● 35 years on
I like all 3 singles equally. Whilst the first album had more gems, I like EY album as it feels more polished and professional. She'd moved to London by the time recording began, so it felt more consistent as they just got more facetime together.

I love this song and the year 1989 to me was the completion of the transition form Aussie soap star to “British” pop star. She was everywhere in the UK mags those days, on TV, the “adoption” of Kylie by the British felt complete. Whether it’s talk shows, Smash Hits poll winners party, tabloids, etc. - you JUST couldn’t escape her. (And I mean that in a good way).

Time 100 Most Influential People of 2024
I just wish they'd listed achievements the last couple of years than some random writeup by Chris, looks like he wrote it 5 minutes. It's so generic, looks like a linkedIn recommendation, LOL. Alia Bhatt also made the list, how cool is that!!

Dance Alone ● Sia & Kylie
Best thing about this song is that in an age where you’re rated by your streaming numbers, this was an easy low effort win for Kylie.

Kylie x Joel Corry
There’s always a part of me that thinks there are some bigger plans for HOTN as it’s her favourite single in years and yet no video nothing. She was probably saving it for something big like a reissue

Kiss Me Once ● album discussion
I did my best to listen to the album and it truly felt awful, felt like watching a game of golf - it just wouldn’t get over!! Everything about this album seems forced - Sexercise was her trying to trendy but it fell flat on thr face cancel was trying to cash in on the Pharrell love Sexy love felt like a LADS wannabe Million miles and ITB felt like a forced “emotopop “ Kylie The only songs that still sound amazing today are the title track (which is truly truly lovely), Feels So good and the bonus song Sparks

Dance Alone ● Sia & Kylie
This all sounds so fabulous! Go Kylie and sia !!

Radical Optimism • Third Album
Dua and her label will consider this album a success only if it does amazingly well in the USA. Given the underwhelming performance of her 2 singles on the BB100, can this album hit top 3 on the bb200?

Dance Alone ● Sia & Kylie
The sneak peak of the video honestly looks decent enough. I really don't think it's a good idea to splurge on songs that aren't going to be massive..but will ensure additional streams and hence sales. Well done S&K!

Body Language ● album discussion
#11 on Monday's middies. So top 40 guaranteed? Still can't believe it debuted only at 6 given the money cant buy concert and all the Fever success. Understand the sound was underwhelming, blah blah but I would've thought the fanbase alone would've at least sent it top 3.

Would you want Madonna & Kylie to release a single?
This - in bold. M's last album - madame M was truly awful. Whilst I appreciate that M wants to try out diff genres and lecture all of us on political issues, I don't think it goes with K's personality and style of music. Kylie has found her beat in the emotopop and solid pop tunes. They just won't mix well together and as much as we all say "ooih chart positions don't count", blah blah....there will be sky high expectations for everything from chart positions, sales, streaming #s, etc. etc. and it will be a disappointment. I don't even want to get into the chaos the video itself would present as they both are diff visual storytellers as well.

I voted no as well. I would’ve voted yes had this poll been in 2002.

Tension ● 16th album discussion
I was thinking the same too. My guess is the unexpected success of Vegas and push in the USA derailed it. On the flip side, her profile is high so maybe the label can think of Tension as the “Lightyears” to the upcoming “Fever”. So that means, dear Kylie - pls release a new album soon (to ride on the wave) and not reissue Tension.

Kylie and Madonna perform together!
Other than “4 seconds” and the Britney song, had Madge had any success wirh duets? I hope there is no commercial release as no matter what we say, there will be inherent expectations from and the focus on the video budget, chart performance, streaming numbers, chart positions, etc. and we’re asking for a disappointment in all departments. It’s 2024. This would’ve worked in 2003.
