Tension ● 2nd Single
Also seasonality counts right? PP came out right in time for summer - Tension is coming at a time when summer is ending and perhaps people aren't streaming as much with return to work, return to school, etc.

Tension ● 2nd Single
I honestly can't believe we're talking about TWO top 20 hits from a Kylie album in 2023. And as someone pointed out - with no flavour of the month features. It's INSANE in the best possible way.

non-mover at 19? That's impressive! Top 30 looking guaranteed then?

Midweek position 19

I’m looking fwd to listening to the sruthi version. I liked the song although it’s generic dance, nothing too special. I reckon this song will REALLY divide Kylie fans but it seems generic and lightweight enough to get some mainstream love

I can imagine the video to be a new confide in me - several Style Kylie’s

Tension ● 2nd Single
Should’ve done a proper Fri release. Anyway I’m hoping a top 30 debut next Friday

An Audience with Kylie
Kudos BMG, pulling all the stops for this era. And the fact that ITV also granted her one shows they still see her as a heavyweight

So is it safe to say that PP missed that Hot 100 bus? Any updated usa stats?

Tension ● 16th album discussion
This was such a funnnnnn interview. I enjoyed it so much. She came across as so confident, so aware of her multi decade success and very witty, and real. I chuckled at the whole Harry styles and Elton John section. “What more bad news do you have for me!” :D :D lol

Padam Padam ● 1st single
Agree! I even wonder how if it’ll chart at all given it was primed as summertime anthem and Usa is kind of gearing up now for autumn (back to school, etc etc)

How are things going in the usa? Hasn’t it been a week since it was sent to radio?
-
Padam Padam ● 1st single
Yes, I think that's what it is. Goes to show that in this era, even though radio play gets the word out, it's the all crucial streaming (and I honestly don't know how else poor Kylie and BMG could've incentivised this - they did everything possible)

Padam Padam ● 1st single
Agree there - but unlike her othe releases, PP is one of her few so FD that became viral and didn’t need the conventional promo

Am I the only one who’s surprised at germanys cold reaction to this??

Delicate didn't imply that Kylie's album buying demographic were not or least affected by cost of living situation. What he implied is that whilst the cost of living situation has hit everyone hard, Kylie's (and Madonna's) fanbase skews older which means they're at a point in life where they only spend money on the things that matter most to them - which includes spending money by hook or by crook for their favourite pop stars. Closest analogy I can think of is American football like the NFL league. People in their 20s and 30s will buy tickets for games if their home team is playing an interesting opponent, or they got it for a discount or want to do something for fun on Sunday, they may even spend money on season tickets for their home team regardless of who the quarterback, TE (tight end) or WR (wide receiver) is on the current roster (sort of like the casual pop music demographic that buys an artist's album purely based on the music and what's hot in the chart at the mo - it was Daniel Bedingfield yesterday, it's Ed Sheeran today, could be blah-blah tomorrow). Kylie's , Madonna's, U2's fanbase etc is the opposite - even if they got evicted from their homes for failure to pay rent and are living on salary slip to salary slip (of course I'm exagerrating, lol but you get the drift) they'd spend money on the few things that they deem important in their lives (I say few, as you start to declutter your life as you grow older). This is like the NFL fan who's been watching / following football for decades, had a favourite player and the fan could be unemployed or poor or whatever, perhaps even their favourite player is retired now...but the fan will still borrow money or sell his stuff on marketplace so he can get money to bid for that autographed football, or some memorabilia or pay 3x the price of a season ticket so they see their favourite player's comeback tour. So, in that sense, whilst inflation and cost of living crisis has hit everyone, I still say the Kylie's and Madonna's will always have stronger probability of more consistent sales just because of not only the devoted fanbase, but that spending money on Kylie is a bit higher up on the priority list (than an Ed sheeran fan, for example).

We must once again say great job BMG! I never imagined I'd be on a Kylie thread in 2023 that's spanned 242 pages! I hope this at least reaches 250...another record for Kylie. lol

I’m just praying PP clicks in Germany!

Agree. The real queen isn’t Kylie. It’s our hun Carol!

So many charts in the usa I’m always confused! Anyway I was going to say “yay Kylie, amazing” but Zayn’s week old song entered at 37 (granted, he’s more famous than Kylie in the states) so not sure if Pp’s debut is that big an achievement. What’ll be interesting is how it fares in the hot 100, assuming it enters
