  1. Oh my that is good news! This song has legs!
  2. There will be amazing marketing and promo and all...but being really really honest - I doubt it'll go top 10 if we include streaming, and all that other stuff. Dance-pop is still a very niche area in the US chart and unlike a Gaga or other white women who do pop-dance, Kylie doesn't have a cult following outside of the 30yr+ LGBT. That said, I suspect it'll sell more and sell longer than both Disco and Aphrodite: and most importantly - achieve the all important goal of visibility as she gears up for Vegas.
  3. Great topic/question Jessie Where! I think each of the songs ATL, PP (and I'm adding CGYOOMH) served different purposes in Kylie's career. To an extent, I think of a PP more as a combo of CGYOOMH and Spinning Around: in the sense that a) it put Kylie back in the public eye in the new Insta/tiktok era (much like SA brought her name back in the pop radar) b) It showed the current 2023 world that Kylie's trademark about creating a lush catchy earworm pop song is still very much there (like Head) But again, the market landscape is so different the way I see this is: if PP were released in 2010 instead of today, it would've been way bigger than ATL, almost a CGYOOMH part 2.
  4. PP becomes first top 40 hit in the Netherlands since wow / 2008! Congrats to BMG-NL.
  5. This has set the album up so nicely!
  6. I understand they may have a big Tension UK Promo planned and want to avoid overexposure....but the lack of promo or UK interview spots is a bit surprising considering this is a once in a blue moon opp for her.
  7. You are everyone’s hun. I often think of you and sing Pa-hun pa-hun It’s Carol, and I know! ❤️❤️
  8. I feel UK will get single #2 whilst rest of the world inc Australia (where PP will enjoy a revival if it hits it big in the US, Aussies are proper yank kiss-asses and wannabes) will stick with PP.
  9. You're such a blessing to this forum. Thank you for this analysis. It's looking promising.... I still say she'll be 9.
  10. Any update on Wed mids? Meanwhile - caught the WWHL show on youtube: I'm overall impressed that Kylie is choosing spots this time where the hosts have done their homework and treat her like the global icon she is (they're well aware of Neighbours, the PWL days, the "#1 in 5 consec decades", etc.). The tone has gone from "welcome to new territories of the US" to "shame on us americans, we've been msising out on the the phenomenon that is Kyile" Goes a long way to building/expanding her image in the US.
  11. In many ways I'm glad this didn't turn out to be Kylie. We don't know if the movie will be a hit and the last thing we want is for a Kylie song to be associated with a flop movie.
  12. I quite agree. Do BMG even realise that unlike 2001 or 1989, there's no guarantee that her 2nd single will be equally well received. They need to cash in wherever possible. Where are those cheap CD singles that many can buy in bulk and sell more? Unlike singles from Disco or Golden, they shouldn't be focusing on profit from PP. but more on exposure. Sell more, send it to top 5! I do applaud them for handling it well up to this point because I honestly don't think anyone expected it to do so well
  13. I quite agree. She was all over the media for her US appearances the last few weeks and suddenly she's gone quiet which means something's brewing - new video, collabs, etc. I firmly believe UK promo will happen in Sept unless PP really takes off in the US and they repurpose the UK slots for more US promo slots.
  14. Aah ok! I just hope BMG plays a good strategy as this is a one in a million chance
  15. Interesting. I thought universally most Kylie fans liked (or didn’t mind ) the song but didn’t feel it was an appropriate choice for 1st single. I don’t recall too many Kylie fans going “wow they made the right choice making this the 1st Single”
  16. Why so? Who’s behind her that could cause her to fall off?
  17. I love donna songs but do think K has the vocal registers to match Donna's?
  18. I think a lot of us are overrating the Barbie soundtrack and simultaneously underrating Kylie's popularity in the US. Honestly, these days in most music circles, everyone knows her name and she has the same kind of rep as ABBA (not that high) in a "hugely hugely successful outside of the USA, we dumb yanks didn't catch on". So, she could be the big superstar that Mark is talking about. Honestly, and having seen the trailer of the movie, I doubt a Taylor Swift or a bonafide "well known in the USA" superstar (like Adele) would want to sign on for it. The only other one I can think of is Miley Cyrus as Mark Ronson has had a great working relationship with her.
  19. Unless they’re playing at - she had her own range of Barbie dolls back in 2004’ish?
  20. There are fans that think this a classic Kylie pop record and a perfect goodbye to her PWL contract (“celebration” doesn’t count as a pwl original). And then there are other fans who think it’s regressive and she took 10 steps back after the mature direction of ROL and LGTI. Which category are you? I’m in the first - it’s a Kylie classic!!
  21. In this streaming era, very few pop Acts seem to score a 2nd big radio hit
