Fair enough...but I'm going by Wikipedia album discography for example where the original 1997 release has been updated to #5 peak, I don't see it as 2 separate entries unlike Taylor's where the Taylor versions are listed as separate.
  2. Any update on Wed mids? Meanwhile - caught the WWHL show on youtube: I'm overall impressed that Kylie is choosing spots this time where the hosts have done their homework and treat her like the global icon she is (they're well aware of Neighbours, the PWL days, the "#1 in 5 consec decades", etc.). The tone has gone from "welcome to new territories of the US" to "shame on us americans, we've been msising out on the the phenomenon that is Kyile" Goes a long way to building/expanding her image in the US.

I would! As I said, this isn't about my opinion on an artist. So yes, I'd be up in arms. It's one thing where a re-release beats its original peak (like Kylie's Impossible Princess) but a different catalogue # or a re-recording being treated as a separate release is a chart travesty.

The fact that an artist (Taylor, in this case) will most likely end up as the female artist with most UK #1 albums all because of a technicality of going into a studio on a boring lazy Sunday and re-recording her albums is a joke. This isn't a personal remark on Taylor - I'm neither a Taylor fan or hater and have no opinion on her music, talent or voice. I'm just saying it's unfortunate and a chart stat travesty.
  5. In many ways I'm glad this didn't turn out to be Kylie. We don't know if the movie will be a hit and the last thing we want is for a Kylie song to be associated with a flop movie.

I came in here to say the same. No wonder she now will have her 10th #1 album, 2nd to Madonna. Very unfair. The re-recording is really a mere technicality.
  7. I quite agree. Do BMG even realise that unlike 2001 or 1989, there's no guarantee that her 2nd single will be equally well received. They need to cash in wherever possible. Where are those cheap CD singles that many can buy in bulk and sell more? Unlike singles from Disco or Golden, they shouldn't be focusing on profit from PP. but more on exposure. Sell more, send it to top 5! I do applaud them for handling it well up to this point because I honestly don't think anyone expected it to do so well
  8. I quite agree. She was all over the media for her US appearances the last few weeks and suddenly she's gone quiet which means something's brewing - new video, collabs, etc. I firmly believe UK promo will happen in Sept unless PP really takes off in the US and they repurpose the UK slots for more US promo slots.
  9. Aah ok! I just hope BMG plays a good strategy as this is a one in a million chance
  10. Interesting. I thought universally most Kylie fans liked (or didn’t mind ) the song but didn’t feel it was an appropriate choice for 1st single. I don’t recall too many Kylie fans going “wow they made the right choice making this the 1st Single”
  11. Why so? Who’s behind her that could cause her to fall off?
  12. I love donna songs but do think K has the vocal registers to match Donna's?
  13. I think a lot of us are overrating the Barbie soundtrack and simultaneously underrating Kylie's popularity in the US. Honestly, these days in most music circles, everyone knows her name and she has the same kind of rep as ABBA (not that high) in a "hugely hugely successful outside of the USA, we dumb yanks didn't catch on". So, she could be the big superstar that Mark is talking about. Honestly, and having seen the trailer of the movie, I doubt a Taylor Swift or a bonafide "well known in the USA" superstar (like Adele) would want to sign on for it. The only other one I can think of is Miley Cyrus as Mark Ronson has had a great working relationship with her.
  14. Unless they’re playing at - she had her own range of Barbie dolls back in 2004’ish?
  15. There are fans that think this a classic Kylie pop record and a perfect goodbye to her PWL contract (“celebration” doesn’t count as a pwl original). And then there are other fans who think it’s regressive and she took 10 steps back after the mature direction of ROL and LGTI. Which category are you? I’m in the first - it’s a Kylie classic!!
  16. In this streaming era, very few pop Acts seem to score a 2nd big radio hit
  17. Can’t speak for others on this forum but When it comes to Kylie, all I really bother tracking and care about is the UK performance / UK promo and plans. If she does well in other parts of the world inc Oz, it’s just a bonus in my view!
  18. I believe the theory doing the rounds is that PP has been such an unexpected surprise that even if they'd put in the orders for a 7" 4-5 weeks ago, it still wouldn't have been ready early enough to help in PP's chart run. My guess is that they'll go big for single #2 and plan all these things...they'll have more time anyway.
  19. Oh yes, I love that song! Most of Sonia's "Everybody Knows" has songs K easily could've done. Who knows, maybe some were Kylie rejects?
  20. She did look gorgeous in the video - and I do remember it being in an advert. Agree @ Kylie going away from pop and the singles not doing well. I still think how it would've all been if she'd released "In my arms" as the 1st single from X and performed it on X factor. Would've resulted in a much higher position than the #4 debut. And those were the days when R1 was A-listing her so a nice poppy "IMA" would've done wonders.
  21. That’ll be huge exposure. Perhaps a feature on a re-recorded dua lipa song?
  22. I specifically chose that date range as they were Kylie’s SAW years (88-89 specifically were the most successful yrs of SAW) and practically every other record those days was a Hit FactoryPWL prod. Here’s my list in random order: Together forever - Rick astley Only wanna be w you (cover) - Sam fox Happening all over again - Lonnie Gordon When I’m good and ready - Sybil Listen to your heart - Sonia (they could’ve easily given this an emoto-pop sound that K does so well).
