  1. I felt at the time, the Kylie-fatigue sort of had rubbed off on people’s perception and interest in dannii too which is why this era wasn’t the most successful. I loved “This is it” back then but sounds dated now
  2. Yes!! Came in here to say the same thing. Although the pattern seems to be the same now the last few wed’s : drop a remix so the fans can buy buy buy and keep the song in the top ten. I suppose by now if it had to take off more than it already has, BMG wouldn’t need to be doing this
  3. I really still love this album. Top 2’s are Turn it into love and then GTBC. How TIIL wasn’t a single (outside of Japan) is a shocker. They could’ve easily released it as single #5 and THEN EFY. Or even overlapping. Funnily I think other K albums like BL and KMO have dated more than this. I have suchhhhhhh fond memories of this period - Neighbours. Kylie mania, her innocent “deer in the headlights” interview appearances on British tv, etc So easy to see why other Aussie stars like Jason, Natalie, even dannii all emigrated to the uk but the uk never quite adopted anyone the way they adopted K.
  4. Is this the 2nd single? More importantly, Kylie in the Indian interview said one of the songs was a love child of 2 other BiffCo songs. Was she referring to “Hold on to now” And are the 2 other songs LAFS and “The one”?
  5. Was I the only one who was not only shocked that the song debuted at 5 but actually climbed 3 places the next week? I wouldn’t have been shocked had this been 88-89 but at a time when K wasn’t super popular, the parent album becoming her first uk top 10 miss and “word is out” becoming her first top 10 singles miss… still baffles me how a fairly avg song like this peaked so high!
  6. I so was hoping this song would go higher than 8 given how it just took off! But looks like general interest has peaked, all the pride activities are over and there’s only so much BMG and the fans want to continue investing in more remixes and physicals. Super stoked it did so well, onto “hold on to now”
  7. Overall reception for this song from the media has been so good!
  8. I do wonder with the new found cult success in the usa if her uk promo slots for Tension will be repurposed for usa (assuming of course PP still has momentum/ is showing signs of becoming a hit or has become a hit come Aug- sept)
  9. I suspect 7 on First look!
  10. I don’t care about the album much but ATL and GOMW are both Kylie classics. And who can forget heartstrings ?!
  11. Falls to 27 on the official Aussie charts after peaking at 19. Not a big worry however as neither Kylie nor her label seem to cR much for the Aussie charts
  12. I see your point, but it's kind of more or less the same "result", in the sense it's not beating the competition. To clarify - I'm super happy and shocked we're talking about a Kylie top 10 song 35 years into her career, I didn't ever imagine such a scenario in my wildest dreams. But again, it's just that the song caught fire instantly that I'd expected it to at least hit top 5 with the fuel it had supposedly already accumulated in the tank....but seems to be yo-yo'ing in the 8-12 range.
  13. I still say she's got a shot as non-mover at 8. I'm just kind of surprised that the song just took off and suddenly seems like it's stalled!
  14. This song just played on YouTube, hence the random post :D Afaik, yes Kylie wasn’t the most hip or popular in the 1995 days and the SAW sound had died - but this was a duet that sounded different, it was with an underground’ish artist with cred, it wasn’t a bubbly Kylie song if you will. So why did it plummet out of the top 20 after a #11 debut? This is one of her few pre Parlo songs to chart better in Oz than in the uk
  15. Always open to more radio play but I don't know how much of an impact that will have. If I could make a wish, I'd rather she's 1st song up on HHUK, etc. on Spotify.
  16. First Raye and now Dua! Keep at it Kyles! :D
  17. Does this thread have the likelihood of hitting 200 pages by next weekend?! I say yes!
  18. Carol honey darling, ideally I'd have said slim to none. But again, worth risking it with PP as it's crossed over to the casual listener. And collecting vinyl is a "thing" again. So, I'd say many casual fans may not pick up a Kylie physical, but the probability of them picking up a PP physical is higher than her last 3 albums' physicals.
  19. Agree! Other than the 3 tracks I mentioned, I don't even have any on my Kylie playlists.
  20. Totally agree. But Disco was a diff beast than PP. Disco turned out to be a fan affair - songs didn't crack the top 30, etc. But PP is the 2nd coming of CGYOOMH in terms of public appeal - so they may want to consider a change in strategy: incentivise the casual buyer as well (ex: someone who loves collecting vinyl and happens to like PP but isn't a hardcore K fan who'll pay 10 quid)
  21. Robbie's run wasn't the most successful - it was just presented so. Kylie is much better known than Robbie in the States, has a cult gay following and a lot of folks also respect her for the dance tunes. Question is - an Adele or Robbie's sound is more suited for a Vegas res versus a dance'y act like Kylie's. And I don't think Americans would be too happy to fork out all the money to hear piano version of Head or guitar'y version of PP.
  22. Late to this thread but here are my thoughts: MESS MESS MESS The album was a poor caricature ... the biggest mistake K did was hiring Sia as exec producer. Most songs ended up being an economy version of something already out there (ex: the Pharell song), a tried/tested Kylie formula (ITB, Sexy love), songs that didn't "fit" Kylie's DNA (If only) and some were just outright embarrassing (Sexercise). KMO took over BL and "let's get to it" as my least played Kylie album of all time. It has the same inconsistency of sound as X does, but at least X had some individual glorious moments. The only 2 amazing Kylie-sounding songs on KMO were the title track and "Feels so good". Oh, and the Japan bonus song Sparks was awesome!
  23. If BMG is aiming for high chart positions, they need to make this merch cheaper. If PP can stay in the top 10 longer, garner more positive press than it's already doing now, that'll mean big gains for when the album releases.
  24. I came in here to say the same! Top 30 is quite amazing!
