  1. Plus, about 6 wks between album and single release.... the so-called pent up demand for an Adele record and the never ending promo may wane by the time the album is out. I'm not saying it won't be a huge seller, I just think we're overestimating its sales.
  2. With all of that said, it's always been surprising to me how Madonna just had the better UK chart positions and peaks than Kylie did even in the 90s. Of all of K's 90s records, I'm most disappointed that Confide in Me didn't make such a huge impact on the charts in terms of sales or longevity. Wasn't its chart run something like 2-4-6-15?
  3. There was a part of me that was hoping she'd cash in on her current success - stitch together a new album with Disco rejects and release it this year to maintain her streak of #1s. Given the current album climate these days, she can easily pull off a 35K-40K first week sales which in most weeks, is enough for a UK #1 album.
  4. I get that. And also the personal / sentimental reasons for her being on the song. All I’m saying is, initially I was excited when Ed mentioned that she’s on the record, I was thinking “yay, first top ten in a over a decade for our Kylie, then!”. Now, it just feels like an opportunity wasted.
  5. I can’t hear K’s voice and doesn’t look like she’s officially credited. Honestly, pointless effort Kylie!
  6. Of both sisters’ albums, this is the least memorable. (Disclaimer - I’ve not heard dannii’s 2nd album). Forget 30 yrs on, it sounded dated 4-5 years on itself!!
  7. Frankly she’s riding a wave of popularity and Kylie fans have shown the power to take her album to no1 w multiple physical purchases… so I’d rather she just puts out another disco themed new album to cash in, than a Disco reissue. 9th UK no1 album on the way!!
  8. But there have been other remixes from artists where the new collaborator has been listed. That's why this omission is odd. Rather, why K said yes when she's not credited in what's probably her biggest chance of scoring a hit single in the current environment.
  9. Very basic question and apologies if it’s been asked already - but why isn’t K credited officially?
  10. Love it, love the album version, love the single version, love the video… love the ROL album. ROL was my favourite Kylie era and it’s amazing how most songs from ROL have stood the rest of time.
  11. Sorry but the sound is awful. I always thought Y&Y were the band that K could duet with (almost reminds me of Hurts from a few years ago) but didn't think they'd choose such a throwaway song as the duet!
  12. I'd rather she just release a new album with a new name so can get another uk #1 album! If the Golden and Disco sales were anything to go by, and the current sales, K will have no issues getting another #1 with decent promotion and about 10-15 special editions!
  13. You won’t forget about me Lose this feeling
  14. I just miss those days when these kind of appearances translated into eventual album sales. Now, it's just that - an appearance on telly!
  15. Jump To The Beat VS Dont Wanna Lose This Feeling / Groove You Wont Forget About Me VS Disremembrance Put The Needle On It VS All I Wanna Do I Begin To Wonder VS Who Do You Love Now?
  16. Not my favourite K album, but I love Disco and it still sounds fresh. I don't know if it was the pandemic that this album wasn't recorded in the studio with all the bells and whistles, but the album is so organic full of good tunes. I still listen to Real Groove (solo, and the dua Lipa duet), and most other songs also hold up really well. I think, in a way, this was one of her more consistent albums after Fever.
  17. I voted for Fever - it's iconic, even the non-singles like Fragile and Love Affair had such a "diva" and iconic feel about them. Everything was perfect about the album, the videos, the promotion, the image.... everything!
  18. Bring back Julie Martin (Robinson) from the dead though....coupled with the outrageous storylines and the awful acting... that one was GOLD!
  19. We all did! In hindsight, for the show, I don't even think that's a good thing. Because H&A's ratings never suffered because a single character left. Neighbours on the other hand, even in the 90s (pre- Internet and streaming and all), it was never able to recapture its glory after the Charlene - Scott - Henry days. The producers tried and tried to bring in interesting characters (at least according to them) like Annalise and that English chic who shags Dr. Karl kennedy (forgot the name).... but it just never worked. I personally don't care for either H&A or Neighbours these days as the shows, and Aussie popular culture itself is becoming so American-wannabe that I feel I'm watching another American soap with Aussie accents.
  20. Thanks to Feel_The_Fever for starting this thread! So much to write on both N and H&A..... IMHO, Between Charlene and Emma, Charlene was the winner. When Charlene joined N, without even knowing that K would one day become an icon, she just had that wow factor. From her entrance (the way she punches Scott), to her constant fights with madge, she was always challenging the norms for a teenage white girl in the 80s: she was probably the only cast member who consistently got great story lines. Everything about the character was unconventional both for Neighbours as well as 80s soap operas: her career (mechanic, which in the 80s for a teenage girl was a huge thing), the proposal (Scott proposes to her whilst she's still at work with oil smear on her face in her uniform!).... that it all just made it all the more iconic. Even her departure wasn't a picture perfect one (example - a typical exit those days with husband, etc.), but the strong headed Charlene recognises a biz opportunity in Brisbane and leaves her husband behind.... just everything from start to finish was always different / left field for her character (especially those days, and for a show as tame and safe as Neighbours never challenging social norms or makeup). I can't think of anyone else who had that much of scriptwriter's love with interesting storylines...probably Mark Brennan from the 2010-13'ish days?? I wonder what the point was in bringing Daniel and Madison for such short lived storylines. Their chemistry with Paul was awful! Emma on the other hand.... I couldn't tell her from the wallpaper on H&A as she was like the gazillion other rebellious kids on that show. She got a few meaty storylines...but so did most people on H&A (in a sense that - storylines amongst characters on H&A inc the shock ones seemed more egalitarian). If anything, I think Melissa George ended up being the more iconic character to come out of H&A (Although I personally don't like both Melissa and Angel). Another thing that stood in Emma's disadvantage was that H&A had a "me too" on Neighbours. N paved the way for a small time, Aussie soap to be a killer on UK (international) airwaves. H&A also proved to be equally successful, yes, but was always seen as version 2. In a lot of ways, Dannii and Emma have had similar parallels to Kylie and Charlene - the later 2 just "came in earlier" and hence not only saw more popularity but enjoyed more "iconic" and longer lasting status. Isn't it funny how even to this day, when K's name comes up, Neighbours/Charlene somehow finds a way of being mentioned. But for Dannii, I rarely see H&A being mentioned. If anything, her stint on X Factor UK and the playboy mag are talked about more (and she was really really good on X Factor, one of the more authentic genuine judges on the panel).
  21. I really hope she finds the happiness as a solo star, she was always the least included one in the quartet. So happy for her.
  22. Wasn’t this her last top ten UK hit? Those charity songs don’t count
  23. Truth is - she did a great great front loaded job of promoting this album last yr so she probably doesn’t care now. Also, not like a K appearance on a top rated show will massively increase sales anyway. She’s probably thinking of the next project. One thing with K is that she’s very balanced in her appearances - she doesn’t overdo it to a point where people are fed up of her.
