^TOTP certainly wasn't awful. It wasn't great, average for her standards, her voice sounded thin and weak. But this probably just had something to do with the fact that TOTP was filmed the day after she won X Factor, the morning after all the partying which inevitably followed her win. The last 1/4 was still good though. And her performance on X Factor was amazing.

I remember she won that TV program program chancers with some other girl and went on to be signed by Matthew Knowles (Beyonce's dad) and toured with Beyonce... This was in 2006 so surely she must have had an album out by then? Ah, yeah. Forget Leona for a second anyway, im not really that bothered about her. But Alexandra has tons of charisma, so I hope it does rub off on her music. :)

Madonna? Ok, LOL. But yeahhh, I get what you're saying, I really do, but I just think that someone like Alexandra shouldn't be criticized before she's even got into the studio to record her stuff. I mean, those people you listed are the exceptions, why? Not because there are so little individualists, but because such a high percentage of them FAIL before we even hear of them. As I said before, at the end of the day its all about luck, and taking every opportunity you get, however much you want to say you hate the X Factor, and I agree with you on that front, its Alex's and Leona's future careers, dreams and lives at stake. Are you telling me that if you were a talented singer with a dream, a massive dream and things weren't going your way at all you would rather give up, than compete for a golden opportinity to win a recording contract worth $1m? Both Leona and Alex are people who have tried to break into the industry left, right and center. Apparently failing horribly each time, so how can you diss either one fo them for having to resort to going onto the X Factor? As I said before, Alex hasn't even released her first record and yet you're dissing her already. She seems like a very driven girl, someone who knows where she wants to go in life and isn't gonna take $h!t from anyone. She's already talked about wanting to have a massive creative input in her album and she says that she is already a songwriter... I think we should wait to see what her first album looks like and her input in her first album before labelling her incompetant or whatever. I really do understand what you're saying and some of these manufactured artists are getting out of control. Like Miley Cyrus... But im a big fan of Jojo and you look at video's of her on youtube and shes been on every talent show you can imagine trying to make a name for herself and get into the business. But I think its about what you do after you get discovered, she was approached to be hannah montana, but she turned it down. Because she herself didn't want to be a manufactured artist. Her third album is due out anytime now and shes assumed almost complete creative control of it, shes written and composed virtually every track on it apart from probably one or two and has produced a lot of them too probably. She only turned EIGHTEEN like yesterday. Shes always making controversey when she echos your views and talks about how she hates the career paths of her contemparies like Miley, Britney and Hilary Duff among others and they way they just directed eft right and center and just sing what is put in front of them. But basically what im trying to say is that the music industry has changed now and yes the producers now have a big say in it but I think you shouldn't just turn your backs on singers like Leona and Alex, nowadays in a lot of cases it takes time before a singer can properly show their individuality and I think you shouldn't turn your back on them, I think that they're talented and could go on to become the two most globally famous British singers we have had in DECADES. But I dunno, all im saying is just try to keep a more open mind. :) Wow that was such a long post, I just wrote everything that was in my head after I read your post. :o But its interesting hearing other people's views considering I agree with a lot you're saying. :)

The one thing I hat about these music "Purists/snobs" or whatver you call yourselves is the fact that you think that your opinions are the definitive opinions. I mean seriously, all these people going on about how Alexandra doesn't get the song/sing it with the right emotion or whatever - what makes them think that they know how the song is meant to be sung and the right emotions which should be portrayed when singing it? The fact is these are all different interpretations and should all be accepted, you may not like it, and you're free to say what you feel is wrong, but it doesn't mean that what you say is gospel and the word of God.

Lol, I don't think Jazmine blows Alexandra, and this comes from a fan of Jazmine. I think that with some professional vocal training, Alex should easily be at the same level as Jazmine in a years time - and Jazmine is 21. The only young RnB singer I can think of who would probably blow Alex out of the water is JoJo, but to be fair Jojo is a massive exception and the voice of her tween generation, considering almost all of her contemparies are manufactured disney artists. But the reason Alex is so special is because she's so diverse and can sing anything as she showed on the X Factor, she can dance so well and just has everything, something that most of her contamparies like Jazmine Sullivan or even Jojo just don't have in one form or another. And anyway, the US argument should be saved for another day, she first of all has to focus on cracking the UK!

I dunno but there's something about Alex that makes me feel like she's not just gonna sit back and let the people around her make decisions on her behalf, I think she'll make sure that she has a lot of cretive freedom in this album but we'll see. Maybe that will happen after the second album.

Vocally, there may be a lot of people similar to her, but what makes her special? The fact that she can sing ANYTHING and still make it sound good, the fact that she has a great personality, the fact that she can dance her ass off. Most of the people who have similar voices to her can't do all of that. Shes like a Rihanna with a great voice. If she can make a great album which showcases all of those abilities then she can do so well. and I said it before and i'll say it again: Surely you would have realised by now that talent doesn't necessarily = a record deal and world domination. Its all about getting the right breaks in music, and like it or not, the X Factor is essentialy a massive break for a talented singer.

So you're telling me that people like Leona and Alex aren't talented? Those people you mentioned as being talented are only in your opinion. There are other people like me who think that that type of music is just complete rubbish. And obviously it must be quite a lot of people, hence the reason those bands you mentioned and their genres aren't the mainstream. And hence the reason they're indie and not signed. A lot of these bands don't want to conform to what they believe is just mainstream rubbish, and I value that opinion, but there are risks with that i.e not getting the recognition that all the pop bands and singers are getting.

Well thats your opinion but for me, I think that the bands you mentioned above are just complete trash. When I listen to them all I hear is loud noise. Thats the beauty of music. If you don't like it then don't listen to it.

I hate it when people call her a "Leona clone" is so, so, so, so ignorant. The only reason she's called a "Leona Clone" is because she's black and Leona's mixed race. There's no other corroborating factor between them apart from the fact that they can both sing. They're two completely different singers, you may call Alex a Beyonce lite - I can see the comparisons there but alex is an RnB snger who touches a lot on soul as well, she's really diverse and shes probably at her best when singing uptempo songs but she can do ballads just as well. Leona on the other hand is a pop singer who touches a little on RnB, she's not very good at up-tempo songs and unlike Alex, cannot dance. She's a ballad singer who has pitch perfect vocals and an amazing range with whistle capabilities, unlike Alex who has a deeper voice and she may be able to souch a the lower notes of the 6th octave but favours a more deep/soulful approach. How can you say that they're really similar? I mean in terms of the different X Factor winners they're probably the most similar but that's not saying much at all - If I claimed that Britney is a "Christina clone" or vice versa, i'd get laughed off this forum!

01 Alexandra Burke - 382,296 So she sold another 100k yesterday. If she can keep it up for today, and then of course the saturday sells should logically rise, she could and should beat Leona's first week sales.

Still no Album :o But apparently she's been signed to interscope.

I can see why people have a problem with N-Dubz, and I think its mostly down to the hat-wearing white guy called Dappy. He just acts like a complete mug most of the time and give the band a bad impression, even he has talent but I think sometimes he ruins it for the other two who are probably even more talented but are much more humble and quiet. Their lyrics can be good sometimes, but then a lot of their songs are about the story behind the song e.g Ouch and Papa. I think they could score their first top 10 hit with strong again because its much more mainstream and pop orientated and as we can see, even the people who don't usually like it would be willing to download it.
