Don't know what y'all are listening to, this is off the chain! Great lead single. His flow is tight, and the lyrics - while not overly offensive - are just perfect. The chorus is very anthemic. I'm loving the production, too.
  2. To follow up on Jarks comments, there is most certainly a hook in the song, that is really complemented by the backing track (that being "Try-y-y-y--y me" & "Buy-y-y-y--y me"). It's been stuck in my head since I heard the song. Keri Hilson hasn't been in the game as a singer for long, but she has done pretty well. "In a Perfect World..." did outsell "Fantasy Ride" (which wasn't hard), and she scored hits with "Turnin' Me On" & "Knock You Down" (the former was a hit on Urban radio as Jark pointed out). However, she hasn't managed to spawn any hits on her own, so I don't think she's a real force in the industry at the moment. She only wishes she could have swag CiCi posesses in the "Ride" video...
  3. #1 Can't Breathe - A smooth, contemporary R&B influenced track that would've served well as the lead single. The song's arrangement really complement her vocals, and I think she could've scored a hit with this stateside. #2 Outta My Head - Not a favourite of mine, but it's been overlooked for too long. It may've changed the perception of Leona as a singer. #3 I Got You - Great, memorable melody. #4 Naked - Terribly catchy song, and again shows another side to Leona as an artist. #5 Alive - I'm clearly alone but I think this soaring chorus would sound great on radio. The chorus is absolutely killer. Perfect way to close the era. Either this or "Love Letter", anyway.
  4. "Better in Time" was decent follow-up, but for the U.S. it was criminal that they didn't release "Take a Bow". A real missed opportunity, as I think it would've been a real hit.
  5. WTF did I just see? That was too hot! The girl is on fire.

  7. http://www.twitvid.com/R8QZN I think this is a buzz/street single, but damn, girl went hard. This is great.

#13 @ Urban! Should soar into the top 10 sometime next week.

No, you're right. A video was due to be released (as it has been shot), but when the song was sent for radio adds, it flopped hard. Even though it was unsuccessful, I believe they're going to push the song harder after "Un-thinkable" smashes.

She's never really been a massive Pop staple, and seems to only have one or two real Pop hits per album. I think this time around, while "Doesn't Mean Anything" is a good track, it didn't have the fire that "No One" did when it was released at the time. It's OK though, she is an R&B artist and "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" peaked at #2 on her core format. "Un-thinkable" looks like it's going to the top though.

It's not overly mainstream, but it's smooth production and silky vocals make it scream hit on U.S. R&B radio - and that's exactly what's happening. So pleased, the drums complement Alicia's sensual vocal so well.

The official remix featuring Drake should be dropping soon. Debuts at #88 on the Hot 100, and is currently #17 on Urban radio. So thrilled to see this becoming a hit.
  14. I'm so shocked "Put It In a Love Song" is #2! I'm not a hater (far from it), but holy hell no way should it be ahead of "Un-thinkable" or some other tracks. Oh well, there'll never be a list where everyone agrees unanimously. At least the #1 favourite is deserving ("Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart"). :)
  15. It's more "Ciara" than "Never Ever" was. It's sensual and has a slick melody and I feel it caters to her audience far more than "Never Ever" or "Love Sex Magic". I may be wrong but I have a better feeling about this era than "Fantasy Ride". If she were to conform to current trends (and have a successful single on Pop), it wouldn't necessary translate into album sales (i.e. Jason Derulo, Jay Sean).
  16. "Outta My Head" really isn't the strongest cut on the album, but it's the most commercial and would break the ballad mould, so her label have to release it if there's going to be a third single. If they don't this era will be even more of a mess than it already is.
  17. Hot, hot, hot! Great track, but I don't think it'll be a crossover hit, but I'm guessing that's not what they were hoping for releasing this first. I do, however, think this will be a success at it's intended format (Urban) which is really all she needs. Can't see this doing much in the UK, that's for sure.

Oh man, Mariah is one artist where my opinion changes on a monthly basis when it comes to my favourite album. "Butterfly" is probably my favourite, closely followed by "Daydream" & "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". Her debut is incredibly strong, though.
  19. Yeah, well wrestling is all subjective. If you don't connect with someone, it doesn't mean you're wrong, you know? Kurt Angle is a guy who never impressed me greatly. Everything was so contrived with his work, so it saddens me to see Eddie & Benoit list below him. It's funny, WWE would promote Angle as the "best pure wrestler" but he was actually best suited when he was working WWE style "sports entertainment" matches (i.e. v. The Rock No Way Out 2001, v. Rey Mysterio Summerslam 2002). Benoit & Eddie knew how to work the mat better than Angle, it's just unfortunate that WWE manipulated the audience into believing Kurt was the best. That's not to discredit Anle because his body of work during his WWE tenure is strong.
  20. The only other guy with access is my manager, and do you really think management actually know how to work the system...? Hell no! Very annoyed, but I'm claiming time off for it, so it's all good.
  21. Oh Jon, Eddie was adored long before WWE. Amoung the "smarks", he was widely considered one of the best workers of our generation. From his work in AAA, Japan as Black Tiger, WCW and then WWE, he (along with Chris Benoit) created quite an "elitist" following. Rightfully so, as he was a magnificent storyteller. His match v. JBL from Judgment Day 04 will remain one of the best WWE style matches of the 00's. Epic story told by Eddie, fighting the odds against the much more powerful JBL, only to lose via DQ as his emotion got the better of him. Plus, Eddie "hulking up" after cutting an amazing bladejob was just awesome to watch. Seriously, his WWE run was pretty strong. It's a shame he's not in the top 10. He totally won over the casual audience too, I mean, watch his win over Lesnar at No Way Out 04 (which was another amazing David v. Golliath match) and hear the pop. He got over naturally after he started the whole "cheat to win" shtick. I seriously can't believe I missed voting in this. SMDH.

This era has been so poorly handled. With "Echo" seemingly disappearing from the charts and "I Got You" decreasing even further, still no third single has been announced. Honestly, what are they actually waiting for? "I Got You" came and went quickly, there's no use in delaying the third single any longer.

Unrelated to Wrestlemania, but... Dayum, that's pretty shocking. His run in WWE wasn't spectacular or anything, but it's always ashame when a wrestler dies. They're always so tainted.

"Fallin'", although "No One" is a very close second. Both songs are Alicia classics, so it's a tough call. "No One" has that soaring chorus, but "Fallin'" has one beautiful arrangement.
  25. So, this is for off-topic chat, right? DAYUM, I've had to come into work on a Saturday as my company's website malfunctioned, and I'm literally still drunk. It's retarded, and totally disappointing coming into an empty office on a Bank Holiday weekend. This sucks, seriously.
